Light Quark Masses with an O(a)-Improved Action

    Get PDF
We present the recent Fermilab calculations of the masses of the light quarks, using tadpole-improved Sheikholeslami-Wohlert (SW) quarks. Various sources of systematic errors are studied. Our final result for the average light quark mass in the quenched approximation evaluated in the MSˉ\bar{MS} scheme is mˉq(μ=2GeV;nf=0)=(mu+md)/2=3.6±0.6MeV\bar{m}_q(\mu=2 GeV;n_f=0)= (m_u+m_d)/2=3.6 \pm 0.6 MeV.Comment: 3 pgs. 3 figures. espcrc2.sty included. Evaluation of copper and haematological markers in atherosclerosis coronary heart disease

    Get PDF
BackgroundCoronary heart disease [CHD] remains the major cause of morbidity and mortality in all developed as well as in developing countries. Leading cause of CHD is atherosclerosis, an inflammatory disease. Inflammation is closely related to thrombosis which begins with Platelets aggregation. Experimental Studies on animal model had been highlighted that copper may be associated with platelet aggregation but the data in human studies are lacking.AimsThis study was undertaken to evaluate role of haematological markers namely platelet count, clotting time, bleeding time and association of copper in pathogenesis of CHD.Methods The study was conducted was conducted in a single centre with retrospective atherosclerotic CHD cases and 100 as healthy controls. All 200 subjects were undergone through ECG and invasive coronary angiography. Haematological markers such as platelet counts, clotting time, bleeding time & Copper were measured in both groups by standard biochemical methods. Results Patients with the atherosclerotic CHD had decreased level of Platelet counts & Copper compared to healthy controls whereas there were no significant difference had been observed in CT & BT. Significant Positive correlation observed among the platelet count and copper levels in CHD cases. Post hoc analysis of platelet count and copper level in CHD cases and control subjects shows, significant positive correlation between the copper and platelet count levels in CHD cases, although on contrary there was non-significant negative correlation observed in copper and platelet counts levels among the control subjects.ConclusionCompared to control, low platelet count and copper levels in cases predict that platelets and copper may plays a crucial role in the development of atherosclerosis CHD and has correlation with each

Proof and trial activity in a dynamic test range is a complex, sensitive, and herculean activity. It is a system comprising critical functions that accept various armament inputs and produces proof results as output, processing various critical data and sensitive activities in between. Automation of the existing system is a step for reliable, secure, smooth operation and easy maintainability of the system that makes it synchronized with the latest development of range technology. Understanding the flow of data through these functions requires extensive study to realize different inter-linked activities involved with the functions of this system. This paper presents the flow of activities in the automation of dynamic test range of Proof & Experimental Establishment through context level diagram, process flow diagram, data flow diagram, and entity-relationship diagram. Realization of armament integrated management system will be through resilient and high bandwidth network backbone which is a part of this paper. Cloud computing is the latest development in the information technology. This paper also analyses the appropriate model of cloud computing for porting the system in the cloud.Science Journal, Vol. 64, No. 6, November 2014, pp.524-529, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.64.811

Fabrication of Low-Roughness Au/Ti/ SiO2/Si Substrates for Nanopatterning of 16-Mercapto Hexadecanoic Acid (MHA) by Dip-Pen-Nanolithography

Silicon based low-roughness Au/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates were fabricated using standard IC fabrication processes. Evolution of surface roughness during substrate fabrication process was studied. Fabrication process steps, namely, thermal oxidation and e-beam evaporation for ultra-thin Ti(~ 5 nm)/Au(22 nm) films, were optimized to result in surface r.m.s roughness ~ 0.2 m and ~ 1.0 nm, after thermal oxidation and Ti/Au deposition steps respectively. Surface roughness was estimated by atomic force microscope (AFM) imaging and image analysis. Nano-patterning experiments using thiol based 16-MHA molecular-ink on fabricated substrates were carried out, under controlled environment conditions, by dip-pen-nanolithography (DPN) technique. Minimum line-width ~ 60 nm and circular dots radius ~ 175 nm were patterned. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/2779

Optimal Color Range Reporting in One Dimension

Color (or categorical) range reporting is a variant of the orthogonal range reporting problem in which every point in the input is assigned a \emph{color}. While the answer to an orthogonal point reporting query contains all points in the query range QQ, the answer to a color reporting query contains only distinct colors of points in QQ. In this paper we describe an O(N)-space data structure that answers one-dimensional color reporting queries in optimal O(k+1)O(k+1) time, where kk is the number of colors in the answer and NN is the number of points in the data structure. Our result can be also dynamized and extended to the external memory model

Towards flavour diffusion coefficient and electrical conductivity without ultraviolet contamination

By subtracting from a recent lattice measurement of the thermal vector-current correlator the known 5-loop vacuum contribution, we demonstrate that the remainder is small and shows no visible short-distance divergence. It can therefore in principle be subjected to model-independent analytic continuation. Testing a particular implementation, we obtain estimates for the flavour-diffusion coefficient (2 pi T D \gsim 0.8) and electrical conductivity which are significantly smaller than previous results. Although systematic errors remain beyond control at present, some aspects of our approach could be of a wider applicability.Comment: 7 pages. v2: clarifications added, published versio

Understanding the Nexus between Alcohol Consumption, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, and higher Education Outcomes among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Males in Australia

    Get PDF
Education is a critical social determinant of health, particularly in the context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and well-being. There is also a broad array of other health risk factors that intersect with these social and cultural determinants of health. Overall, an in-depth examination of the complex health–education nexus is needed. This paper provides a commentary on interrelationships between health risk factors, their impact on education trajectories, and their implications for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males

Rapidity distribution as a probe for elliptical flow at intermediate energies

Interplay between the spectator and participant matter in heavy-ion collisions is investigated within isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model in term of rapidity distribution of light charged particles. The effect of different types and size rapidity distributions is studied in elliptical flow. The elliptical flow patterns show important role of the nearby spectator matter on the participant zone. This role is further explained on the basis of passing time of the spectator and expansion time of the participant zone. The transition from the in-plane to out-of-plane is observed only when the mid-rapidity region is included in the rapidity bin, otherwise no transition occurs. The transition energy is found to be highly sensitive towards the size of the rapidity bin, while weakly on the type of the rapidity distribution. The theoretical results are also compared with the experimental findings and are found in good agreement.Comment: 8 figure
