CVD of ZrO2 using ZrI4 as metal precursor

    No full text
A new process for CVD of zirconium oxide is presented. With zirconium tetraiodide, ZrI4, and oxygen as starting materials, crystalline ZrO2 is deposited on Si(100) at lower temperatures than with the conventional halide processes. The films are smooth and well-adherent and show no trace of iodine. This work describes the basic features of the new process as well as the microstructural and electrical characteristics of the ZrO2 films

    Adjectives and adjectivals in Magar

This paper analyses the forms and distribution of terms which describe property concepts in Magar, a Himalayish language of Nepal. In many languages, such terms comprise a dedicated category referred to as adjectives, however in some languages, for example Magar, words that describe property concepts are derived from other categories. In this paper, these derived terms are referred to as adjectivals. In Magar, all native terms describing property concepts are derived from verbs (i.e. nominalizations which function adnominally and as copular complements), or are verbs (in intransitive verb constructions). Underived ‘true’ adjectives do exist in Magar, but these are entirely borrowings from the lingua franca, Nepali. The morphosyntactic behaviour of these two lexical classes, native adjectivals and borrowed adjectives, differs from each other and across the Magar dialects. The paper describes two dialects: Syangja and Tanahu. It is apparent that there is considerable and significant divergence with respect to the morphosyntax of both native adjectivals and borrowed adjectives. Moreover, data, especially from the more conservative dialect, Syangja, suggests that historically Magar may not have had an independent natural class of adjective. Rather property concepts were expressed by nouns or by verbs depending upon their time-stability – more constant properties are expressed with nominal(ization)s and non time-stable properties with verbs

Child soldiers from a legalperspective. A literature based case study of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone and Uganda.

This thesis seeks to analyze the international humanitarian laws and human right laws governing the involvement of children in armed conflicts. As the international law prohibiting the involvement of children in armed conflict progress on paper, progress within the states falls behind, thus creating a gap between progress in law and the enforcement of this law on the ground. The international community needs to take steps to bridge this gap so the practice on the ground is adequate with the international law. This thesis will examine the efficiency of the international legal instruments and examine what factors are preventing the implementation of the international law within the different states. Three different case-studies will be conducted of three African countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda and Sierra Leone in order to examine what the states, the society, local actors and the international community are doing to prevent the involvement of children in armed conflict

Background: Incoming medical alarm is a common routine for emergency nurses. Working in these situations may represent a major burden on the individual nurse. Purpose: To investigate emergency room nurses' experiences in receiving medical alerts focused on education, safety, security, skills and experience, and andherence to guidelines. The purpose was also to investigate whether there were any differences in action between the emergency room nurses who had worked longer or shorter period than two years with this. Method: The design was quantitative, comparative and descriptive. Surveys were distributed to 30 nurses who worked in the emergency room at a Swedish hospital. The questionnaires were answered by 20 nurses these were divided into two groups based on their experience, the groups were compered whether there were any differences in action between the emergency room nurses who had worked longer or shorter period than two years in the emergency room. Results : Emergency Room Introduction, 70% had an experienced colleague. Securities in emergency situation were always experienced by 20% of the nurses while 65%of them often felt secure. Safeties were experienced by 60%. Few nurses reported that they experienced stress and time pressure. Half of the group always thought that their experience and skills were a applied in alarm situations. 50% did know the accepted guidelines. Decision aids was not used to any great extent. There was no difference between groups in the conduct of the emergency situation. Conclusion: Emergency Room introduction and decision support needs to be improved. The majority of the nurses felt safe and secure in emergency situation

Epitaxial growth of TiO2 (rutile) thin films by halide CVD

    No full text
Thin films of TiO2 have been deposited on α-Al2O3 (0 1 2) substrates from TiI4 and O2 using low pressure chemical vapour deposition. The TiO2 films were iodine-free and both the anatase and the rutile phase TiO2 could be deposited. The rutile phase was found to grow with a strong [1 0 1] orientation at deposition temperatures down to 490 °C. The rocking curve FWHM value for the (1 0 1) reflection was as low as 0.43°. The in-plane orientational relationship between the rutile film and the substrate was determined by φ-scan measurements to be [0 1 0]rutile//[1 0 0]α-Al2O3 and [1 0 1-]rutile//[1- 2- 1]α-Al2O3
