Solution to the Equations of the Moment Expansions

    Get PDF
We develop a formula for matching a Taylor series about the origin and an asymptotic exponential expansion for large values of the coordinate. We test it on the expansion of the generating functions for the moments and connected moments of the Hamiltonian operator. In the former case the formula produces the energies and overlaps for the Rayleigh-Ritz method in the Krylov space. We choose the harmonic oscillator and a strongly anharmonic oscillator as illustrative examples for numerical test. Our results reveal some features of the connected-moments expansion that were overlooked in earlier studies and applications of the approach

The analysis of media content for children is one of the most demanded expert ethical tasks from the moan of society and requires special training of experts.  A scientific seminar in the format of a roundtable was held with the aim of developing and testing a methodology for the ethical expertise of children's media and media content addressed to a children's audience.  The research group proposed to the participants of the roundtable in advance the methodology for conducting the ethical review.  The 3rd year students of the Applied Ethics direction of training took part in the roundtable. Students presented the ethical review of children's media.  As an object of assessment, students chose animated films that have a large audience coverage and affect the consciousness of the child.  The scientific seminar made it possible to identify the most difficult and problematic areas of ethical expertise of such a cultural product as children's media.

The large number of patients and the uniqueness of their diseases demand a considerable amount of diverse and highly personalized therapies, that are nowadays largely managed manually. This paper aims at catering for the emergent need of efficient and effective artificial intelligence systems for the support of the everyday activities of centers like Casa dos Marcos. We present six predictive data models developed with a genetic programming based system which, integrated into a web-application, enabled data-driven support for the therapists in Casa dos Marcos. The presented results clearly indicate the usefulness of the system in assisting complex therapeutic procedures for children suffering from rare diseases.authorsversionpublishe

High--order connected moments expansion for the Rabi Hamiltonian

    Get PDF
We analyze the convergence properties of the connected moments expansion (CMX) for the Rabi Hamiltonian. To this end we calculate the moments and connected moments of the Hamiltonian operator to a sufficiently large order. Our large--order results suggest that the CMX is not reliable for most practical purposes because the expansion exhibits considerable oscillations.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, 1 tabl

    Magnetic Properties of UCo1-xFexSn

The magnetic properties of UCo1-xFexSn solid solutions in the limited homogeneity range up to x=0.15 were studied. A monotonous increase of both TC (from 83 K to 98.5 K) and the magnetic moment (from 1.21 μB f.u.-1 to 1.29 μB f.u.-1) with increasing Fe content has been observed. This behaviour is discussed in terms of a varying 5f-d hybridization. © 1995.The stayso f two of the authors( M.I.B. and A.V.A.) at the ISSP Tokyo, duringw hichpart of this work has been done, were financiallys upportedb y the Inoue ScienceF oundationa nd by the Ministry of Education, Sciencea ndC ultureo f Japan. MAGNETIZATION ANISOTROPY OF YCo3 AND YFe3 COMPOUNDS

Anisotropy of magnetization is the difference between the saturation magnetizations along the hard magnetization axis (HA) and the easy magnetization axis (EA). The magnetization curves of YFe3 and YCo3 single crystals, which have prominent magnetization anisotropy, were measured in the temperature ranges up to 560 and 330 K, respectively. The temperature dependences of the saturation magnetization along EA and HA, as well as the parameter p characterizing the magnetization anisotropy, are established and analyzed

High Field Magnetization of a NdCu2 Single Crystal

    Get PDF
Studies of the high-field magnetization on a single crystal of NdCu2 with the field along the three principal crystallographic directions are presented. A crossing of the magnetization curves along the a- and b-axes is observed. The order of magnetization along each axis in high magnetic fields is then (μc < μb < μa). This behaviour is discussed in terms of a microscopic hamiltonian including crystal-field and Zeeman interactions. © 1995.This work was financially supported by 'Stichting voor Fundamenteel Onderzoek der Materie', the Charles University Grant Agency (Project 288), the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (Project 202/93/0184) and Department of Energy of USA

Construction task allocation through the collective perception of a dynamic environment

    Get PDF
Building structures is a remarkable collective process but its automation remains an open challenge. Robot swarms provide a promising solution to this challenge. However, collective construction involves a number of difficulties regarding efficient robots allocation to the different activities, particularly if the goal is to reach an optimal construction rate. In this paper, we study an abstract construction scenario, where a swarm of robots is engaged in a collective perception process to estimate the density of building blocks around a construction site. The goal of this perception process is to maintain a minimum density of blocks available to the robots for construction. To maintain this density, the allocation of robots to the foraging task needs to be adjusted such that enough blocks are retrieved. Our results show a robust collective perception that enables the swarm to maintain a minimum block density under different rates of construction and foraging. Our approach leads the system to stabilize around a state in which the robots allocation allows the swarm to maintain a tile density that is close to or above the target minimum.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedDorigo, M.
