This article deals with a research activity to design and to build a vibration energy harvesting (VEH) mechanism based on an electromagnetic method, where the energy source is from translational-harmonic vibration. In the developed VEH mechanism, a magnetic mass moves linearly back and forth within an electrical coil made from conductive-wire windings. In accordance to oscillating mass motion of a particular amplitude and frequency, the voltage which can be harvested is then measured and analyzed. The choice of an electromagnetic method stemmed from the availability of materials to construct the VEH mechanism. In the VEH mechanism, a mass size, a wire diameter and material, a coil length, and a vibration amplitude and frequency were considered constant, while the number of wire turns was varied. The constructed VEH was tested for 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, and 3,000wire turns. The voltage density being harvested was recorded as 0.2820, 0.3715, 0.5695, 0.7343 and 0.9300 volt/cm3, respectively

An industry in Islamic Economics is required to compete perfectly regardless of its market structure. How to ensure this rule being implemented in reality, however, has been neglected either in literatures or by industry supervisors. This paper is aimed at proposing a systematic procedure to test the industry compliance toward islamic competition rules. The advance of theory and empirics of New Empirical Industrial Organization is used to formulate the procedure. There are two conditions to satisfy for an industry to have an islamic competition. The first and necessary condition is rejecting the Traditional Hypothesis which is based on collutive bahaviour of dominant banks. The second and sufficient condition is, the perfect competition is driven more by the intention of syariah compliance rather than due to the pressure of contestability

With the rapid development of science, the relationship between variables are very complex and complicated which often experienced problems in their analysis. Structural Equation Model (SEM) is a statistical analysis method that is able to estimate the multiple relationship among variables, and patterns of relationship among the indicator of variables and measurement of error simultaneously. This paper aims to elaborate the implementation of the SEM to analyze the factors that affect the level of partnership in the agribusiness supply chain of potatoe seed. Sources of data were the results of a survey of 175 seed growers and farmers partners in Garut district of West Java Province, in 2013 . The model was designed to follow the stages of SEM and further data were processed by Lisrel 8.72 software. The results of SEM implementation showed its ability to: (i) identify the factors that affect the level of partnership by measuring the validity and reliability of the manifest variables (indicators) used as a measuring instrument, (ii) to test the hypotheses that was built in the model, (iii) be adapted to rearrange the appropriate partnership model in the future

An evaluation of three DoE-guided meta-heuristic-based solution methods for a three-echelon sustainable distribution network

This article evaluates the efficiency of three meta-heuristic optimiser (viz. MOGA-II, MOPSO and NSGA-II)-based solution methods for designing a sustainable three-echelon distribution network. The distribution network employs a bi-objective location-routing model. Due to the mathematically NP-hard nature of the model a multi-disciplinary optimisation commercial platform, modeFRONTIER®, is adopted to utilise the solution methods. The proposed Design of Experiment (DoE)-guided solution methods are of two phased that solve the NP-hard model to attain minimal total costs and total CO2 emission from transportation. Convergence of the optimisers are tested and compared. Ranking of the realistic results are examined using Pareto frontiers and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution approach, followed by determination of the optimal transportation routes. A case of an Irish dairy processing industry’s three-echelon logistics network is considered to validate the solution methods. The results obtained through the proposed methods provide information on open/closed distribution centres (DCs), vehicle routing patterns connecting plants to DCs, open DCs to retailers and retailers to retailers, and number of trucks required in each route to transport the products. It is found that the DoE-guided NSGA-II optimiser based solution is more efficient when compared with the DoE-guided MOGA-II and MOPSO optimiser based solution methods in solving the bi-objective NP-hard three-echelon sustainable model. This efficient solution method enable managers to structure the physical distribution network on the demand side of a logistics network, minimising total cost and total CO2 emission from transportation while satisfying all operational constraints
