On moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on Enriques surfaces

We describe some one-dimensional moduli spaces of rank 2 Gieseker semistable sheaves on an Enriques surface improving earlier results of H. Kim. In case of a nodal Enriques surface the obtained moduli spaces are reducible for general polarizations. For unnodal Enriques surfaces we show how to reduce the study of moduli spaces of high even rank Gieseker semistable sheaves to low ranks. To prove this we use the method of K. Yoshioka who showed that in the odd rank one can reduce to rank 1.Comment: 16 page

IZBOR UNUTARNJEG TRANSPORTA NA GRADILIŠTU VISOKOGRADNJE

    Get PDF
On the construction site, horizontal and vertical transport have a great significance for works development and work dynamics. In order to coordinate and as efficiently as possible perform work processes, the correct choice of mechanization is needed. This paper will present what construction site transport really is and its divisions, means of transport with emphasis on the tower crane, and ways and possibilities of performing temporary construction site roads. Furthermore, the paper contains the practical part of eleven schemes of construction site organization on which the construction site roads will be analysed

Remembering the past, predicting the future : John Steinbeck's explorations of Cold War Russia in "A Russian journal"

    Get PDF
"A Russian Journal", published in 1948, is an unusual record of the great other side of Russia, wherein American Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck and the distinguished photojournalist Robert Capa struggle to present the Soviet Union in cultural rather than political terms. The authors make a sweeping journey through the USSR, portraying the landscapes and ways of life of ordinary Russians who were emerging from the rubble of WWII with the hope of peaceful coexistence of capitalism and communism in the atomic decade. Reporting on the unknown, Steinbeck and Capa take up a delicate task of introducing simple and unexplored truths about America‘s wartime ally and its immediate postwar adversary. Consequently, A Russian Journal becomes a unique journalistic account of two countries trapped in the rigidities of the Cold War miscommunication patterns

Pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysms from the vascular surgeon perspective – knowledge summary

    Get PDF
Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) affect 2.4% of the population, with men being five times more likely to be affected than women. The development of AAA is linked to changes in the elastin and vascular wall collagen. The enzymes that damage the cell wall are called metalloproteinases. AAA forms as a result of damage to elastic fibres and the loss of the property of reversible deformation of the aortic wall. The degradation of elastin and other stem proteins in the aortic wall is caused by metalloproteinases and serine proteases, accompanied by cysteine proteases and asparagine proteases. Increased calprotectin levels are observed in AAA patients in comparison to patients with a healthy aorta. A significant role in the pathogenesis of AAA and its rupture is played by inflammatory response cells; proteases of the tissue plasma coagulation and fibrinolysis. Plasminogen activator and plasmin accelerate the degradation of the aortic wall. Microbial involvement of C. pneumoniae, Helicobacter pylori, CMV, and HIV is considered in this inflammatory reaction. The local activation of platelets and the plasma coagulation system leads to the formation of a mural thrombus filling the lumen of the aneurysm. The mural thrombus shows a high tissue factor (TF) activity. The formation of AAA is conditioned by a combination of multiple factors. The factors impacting the formation of AAA discovered so far include genetic factors, sex, age, lifestyle (abuse of alcohol, tobacco misuse, obesity, stress), health conditions (hypertension, high cholesterol level, atherosclerosis), and infectious factors: bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms

Moduli spaces of framed perverse instantons on P^3

We study moduli spaces of framed perverse instantons on P^3. As an open subset it contains the (set-theoretical) moduli space of framed instantons studied by I. Frenkel and M. Jardim. We also construct a few counterexamples to earlier conjectures and results concerning these moduli spaces.Comment: 50 page
