The Progress Test of the European Hematology Association: A New Tool for Continuous Learning

The European Hematology Curriculum, first launched in 2006, was created by the European Hematology Association (EHA) with the aim of harmonizing hema tology training in Europe. Its goals were to define the different areas hematologists are expected to cover during their training, and to establish the minimum recommended levels of competence that a hematology trainee should attain. EHA's education platform (EHA Campus) offers opportu nities for continuous learning for both trainees and specialists. Content is guided by the European Hematology Curriculum, which provides a structure for individual study and self-assess ment. To complete this organized learning environment, a tool for objective assessment of knowledge during and after specialist training was needed. In the spring of 2020, EHA started offering a progress test: a longitudinal test based on equivalent evalua tions given at fixed intervals, assessing developments in knowl edge. The EHA Progress Test was inspired by an earlier version developed by the Swedish Hematology Association in 2013, which has become widely used by specialist trainees and spe cialists in Sweden. Noticeable pedagogical effects, like targeted study efforts in weak knowledge areas, changes in clinical rota tions, and more have been reported in personal questionnaires

L'harmonització de la formació en Hematologia i el seu examen a Europa

Harmonitzar la formació mèdica en l'àmbit de l'Hematologia en tota Europa persegueix aconseguir que tots els ciutadans europeus rebin la mateixa qualitat d'atenció mèdica, independentment de quin sigui el seu país de residència i facilitar la mobilitat dels especialistes. Amb aquest objectiu marcat, la Societat Europea d'Hematologia (EHA), de la qual formen part investigadors de la UAB i altres centres vinculats, proposa un model d'examen únic i de qualitat sobre aquest àmbit d'especialització, amb preguntes que permetin avaluar el major nombre de capacitats adquirides durant la formació dels professionals i plantejant escenaris el més reals possible. Fins avui s'han realitzat ja tres edicions.Armonizar la formación médica en el ámbito de la Hematología en toda Europa persigue lograr que todos los ciudadanos europeos reciban la misma calidad de atención médica, independientemente de cuál sea su país de residencia y facilitar la movilidad de los especialistas. Con este objetivo marcado, la Sociedad Europea de Hematología (EHA), de la que forman parte investigadores de la UAB y otros centros vinculados, propone un modelo de examen único y de calidad sobre este ámbito de especialización, con preguntas que permitan evaluar el mayor número de capacidades adquiridas durante la formación de los profesionales y planteando escenarios lo más reales posible. Exam questions are designed to allow evaluating the greatest number of skills acquired during the training of professionals, and pose as realistic scenarios as possible.
