    Get PDF
Female entrepreneurship is a sustainable entrepreneurial activity by women, individually or in a group. This relatively new phenomenon has been gaining attention in developing countries like Bangladesh. The female graduates of the country represent an important yet untapped segment of entrepreneurship. The paper critically reviews the existing literature and evaluates the current situation of this segment and finds that issues from social, cultural, legal, political, workplace and educational system contexts limit their capacity to participate in the labor-force besides their male counterparts. The issues, if not treated prudently, might adversely affect the socio-economic goals of Bangladesh. Entrepreneurship may stand as a sustainable employment solution for the female graduates, which would enable them to contribute to the Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector of the country. The article proposes practical recommendations to reinforce the initiatives by the stakeholders and suggests to make necessary policy changes in order to facilitate graduate female entrepreneurship in the SME sector, enhance sustainability of the sector and convert it into a catalyst for economic growth of Bangladesh

The COVID-19 pandemic remains a global disaster with extraordinary consequences for corporations and their people. The stresses of working from home during a pandemic are heightened for newbies entering new occupations and organizations. To address the issues concerning the rapid adoption of virtual onboarding in employment relations and human resource management practices, the paper seeks to determine whether there is a positive relationship between online orientation and training and holistic support with virtual onboarding in the context of multinational companies operating in Bangladesh. A cross-sectional survey of 110 individuals of diverse profiles from various multinational companies (MNCs) in Bangladesh is undertaken using Google Forms. The data was analyzed using SPSS 26.0. It was discovered that online orientation, online training, and holistic support play an important part in carrying out a successful virtual onboarding process for newcomers working from home. It was also found that having a strong relationship with peers, and senior coworkers is a key aspect of obtaining the assistance that new employees require in the workplace as they start. It is expected that the managers in the MNCs may regain workers' trust by strengthening their virtual or onboarding operations as a whole. The frameworks offered can guide managers in better responding to employees' needs. The successful use of virtual onboarding among the MNCs in Bangladesh is a little-explored research domain. The study findings address the gap by highlighting its effectiveness and encouraging the implication of virtual onboarding of the employees working from home in the MNCs. The study does not rule out the potential of other factors influencing virtual onboarding effectiveness, nor focus on any particular professional groups. The online survey makes it difficult to provide information on the sample's representativeness. Further research and inquiry are required to confirm the findings

When something unpredictable creates turbulence, the result can be disastrous not only for Malaysian SMEs but also for the country’s economic outline as well. So, how can SMEs survive the current crisis period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic? Actually, there are no straight answers. At this point, the study aims to serve a wider understanding of how an adjustable configuration of different strategic initiatives can help Malaysian SMEs endure through the crisis based on the QHIM mechanism. The study has embraced a qualitative approach on the basis of online focus group discussion with the support of an expert facilitator. The data collection process includes 10 participants from various fields, such as academia; banking, NGOs and SMEs. The study also collected secondary information through different newspapers, magazines, websites, E-libraries, documentaries, and related journal sources. Because SMEs are operating in uncertain conditions, the findings from the discussions suggest that an adjustable integration of various ranges of initiatives, such as access and management of financial resources, exploration-exploitation of opportunities, efficient negotiation, digital adoption, and leadership commitment can help SMEs to endure throughout this crisis. The findings also contend the intervention of innovation and calculated risk-taking within the configuration. The proposed conceptual model serves as an important mechanism for policy-makers and owner-manager of SMEs to understand how adjustments in identified initiatives can play a vital role regarding survival in this crisis. It provides recommendations for SMEs and on how to remain competitive through resilience and renewal strategies. The study contributes to the existing literature in crisis management and identifies the survival and resilience strategies of SMEs in developing regions during a long-lasting crisis. Online customer is a person or association that purchases goods from a retail store via internet. This online purchasing is facilitated by companies that deliver shipping parcels, known as package delivery companies. The service quality is measured by the difference between customers’ expectations towards a service and their actual experience from that service. The objective of the study is to explore the correlation of online customer satisfaction with service quality in the package delivery industry using quality management framework SERVQUAL. Quantitative data on customer satisfaction levels divulged from questionnaires were scrutinized against service quality factors, which was later replaced in the service quality model using a five-point Likert scale and conducting simple regression. The result of the study found positive impact of reliability, assurance and empathy dimensions of service quality model on online customers’ satisfaction level pertaining to package delivery companies, with overall dominance of reliability dimension. The study adds value to the untapped sector of package delivery service, a critical backbone of e-commerce. The findings can be applicable for any e-commerce entrepreneurs in order to enhance optimum customer management efficiency by focusing on imperative dimensions of service quality model and perking up customer satisfaction

Background: Diabetes prevalence has risen more rapidly in middle- and low-income countries and has emerged as the seventh highest cause of death in such countries. Socio-demographics, patient knowledge and clinical factors, such as family history of diabetes, have a vital effect on the disease outcomes. This study assessed self-care practices among patients with type 2 diabetes to determine the probability of self-care by predictor variables, including socio-economic and clinical factors, and quantify the marginal effects of these independent variables on different self-care practices among diabetic patients. Methods: This exploratory study collected data from 200 type 2 diabetes patients at a branch of private pharmacy in Pakistan using a convenient sampling technique and a semi-structured questionnaire. An ordered probit regression model was used to analyze the different self-care practices among diabetic patients. With self-practices ordered in four classes from poor to good, the marginal effects of each socio-economic and clinical factors were also calculated on the likelihood of aforesaid self-care practices among diabetic patients. Results: Results showed that the relationships of household income, patient’s choice of private or public hospital for treatment, and patient’s weight with self-care probability were statistically significant. These socio-demographics and clinical indicators significantly influenced each category of self-care practices. Conclusion: Socio-demographic and clinical factors played a decisive role in the healthcare practices among type-2 diabetes patients. Monthly household income, patient’s choice of private or public hospital for treatment, and patient’s weight influenced different levels of self-care practices. Income had a negative contribution in poor and fair self-care levels of practices, whereas it had a positive role in average and good self-care levels of practices.
