Quality Assessment of Automatic Paraphrasing Tool for English: An Analysis at Syntactic Level

    Get PDF
Tools for paraphrasing are regarded as significant educational resources that support academia. Both professionals and students can use these technologies to make their jobs easier. But the effectiveness of these paraphrasing techniques needs to be evaluated and assessed. This study examines the syntactic similarities and differences between the original and the paraphrased text to evaluate the quality of automated paraphrasing performed by such tools. The data used in this analysis comes from QuillBot's paraphrasing of both literary and non-literary texts. Through the corpus tool AntConc, syntactic features were studied. The HSO measure in WordNet was also utilized to measure the relatedness between sentences at the aforementioned level. There were many variations between the original and the paraphrased text. The automated paraphrase of non-literary text by QuillBot is closer to the original text than that of literary text. Syntactic modifications were discovered, including changes to word order, tense, voice number, and grammatical category. These modifications occasionally skewed the message while other times they elaborated it. Therefore, manual revision and rechecking of automatic paraphrases should be done rather than taking it for granted. While conventional technologies, like QuillBot, might be depended on for paraphrasing of non-literary text, it needs to be manually verified and updated in addition to the automated paraphrase of literary content carried out by such programs. A multi-robot educational and research framework

    Get PDF
Robots have greatly transformed human’s life. Multi-disciplinary research in robotics essentially demands having sophisticated frameworks with diverse range of capabilities ranging from simple tasks like testing of control algorithms to handling complex scenarios like multiple robot coordination. The present research addresses this demand by proposing a reliable, versatile and cheap platform enriched with enormous features. The framework has been conceptualized with three robots having different drive mechanisms, sensing and communication capabilities. The proposed ‘Wanderbot’ family consists of ForkerBot, MasterBot and HexaBot. The ForkerBot is a four-wheeled robot equipped with ultra sonic range finder, wheel encoder, bump sensor, temperature sensor, GSM, GPS and RF communication modules. The robot, having a payload capacity of 8 pounds, supports both Differential and Ackerman drive mechanisms and can be used to validate advanced obstacle avoidance algorithms. The MasterBot is also a wheeled robot with an on-board camera and is skid-steered. The robot finds potential in research on image processing and computer vision and in analysis and validation of algorithms requiring high-level computations like complex path traversal. The third member in the Wander family, HexaBot, is a six-legged robot, which is able to exhibit the movement of tripod gait and can be used for investigating walking and climbing algorithms. The three members of Wander family can communicate with one another, thus making it a good candidate for research on coordinated multi-robots. Additionally, such a prototyped platform with vast attractive features finds potential in an academic and vocational environment

THE EFFECTS OF SEED SOAKING WITH PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS ON SEEDLING VIGOR OF WHEAT UNDER SALINITY STRESS

    Get PDF
Effects of seed soaking with plant growth regulators (IAA, GA3, kinetin or prostart) on wheat (Triticum aestivum cv. Auqab-2000) emergence and seedling growth under normal (4 dS/cm) and saline (15 dS/cm) conditions were studied to determine their usefulness in increasing relative salt-tolerance. During emergence test, emergence percentage and mean emergence time (MET) were significantly affected by most of priming treatments, however, root and shoot length, fresh and dry weight of seedlings were significantly increased by 25 ppm kinetin followed by 1% prostart for 2 h treatments under both normal and saline conditions. All pre-sowing seed treatments decreased the electrolyte leakage of steep water as compared to that of non-primed seeds even after 12 h of soaking. Seed soaking with 25 ppm kinetin induced maximum decrease in electrolyte leakage while an increase in electrolyte leakage was observed by 25, 50 or 100 ppm IAA treatments. It is concluded that priming has reduced the severity of the effect of salinity but the amelioration was better due to 25 ppm kinetin and 1% prostart (2 h) treatments as these showed best results on seedling growth, fresh and dry weights under non-saline and saline conditions whereas seed soaking with IAA and GA3 were not effective in inducing salt tolerance under present experimental material and conditions
