Application of Galerkin Weighted Residual Method to 2nd, 3rd and 4th order Sturm-Liouville Problems

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to compute the eigenvalues for a class of linear Sturm-Liouville problems (SLE) with Dirichlet and mixed boundary conditions applying Galerkin Weighted Residual methods. We use Legendre polynomials over [0,1] as trial functions to approximate the solutions of second, third and fourth order SLE problems. We derive rigorous matrix formulations and special attention is given about how the polynomials satisfy the corresponding homogeneous form of Dirichlet boundary conditions of Sturm-Liouville problems. The obtained approximate eigenvalues are compared with the previous computational studies by various methods available in literature. Keywords: Sturm-Liouville problems, eigenvalue, Legendre polynomials, Galerkin method.

This article holistically attempts to evaluate the economic environment of Bangladesh in a dynamic way and endeavor to forecast the risks and challenges and way out from its socio-economic anomalies in near future. For analysis and investigation, primarily the secondary data sources are used for reaching the critical juncture. It is historically evident that Bangladesh has been faced with diverse economic and political doctrines since its inception. The volatility and uncertainty of its socio-economic philosophy made Bangladesh suffer a lot. It is observed that the socialistic economic system with the democratic rule was preceded by a mixed economic system with autocracy and ultimately capitalistic economic system with so called democratic rule in Bangladesh. The present capitalistic nature of Bangladesh's economy has both positive and negative flanks. Globalization, international trade, economic growth and creation of wealth can be marked as the commendable part. On the contrary, economic inefficiency, inequality, the emergence of the proletariat and capitalistic class, presence of exploitation, mismanagement and incompatibility of various policies, incredible and non-transparent financial sector are the challenging part. The most frightening fact is that vulnerability and fragility, absorbing and tackling incapability of both internal and external economic shocks by Bangladesh economy signal the weakest side of capitalism of the country. Here, the entire analysis based on the perspective of Bangladesh can be regarded as its limitation. Last but not the least, it concluded that only a proper and timely thoughtful action with an impeccably structured economy may find the escape of such dangers. To end, this paper concludes with possible policy recommendations. Get PDF
This paper depicts the current panorama of virtual learning of the tribal students in Bangladesh with the constrictions and possible solutions. The study aimed to deal with the major issues about tribal students’ online education by bringing out the key restraints of their distance learning and the possible solutions. The researchers followed a mixed method using a 5-point Likert Scale to point out the learner sensitivities, an online Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to know specific information from all the tribes who participated in the study. Additionally, four different questions were also set for multiple response analyses. The results suggested that the tribal students have not agreeably received adequate facilities such as technological support, university funding, departmental encouragements, or monetary benefits from the quota system in the current pandemic (COVID-19) time to attend virtual learning sessions though they expect arrangements and future steps for academic learning. All institutions also could not provide them adequate opportunities to attend online classes. In conclusion, the study proposed some imperative measures for example, inclusion of flipped classroom, introducing blended learning henceforth, revising quota facilities, adequate electricity support and internet connection, to help the tribal students as they should not get deprived

An Intelligent Model To Control Preemption Rate Of Instantaneous Request Calls In Networks With Book-Ahead Reservation

    Get PDF
Resource sharing between book-ahead (BA) and instantaneous request (IR) reservation often results in high preemption rate of on-going IR calls. High IR call preemption rate causes interruption to service continuity which is considered as detrimental in a QoS-enabled network. A number of call admission control models have been proposed in literature to reduce the preemption rate of on-going IR calls. Many of these models use a tuning parameter to achieve certain level of preemption rate. This paper presents an artificial neural network (ANN) model to dynamically control the preemption rate of on-going calls in a QoS-enabled network. The model maps network traffic parameters and desired level of preemption rate into appropriate tuning parameter. Once trained, this model can be used to automatically estimate the tuning parameter value necessary to achieve the desired level of preemption rate. Simulation results show that the preemption rate attained by the model closely matches with the target rate

