Billaud-Varenne og demokratiet - et studie i jacobinismens teori og praksis

Niels Høffding skildrer en af den franske revolu¬tions væsentlige skikkelser, der trods sin plads i jacobinernes inderkreds er stort set ukendt i dag. I denne epoke, der karakteriseres som et laboratorium for udviklingen af det moderne demokrati og den republikanske idé, redegør Høffding for Billaud-Varennes teoretiske skrifter og hans rolle i begivenhederne. Revolutionens laboratorium var det første forum for forsøget på at forsone den paradoksale kobling af menneskerettigheder og folkesuverænitet i bestræbelserne på at skabe en legitim styreform. Som hos revolutionens åndelige fader Rousseau finder vi hos Billaud-Varenne et tvetydigt samspil mellem demokratiske og autoritære tendenser i en teori, der blev til i en stadig dialektik med praksis, og hvis forfatter skulle få en skæbne meget anderledes end den, der mødte hans politiske fæller, Saint-Just, Danton og Robespierre

Ultrastructural visualization of the Mesenchymal-to-Epithelial Transition during reprogramming of human fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem cells

The Mesenchymal-to-Epithelial Transition (MET) has been recognized as a crucial step for successful reprogramming of fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Thus, it has been demonstrated, that the efficiency of reprogramming can be enhanced by promoting an epithelial expression program in cells, with a concomitant repression of key mesenchymal genes. However, a detailed characterization of the epithelial transition associated with the acquisition of a pluripotent phenotype is still lacking to this date. Here, we integrate a panel of morphological approaches with gene expression analyses to visualize the dynamics of episomal reprogramming of human fibroblasts to iPSCs. We provide the first ultrastructural analysis of human fibroblasts at various stages of episomal iPSC reprogramming, as well as the first real-time live cell visualization of a MET occurring during reprogramming. The results indicate that the MET manifests itself approximately 6–12 days after electroporation, in synchrony with the upregulation of early pluripotency markers, and resembles a reversal of the Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) which takes place during mammalian gastrulation

Passivity in Aesthetic Experience:Husserlian and Enactive Perspectives

This paper argues that the Husserlian notion of “passive synthesis” can make a substantial contribution to the understanding of aesthetic experience. The argument is based on two empirical cases of qualitative interview material obtained from museum visitors and a world-renowned string quartet, which show that aesthetic experience contains an irreducible dimension of passive undergoing and surprise. Analyzing this material through the lens of passive syntheses helps explain these experiences, as well as the sense of subject–object fusion that occurs in some of the most intense forms of aesthetic experience. These analyses are then contrasted with a potentially contradicting take on aesthetic experience from a recent trend in cognitive science, namely enactive aesthetics, which insists on the active subjective construction and sense-making of aesthetic experience. Finally we show that the two positions are in fact compatible

EN NY KONTEKSTUALITET; HVEM ‘EJER’ SYMPTOMERNE – INDIVIDET ELLER FÆLLESSKABET?

I denne artikel, vil jeg argumentere for, at den nuværende konceptualisering af symptomer på traumatisk stress – og til en vis grad også PTSD-diagnosen – ikke er hensigtsmæssig. Nyere bestræbelser på kultursensitivitet, kulturel personligheds- og stressopfattelse m.fl., lider ofte skibbrud, fordi der, som udgangspunkt og/eller slutresultat, stadig ledes efter symptomer og diagnoser indenfor en vestlig individualiseret medicinsk diskurs. Der argumenteres i disse tilgange for kontekstinddragelse, men hvad menes med dette begreb, og hvorfor er det ikke tilstrækkeligt? Jeg vil vise, hvordan isolation, invasion og undgåelse – tre hovedsymptomer på en traumetilstand – ikke er at placere hos individet, men hos individet og dets omgivelser/relationer. The Kantian Framework of Complementarity

A growing number of commentators have, in recent years, noted the important affinities in the views of Immanuel Kant and Niels Bohr. While these commentators are correct, the picture they present of the connections between Bohr and Kant is painted in broad strokes; it is open to the criticism that these affinities are merely superficial. In this essay, I provide a closer, structural, analysis of both Bohr's and Kant's views that makes these connections more explicit. In particular, I demonstrate the similarities between Bohr's argument, on the one hand, that neither the wave nor the particle description of atomic phenomena pick out an object in the ordinary sense of the word, and Kant's requirement, on the other hand, that both 'mathematical' (having to do with magnitude) and 'dynamical' (having to do with an object's interaction with other objects) principles must be applicable to appearances in order for us to determine them as objects of experience. I argue that Bohr's 'Complementarity interpretation' of quantum mechanics, which views atomic objects as idealizations, and which licenses the repeal of the principle of causality for the domain of atomic physics, is perfectly compatible with, and indeed follows naturally from a broadly Kantian epistemological framework.Comment: Slight change between this version and previous in the wording of the first paragraph of the section 'Complementarity

COMMUNITYUDVIKLING OG –REHABILITERING CUR-METODEN I PSYKOTRAUMATOLOGISK INTERVENTION

I artiklen præsenteres et igangværende udviklingsprojekt med mindre butikker på Nørrebro, der sætter ind over for traumatiske oplevelser. I et forsøg på at etablere community-psykologi som en pragmatisk konstruktionistisk metodologi diskuteres en række grundbegreber, der er relevante for psykosocial intervention. Med udgangspunkt i projektet, argumenteres for en psykotraumatologi, der er baseret på begreber om subjektivitet, bevidning og community-psykologi. Vi har udviklet en traumeforståelse, hvor voldsomme hændelser forstås som særligt organiserede semiotiske sammenhænge, hvis konsekvens er, at personer frarøves muligheden for gensvar – altså for-/handling. Og, måske væsentligst, at interventionens genstand og rationale skal bestemmes som dialog i personens aktuelle fællesskab. Artiklens fremstilling af subjektivitet skaber begreber for professionel intervention. Ved at efterstræbe en metodologi i forhold til posttraumatiske belastningsreaktioner bevæger vi os fra begreber om genstanden til begreber om mål og midler i praksis. Subjektivitet analyseres som unikke udførelser af de grænseflader, hvor forskelligrettede diskurser mødes, og konstituerer en metodologi, der undersøger subjektivitet som »liminal« aktivitet
