Reading represents one of the most important skills in any language. When a student develops high reading comprehension levels, He opens a door to have success in different fields of the life. This paper reports the procedure of collecting valuable data of the needs and reading comprehension problems of a ninth grade students of the Institución Técnica Industrial de Sabanalarga, in order to design and implement partially a syllabus on the basis of the Genre-based approach. Some important reading comprehension strategies have been described and practiced in the activities proposed in this course. This intervention involved the exposure and analysis of the structure and patterns of two types of narrative texts (fables and short stories), identifying some linguistics features, learning new vocabulary focused on the development of two Genre-based approach phases which are Modelling and deconstruction of the text. The results of this intervention showed that the use of suitable reading strategies in these genres increased the motivation and interest of the students in understanding what they were reading and showed that improved their reading comprehension level.MaestríaMagister en la Enseñanza del Ingle

Embodied energy optimization of prestressed concrete slab bridge decks

[EN] This paper presents one approach to the analysis and design of post-tensioned cast-in-place concrete slab bridge decks. A Simulated Annealing algorithm is applied to two objective functions: (i) the economic cost; and (ii) the embodied energy at different stages of production materials, transport, and construction. The problem involved 33 discrete design variables: five geometrical ones dealing with the thickness of the slab, the inner and exterior web width, and two flange thicknesses; concrete type; prestressing cables, and 26 variables for the reinforcement set-up. The comparison of the results obtained shows two different optimum families, which indicates that the traditional criteria of economic optimization leads to inefficient designs considering the embodied energy. The results indicate that the objectives are not competing functions, and that optimum energy designs are close to the optimum cost designs. The analysis also showed that the savings of each kW h of energy consumed carries an extra cost of 0.49Euro. The best cost solution presents 5.3% more embodied energy. The best energy solution is 9.7% more expensive than that of minor cost. In addition, the results have showed that the best cost solutions are not the best energy solutions. The authors acknowledge the financial support of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, along with FEDER funding (Project: BIA2017-85098-R).Alcalá González, J.; Gonzalez Vidosa, F.; Yepes, V.; Martí Albiñana, JV. Discrimination of milks with a multisensor system based on layer-by-layer films

    Get PDF
Producción CientíficaA nanostructured electrochemical bi-sensor system for the analysis of milks has been developed using the layer-by-layer technique. The non-enzymatic sensor [CHI+IL/CuPcS]2, is a layered material containing a negative film of the anionic sulfonated copper phthalocyanine (CuPcS) acting as electrocatalytic material, and a cationic layer containing a mixture of an ionic liquid (IL) (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) that enhances the conductivity, and chitosan (CHI), that facilitates the enzyme immobilization. The biosensor ([CHI+IL/CuPcS]2-GAO) results from the immobilization of galactose oxidase on the top of the LbL layers. FTIR, UV–vis, and AFM have confirmed the proposed structure and cyclic voltammetry has demonstrated the amplification caused by the combination of materials in the film. Sensors have been combined to form an electronic tongue for milk analysis. Principal component analysis has revealed the ability of the sensor system to discriminate between milk samples with different lactose content. Using a PLS-1 calibration models, correlations have been found between the voltammetric signals and chemical parameters measured by classical methods. PLS-1 models provide excellent correlations with lactose content. Additional information about other components, such as fats, proteins, and acidity, can also be obtained. The method developed is simple, and the short response time permits its use in assaying milk samples online.

Poblament. The “José María Soler” Archaeological Museum of Villena began a research project at the old settlement of the Villena Valley in august 2006. In this article we present the results of the first archaeological field survey campaign carried out at the site of “El Campo”, in the north of the valley. Traditionally, this area had provided vestiges from Roman times. The materials located this year have been fundamentally pottery, although of a great novelty, because they inform us, for the first time ever, of the presence of late ancient establishments of the 6th-7th centuries and likewise, of the Early Medieval Age, all of which would allow us to have a wider sequence in this part of the territory encompassing from the recent Prehistory up to the Lower Medieval Age. NoCo: ILP-based worst-case contention estimation for mesh real-time manycores

    Get PDF
Manycores are capable of providing the computational demands required by functionally-advanced critical applications in domains such as automotive and avionics. In manycores a network-on-chip (NoC) provides access to shared caches and memories and hence concentrates most of the contention that tasks suffer, with effects on the worst-case contention delay (WCD) of packets and tasks' WCET. While several proposals minimize the impact of individual NoC parameters on WCD, e.g. mapping and routing, there are strong dependences among these NoC parameters. Hence, finding the optimal NoC configurations requires optimizing all parameters simultaneously, which represents a multidimensional optimization problem. In this paper we propose NoCo, a novel approach that combines ILP and stochastic optimization to find NoC configurations in terms of packet routing, application mapping, and arbitration weight allocation. Our results show that NoCo improves other techniques that optimize a subset of NoC parameters. This work has been partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness under grant TIN2015- 65316-P and the HiPEAC Network of Excellence. The present work arose from the need to recognize the perception of Bullying or having members of the educational community of the different grades of elementary school of a public educational institution of Pereira which is part of this investigation. For this a playroom for mental health and living, to create spaces of interaction allowed for the observation of the problem and data collection was established. This historical hermeneutic paradigm oriented phenomenological qualitative research was implemented , also used as tools for data collection, interviews, observation and diary, where the resulting categories and analyzed on bullying and Bullying are types , concepts, luggers , the handling is given and prevention activities. When confronted with the information obtained theoretical framework, we can determine that the educational community has a right concept of this problem arising from physical , verbal , psychological and social way , occurring mainly in academic circles and in different places of the Institution , and very little in external spaces of it. While the management of victims and observers is to go to an adult , either in the school or family, who tries to solve these situations through strategies such as dialogue , the silent stalkers either unconsciously consciously or by knowing the consequences that can result from them . It is evident that , although several forms and activities in the educational institution with which it comes to preventing bullying and Bullying at different grade levels, there are many students who say they have not participated in the programs they to recognize and treat this problem. Since the recommendations are declared using the Toy Library for mental health and living established in the institution, as a tool that allows them to not only create opportunities to identify this problem, but also treat and prevent . In addition to raising and training processes with principals, teachers , students and parents of School , to learn , to try and reduce bullying and bullying as a problem that affects the school environment and the overall development of students
