Transverse-momentum dependent modification of dynamic texture in central Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=200GeV
Correlations in the hadron distributions produced in relativistic Au+Au collisions are studied in the discrete wavelet expansion method. The analysis is performed in the space of pseudorapidity (| eta | <= 1) and azimuth(full 2 pi ) in bins of transverse momentum (pt) from 0.14 <= pt <= 2.1GeV/c. In peripheral Au+Au collisions a correlation structure ascribed to minijet fragmentation is observed. It evolves with collision centrality and pt in a way not seen before, which suggests strong dissipation of minijet fragmentation in the longitudinally expanding medium.Alle Autoren: J. Adams, M. M. CCM.G-K2 key comparison
open55sìIn November 2013 an International Key Comparison, CCM.G-K2, was organized in the Underground Laboratory for Geodynamics in Walferdange. The comparison has assembled 25 participants coming from 19 countries and four different continents. The comparison was divided into two parts: the key comparison that included 10 NMIs or DIs, and the pilot study including all participants. The global result given by the pilot study confirms that all instruments are absolutely coherent to each other. The results obtained for the key comparison confirm a good agreement between the NMI instrumentsopenO. Francis; H. Baumann; C. Ullrich; S. Castelein; M. Van Camp; M. Andrade de Sousa; R. Evaluation of a candidate breast cancer associated SNP in ERCC4 as a risk modifier in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers. Results from the Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/BRCA2 (CIMBA)
Background: In this study we aimed to evaluate the role of a SNP in intron 1 of the ERCC4 gene (rs744154), previously reported to be associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer in the general population, as a breast cancer risk modifier in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers. Methods: We have genotyped rs744154 in 9408 BRCA1 and 5632 BRCA2 mutation carriers from the Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/2 (CIMBA) and assessed its association with breast cancer risk using a retrospective weighted cohort approach. Results: We found no evidence of association with breast cancer risk for BRCA1 (per-allele HR: 0.98, 95% CI: 0.93–1.04, P=0.5) or BRCA2 (per-allele HR: 0.97, 95% CI: 0.89–1.06, P=0.5) mutation carriers. Conclusion: This SNP is not a significant modifier of breast cancer risk for mutation carriers, though weak associations cannot be ruled out. Quantum dynamics of the Li+HF-->H+LiF reaction at ultralow temperatures
Quantum mechanical calculations are reported for the
Li+HF(v=0,1,j=0)-->H+LiF(v',j') bimolecular scattering process at low and
ultralow temperatures. Calculations have been performed for zero total angular
momentum using a recent high accuracy potential energy surface for the X 2A'
electronic ground state. For Li+HF(v=0,j=0), the reaction is dominated by
resonances due to the decay of metastable states of the Li...F-H van der Waals
complex. Assignment of these resonances has been carried out by calculating the
eigenenergies of the quasibound states. We also find that while chemical
reactivity is greatly enhanced by vibrational excitation the resonances get
mostly washed out in the reaction of vibrationally excited HF with Li atoms. In
addition, we find that at low energies, the reaction is significantly
suppressed due to the formation of rather deeply bound van der Waals complexes
and the less efficient tunneling of the relatively heavy fluorine atom.Comment: 24 pages, 8 figures, 1 table, submitted to J. Chem. Phy
