The increasing importance of hydrogen technologies is demanding prepared professionals in the numerous topics related to this energy vector. Apart from some basic and advanced courses given by actual experts in these topics, universities must play an important role in the general formation of future professionals. In this way, the International Campus of Excellence (ICE) Andalucía TECH has created several degrees taught jointly by its participating universities of Seville (US) and Málaga (UMA). Among those degrees, Energy Engineering is the best suited to the field of this conference because this degree provide future engineers with specialized training in energy generation, transformation and management. In relation to hydrogen technologies this degree includes a cross sectional optional unit named Hydrogen Based Systems (4.5 ECTS/112.5 h), which is placed in the last term of the fourth year and sharing space with work placement and mobility courses. This paper will present some author’s experiences as teachers of that unit during its short history of only three years. In spite of being a joint degree, which is coordinated between both universities (US and UMA) trying to give similar contents, it is interesting to highlight the differential experiences coming from the teachers of both universities in relation to the teaching methodologies and academic results.Universidad de Málaga. The new information reported in this paper is based on 11 specimens of the large-tuberculate octopus Graneledone macrotyla. These specimens were caught in bottom trawl surveys ATLANTIS 2009 and 2010 carried out on the Patagonian slope off the Argentinean Economic Exclusive Zone between 24 February and 1 April 2009 and from 9 March to 5 April 2010 respectively. A new diagnosis and a complete description of the species are provided. This is the first time that stylets, beaks and spermatophores are described. This is also the first time in which mature females have been studied and the female genitalia described. Like other eledonid octopods, G. macrotyla does not have spermathecae in the oviducal glands. The presence of fertilized eggs inside the ovary suggests that fertilization takes place within the ovary. The simultaneous occurrence of oocyte cohorts at different oogenic stages suggests that the species is a multiple spawner. G. macrotyla inhabits shallower waters on the Patagonian slope (475-921 m) than in the subantartic area (1647-2044 m). From a biogeographical point of view, our data show that G. macrotyla inhabits the plume of cold subantarctic waters, which is pushed far north into the southwestern Atlantic by the Falkland (Malvinas) Current.

Inhibidor de PARP; Olaparib; Càncer d'ovari recurrent resistent al platíInhibidor de PARP; Olaparib; Cáncer de ovario recurrente resistente al platinoPARP inhibitor; Olaparib; Platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancerBackground There is limited evidence for the benefit of olaparib in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer (PROC) patients with BRCA wild-type tumors. This study investigated whether this combination of a DNA-damaging chemotherapy plus olaparib is effective in PROC regardless BRCA status. Patients and methods Patients with high-grade serous or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma and one previous PROC recurrence were enrolled regardless of BRCA status. Patients with ≤4 previous lines (up to 5 in BRCA-mut) with at least one previous platinum-sensitive relapse were included; primary PROC was allowed only in case of BRCA-mut. Patients initially received six cycles of olaparib 300 mg b.i.d. (biduum) + intravenous pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) 40 mg/m2 (PLD40) every 28 days, followed by maintenance with olaparib 300 mg b.i.d. until progression or toxicity. The PLD dose was reduced to 30 mg/m2 (PLD30) due to toxicity. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) at 6 months (6m-PFS) by RECIST version 1.1. A proportion of 40% 6m-PFS or more was considered of clinical interest. Results From 2017 to 2020, 31 PROC patients were included. BRCA mutations were present in 16%. The median of previous lines was 2 (range 1-5). The overall disease control rate was 77% (partial response rate of 29% and stable disease rate of 48%). After a median follow-up of 10 months, the 6m-PFS and median PFS were 47% and 5.8 months, respectively. Grade ≥3 treatment-related adverse events occurred in 74% of patients, with neutropenia/anemia being the most frequent. With PLD30 serious AEs were less frequent than with PLD40 (21% versus 47%, respectively); moreover, PLD30 was associated with less PLD delays (32% versus 38%) and reductions (16% versus 22%). Conclusions The PLD–olaparib combination has shown significant activity in PROC regardless of BRCA status. PLD at 30 mg/m2 is better tolerated in the combination. This work was supported by Grupo Español de Investigación en Cáncer de Ovario (GEICO) (no grant number). AstraZeneca provided olaparib and awarded a grant to GEICO (no grant number) to pay the costs of the study but did not take part in the conduct of the current clinical trial or in the analysis and interpretation of the results. Pegylated ribosomal doxorubicin was provided by the sites according to local standard procedures

LA PERSONA EN EL PROCESO DE MUERTE

One of the greatest aspects that nursing usually deal with in their daily practice is the death of the person they are looking alter, and in many cases is considered as a failure of the therapeutic and care action, and so rejected due to its traumatic aspect for professionals and clients of sanitary attention. The poor study of our responsibilities when taking care of a person, defined by V. Henderson as “the help to a dignified death” makes us think about the cycle health-illness-death, to comprehend a process where nursing professionals can and have to be a fundamental help for the patient and his family. In this work we have tried to reflect on death process from philosophy and anthropology, with the aim of defusing, assume and relate our practice to this reality social and professionally rejected to help a person to die decently.

Free radicals are highly reactive oxidation agents, which act as short-lived chemical  intermediates on lipids, amino acids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. When there is an imbalance and the amount of free radicals exceeds the balance between oxidant production and antioxidant capacity in the cell, a phenomenon known as oxidative stress is generated, which has negative consequences on multiple cellular processes, both in females as in males and therefore negative effect on fertility and reproductive performance. In this work, the oxidative stress in the spermatozoa, plasma membrane, mitochondria, acrosome and DNA is briefly described, as well as the effect of oxidative stress on female and male fertility.

Automatic Classification of Field Winding Faults in Synchronous Motors based on Bicoherence Image Segmentation and Higher Order Statistics of Stray Flux Signals

[EN] In this work, the application of the bicoherence (a squared normalized version of the bispectrum) of the stray flux signal is proposed as a way of detecting faults in the field winding of synchronous motors. These signals are analyzed both under the starting and at steady state regime. Likewise, two quantitative indicators are proposed, the first one based on the maximum values of the asymmetry and the kurtosis of the bicoherence matrix obtained from the flux signals and the second one relying on an algorithm based on the bicoherence image segmentation of the obtained pattern for each analyzed state. The results are analyzed through a comparative study for the two considered motor regimes, obtaining satisfactory results that sustain the potential application of the proposed methodology for the automatic field winding fault detection in real applications.Miguel E. Feasibility study of culture of the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) in different Galician rias (northwest Spain): First biological results

    Get PDF
Batches of the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) have been experimentally cultivated in three rías from Galicia (northwest Spain) using two different techniques: raft and intertidal culture. Performance of these batches was assessed by analysing the growth, mortality and quality of the oysters produced. First results suggested a good growth in the majority of the raft-cultured batches and in the intertidal zone with commercial oysters after 14 months. Mortality was low ( 15 %), especially in intertidal culture. Oysters were affected by blisters and mud worms, but without impairment to their market acceptability.
