Praying Unceasingly: The Jesus Prayer

This article elucidates the theology and practice of the Jesus Prayer. Prayer, to the average person, is asking God for something. But, the Jesus prayer is not this. It is an attempt to change the one who prays. This prayer is traditionally a monastic prayer. Its simplicity allows everyone to practice it. In this prayer, there is faith and hope in the goodness of Christ. It is the prayer from our whole being. It is a cry out of the deep heart and nepsis without ceasing. The unceasing repetition of the Jesus Prayer kept the mind on the thought of God and dispersed all irrelevant thoughts (logismoi). This is the prayer requires watchfulness as a lantern requires a candle. Watchfulness, mature in Christ, the fruit of Spirit, and theosis will follow in the praying unceasingly: the Jesus Prayer

Renewing the Nous: Watchfulness and Praying

Abstract. This paper is a review of renewing and guarding the nous in the Philokalia teaching. The Philokalia is a collection of spiritual texts written between the fourth and fifteenth centuries by the monks of the Orthodox Christian tradition. Christian spirituality is very concrete and practical not mysterious or abstract. Its various aspects are described well in the Philokalia but the Philokalia remains relatively unknown while people seek to satisfy their thirst by consuming from the heresies teaching that ever existed from the beginning of time. One of the most important spiritual aspects that needs to be re-discovered today is renewing the intellect or nous. The fathers of Philokalia concern much on the renewing and guarding the nous. The way to renew the nous is only guarding the nous with all nepsis (prosoche) and praying (proseuche). They emphasized nepsis or watchfulness because the arch - enemy of the soul is a certain kind of thought which they described with the word logismoi. Nepsis and praying are the way to contend against the logismoi and the passions

Perbandingan Perhitungan Return Portofolio Antara Fama and French Three Factors Model Dan Capital Asset Pricing Model Pada Bursa Efek Indonesia Periode 2005-2013

CAPM is old theory that used to be taught in most of business school today. But empirically this model is fail to explain excess return of portfolio. The study seeks to determine the risk factors in asset pricing in the Indonesian Stock Exchange through a comparative analysis of the three factors model and the Capital Asset Pricing Model. In this research, each Daily Return are analyzed using Fama French and CAPM Model. Both model are compared its R2 result and tested using F test and T test. Our finding is the R2 result are not really different between Fama French Model and CAPM. Our result confirm that CAPM still good asset pricing model base on our sample experiment

Analisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi struktur modal di Bursa Efek Indonesia

Capital structure is a combination of capital and debt so that it is very influential on the company's financial position. To finance operations, companies can use funds from debt or capital. However, the company's management must know whether the company is able to bear the financial risks or costs of these funds to prevent the company's bankruptcy. The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors that influence the capital structure. The independent variables are corporate tax rates, non-debt tax savings, investment opportunity sets, sales growth, and profitability. The sample data tested were obtained from the annual reports of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The reporting period used in this study was five years and amounted to 2,210. The data obtained were then processed through the SPSS 25 and Eviews 10 systems. The results revealed that corporate tax rates and profitability have a significant negative effect on capital structure. There is a significant positive effect of the investment opportunity set variable and sales growth on the owned capital structure. Another finding is that non-debt tax savings have no significant effect on capital structure

Godaan Seorang Imam dalam Pelayanan menurut Yohanes Krisostomus

Abstract. This article discussed how a priest (church elder or overseer) can overcome worldly temptations through three spiritual disciplines or ascesis: prayer, fasting, and inner guarding. This article used the analytical and argumentative methods in literature written by John Chrysostom in his book "On the Priesthood" and the writings of the Church Fathers to contribute to the ministry of a priest. These three points of ascesis produce a holiness which makes him more Christlike. First, through prayer a priest can practice defeating the temptations and passions that arise from within his soul. Second, through fasting he is trained to overcome the temptations and passions that arise from the body or the flesh. Third, through inner vigilance (nepsis) he will be able to overcome the temptations of Satan who has continually seduced humans throughout the ages. These three asceses are aimed at bringing and guiding a priest to live a holy life, that is, against the desires of the flesh or worldly temptations and to produce good fruits that can be practiced in the ministry and society.Abstrak. Artikel ini mengkaji tentang cara seorang imam (penatua atau pengawas gereja) dalam mengatasi godaan-godaan duniawi melalui tiga disiplin rohani atau askesis: doa, puasa, dan keberjagaan batin. Artikel ini menggunakan metode analistis dan argumentatif di dalam literatur yang ditulis oleh Yohanes Krisostomus dalam bukunya “On The Priesthood” dan tulisan para Bapa-bapa Gereja untuk memberikan kontribusi bagi pelayanan seorang imam. Ketiga pokok askesis ini menghasilkan kekudusan yang semakin menyempurnakan dia menjadi serupa Kristus. Pertama, melalui doa seorang imam dapat berlatih mengalahkan godaan dan nafsu yang timbul dari dalam jiwanya. Kedua, melalui puasa dia dilatih untuk mengalahkan godaan dan nafsu yang timbul dari tubuh atau daging. Ketiga, melalui keberjagaan batin (nepsis) dia akan bisa mengatasi godaan dari Iblis yang senantiasa tanpa henti menggoda manusia di sepanjang zaman. Ketiga askesis ini bertujuan membawa dan menuntun seorang imam untuk hidup kudus yaitu melawan keinginan daging atau godaan-godaan duniawi dan menghasilkan buah-buah kebajikan yang bisa dipraktikkan di pelayanan dan masyarakat