Effect of Corpora on Classification of Fake News using Naive Bayes Classifier

At the present world, one of the main sources of the news is an online platform like different websites and social media i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube, Instagram and so on. However, due to the lack of proper knowledge or deliberate activity of some cunning people, fake news is spreading more than ever. People in general, struggling to filter which news to trust and which one to discard. Even the sly people take advantage of the situation by spreading false news and misleading the people. Natural Language Processing, one of the major branch of Machine Learning, the wealth of research is remarkable. However, new challenges underpinning this development. Here in this work, Naive Bayes Classifier, a Bayesian approach of Machine Learning algorithm has applied to identify the fake news. We showed, besides the algorithms, how the wealth of corpora can assist to improve the performance. The dataset collected from an open-source, has been used to classify whether the news is authenticated or not. Initially, we achieved classification accuracy about 87% which is higher than previously reported accuracy and then 92% by the same Naive Bayes Algorithm with enriched corpora

Implementation of Work Sharing Technique to Improve Line Efficiency in Sewing Section: A Case Study

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on analyzing the garment processes and operation bulletin for a particular sewing line in Mahadi Fashion (PVT) Limited. The production rate of the existing layout was not close to the target. The target was 175 pieces per hour but actual production was 138 pieces per hour. So we analyzed the layout and found out the bottleneck area. Then we rearranged the workload by work sharing and reduced manpower. By doing so, actual production was 160 pieces per hour, which is near to the target, and line efficiency increased to 77%, where the existing sewing line layout was 55%. After reducing the bottleneck in sewing line capacity, we achieved 160 pieces per hour against the 138 pieces in the existing layout

Different card operated entry control systems have been developed. However, it is desired that the system is reliable, easy to implement and available at market. In this paper, we design and develop an electronic entry control system which is based on an ID card and ID card reader. In our system, the ID card contains encoded Litho-code ID and the card reader is used to read the encoded ID. We develop offline Software to collect user information, save data and to print the ID card. We design and develop the electronic card reader to capture the ID using infra-red (IR) sensors and for computer interfacing. We develop online software to process the signals exchanged between the card reader and CPU. In this paper, first we present the system layout and design outline. Then we explain the development and implementation methodology. Finally, we test the system and present the results.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i4.70

Japanese encephalitis virus infection in South-East Asia: An immuno-epidemiological twist

    Get PDF
Background:Japanese encephalitis (JE) is one of the most important zoonotic diseases in a cosmopolitan manner.  Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) infection represents at least 70 % of emerging diseases caused by the mosquito-borne  JEV. Nearly 20-30% of case fatality corroborated in JEV infections with 30-50% neurologic and psychiatric disorders. A strong epidemic distribution is observed mainly in South-East Asia, demonstrating typical seasonal characteristics and occasional outbreaks. Depending on the genetic diversity, geographical distribution, and emerging natures of JEV, the disease surveillance, and immunization strategies are also varied. Uncontrolled population growth, haphazard agro-animal farming, and ecological imbalance steer the emergence and reemergence of JEV occurrences. Some murine models elucidate the immunological phenomena of JEV infections, the more detailed pathogenesis depending on the genetic variation is yet to be well defined. And the immune-epidemiological traits also address significant concerns regarding the effective vaccines and immunotherapeutics against JEV infections. Therefore, we summarized some critical notions on molecular epidemiology, immunogenicity, and genetic variance of JEV in South-East Asia

This thesis report is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, 2006.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis report.Includes bibliographical references (page 45).In Bangladesh we have five mobile telecommunication companies, among all only two of them have GPRS system and near future they will bring GPS system. This is why we want to develop a system that will work with GPS and help people to get information about nearest emergency hospitals. There are many directories available, which provide helpful information to the people. However, the major problem with these directories is that they are not user friendly. That is, although these directories might contain many necessary information but due to lack of proper organization, these directories tend to become confusing. As a result the ordinary people find it very tough to use them. Location searching has always been a problem to everyone. And when it comes to finding locations of hospitals in times of emergency, things become more complex. Thus, to make life a bit easier tried to develop a system that will help people to get their desired address/location of the nearest hospital via SMS (short message service).Farzana Islam MouriTasnuva ShabbinB.