Metode yang digunakan dalam pembuatan skripsi ini adalah metode FAST (Framework for The Application of System Thinking). Metode ini merupakan gabungan praktik – praktik terbaik yang ditemui dalam banyak metodologi referensi dan komersial. Dengan kata lain FAST adalah kerangka cerdas yang cukup fleksibel untuk menyediakan tipe – tipe berbeda proyek dan strategi. Penulisan ini dilakukan dengan membandingkan pelaksanaan sistem lama dengan teori – teori dari buku – buku yang penulis pelajari dalam penulisan skripsi. Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan penulis antara lain : menganalisis masalah, melakukan studi kelayakan, penerapan serta pemeliharaan dan evaluasi. Konsep Jalan Kehidupan dan Kematian Menurut Kitab Didakhe Pasal 1-6

Abstract. The book of Didache is a non-canonical book in the Bible, therefore, the teachings of the book are not widely known, discussed, and taught. However, the book contains deep morality teachings. This article aimed to explore the teachings in the book so that we can explain the concept of the path of life and death as it was taught in the Bible. The study was conducted by using a descriptive-analytical approach based on Alistair Stewart’s view in his book “On the Way Life and Death, Light or Darkness: Foundation Texts in The Tradition.” From this study, that the teachings of the Book of Didache help believers to have spirituality discipline and lead to holiness of life so that believers no longer live in sins that will lead to death.Abstrak. Kitab Didakhe bukanlah Kitab kanonikal dalam Alkitab, oleh sebab itu ajaran dalam Kitab tersebut tidak banyak diketahui, dibahas, dan diajarkan. Namun demikian, Kitab tersebut mengandung ajaran moral yang dalam. Tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk menggali ajaran dalam kitab tersebut yang dapat menjelaskan konsep jalan kehidupan dan kematian sebagaimana yang diajarkan dalam Alkitab. Kajian dalam artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis dengan mendasarkan pada pandangan Alistair Stewart dalam bukunya“On The Way Life and Death, Light or Darkness: Foundation Texts In The Tradition.” Dari kajian tersebut diperoleh hasil bahwa ajaran Kitab Didakhe menolong orang percaya untuk mendisplinkan diri dalam spiritualitas serta menuntun kepada kekudusan hidup sehingga orang percaya tidak lagi hidup di dalam dosa yang akan mendatangkan kematian

PENGARUH PROMOSI DAN CITRA MEREK TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN PADA PT ALVA NIAGA BANINDO

The purpose of this study was to determine promotion and brand image that affect the purchase decision at PT Alva Niaga Banindo with the sampling technique used is non-probability sampling using saturation sampling for the number of samples 115. The results of the coefficient of determination (R2) obtained are the promotion variables and the brand image that is approved 66.7% of the purchasing decisions at PT Alva Niaga Banindo. From the results of multiple linear regression shows that Y = 8,951 + 0.783 (X1) + -0.131 (X2). T test results indicate promotion has an influence on purchasing decisions Sig = 0,000 <0.05; t-count = 14.936), and brand image is not required to significantly influence the purchasing decisions (Sig = 0.071> 0.05; t-calculate = -1,821). The f test results show that promotion and simultaneous brand image have a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions at PT Alva Niaga Banindo (Sig = 0,000 <0.05; f-count = 112,40

Analisis Kapasitas Daya Trafo Pada Pemeriksaan K3 Instalasi Listrik di PT. Win Textile

Salah satu penyebab terjadinya gangguan pada trafo adalah pembebanan yang melebihi kemampuan trafo. Keadaan beban lebih yang terus menerus akan mempengaruhi umur trafo dan mengakibatkan berkurangnya kapasitas trafo. Penurunan kapasitas, pembebanan pada trafo tidak akan maksimal dan meningkatkan resiko kerusakan. Tindakan yang dilakukan untuk upaya penurunan gangguan akibat pembebanan trafo adalah dengan pengujian transformator dan diketahui beberapa persen penurunan kapasitas trafo. Data hasil pengujian digunakan untuk menghitung reduksi kapasitas daya trafo. hasil analisis pada kapsitas daya trafo berkaitan dengan keadaan ideal trafo dan pembebanan yang tidak melebihi kapasitas daya trafo
