    The transmissibility of vibration isolators with a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping characteristic

    In the present study, the concept of the Output Frequency Response Function (OFRF), recently proposed by the authors, is applied to theoretically investigate the transmissibility of SDOF passive vibration isolators with a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping curve. The results reveal that a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping characteristic has almost no effect on the transmissibility of SDOF vibration isolators over both low and high frequency ranges where the frequencies are much lower or higher than the isolator’s resonant frequency. On the other hand, the introduction of a nonlinear anti-symmetric damping can significantly reduce the transmissibility of the vibration isolator over the resonant frequency region. The results indicate that nonlinear vibration isolators with an anti-symmetric damping characteristic have great potential to overcome the dilemma encountered in the design of passive linear vibration isolators, that is, increasing the level of damping to reduce the transmissibility at the resonance could increase the transmissibility over the range of higher frequencies. These important theoretical conclusions are then verified by simulation studies

    Parameterization and Reconstruction of Quasi Static Universe

    We study a possibility of the fate of universe, in which there is neither the rip singularity, which results in the disintegration of bound systems, nor the endless expansion, instead the universe will be quasi static. We discuss the parameterization of the corresponding evolution and the reconstruction of the scalar field model. We find, with the parameterization consistent with the current observation, that the current universe might arrive at a quasi static phase after less than 20Gyr.Comment: minor changes and Refs. added, publish in EPJ

    Correlation between chemical composition, EHGE and TME of corn for ducks

    Correlations between chemical composition, enzymatic hydrolysate gross energy (EHGE), and true metabolizable energy (TME) of corn for ducks were investigated. Twenty-two corn samples were collected from various regions in 11 provinces of China. The crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), Ash, gross energy (GE), dry matter (DM), amylopectin (AP), amylose (AM), total starch (TS), and AP/AM were determined for each sample. Five of the samples of corn were chosen at the mean, mean ± 1 standard deviation (SD), and mean ± 2 SD based on AP/AM. The EHGE of these samples was analysed using the pepsin-artificial small intestinal fluid enzymatic method. These five samples were also force-fed to male Cherry Valley ducks to assay their TME. Finally, correlation analyses were performed, and regression equations were established. Ash content, GE, and TS were highly related to EHGE. Univariate prediction equations were EHGE = 11.8566Ash-0.0421 (P <0.05), EHGE = 0.1535GE1.5642 (P <0.05), and EHGE = 0.1020TS1.1561 (P <0.05). The total starch, AP/AM, and ash of the chemical compositions were highly related to TME. The corresponding univariate regression equations were TME = 21.9355TS-0.0910 (P <0.05), TME = 15.6590AP/AM-0.0559 (P <0.05), and TME = 15.0778Ash0.0442 (P <0.05). The mean EHGE was equivalent to 78.5% of TME, but their correlation coefficient was low.     Interacting Agegraphic Dark Energy

    A new dark energy model, named "agegraphic dark energy", has been proposed recently, based on the so-called K\'{a}rolyh\'{a}zy uncertainty relation, which arises from quantum mechanics together with general relativity. In this note, we extend the original agegraphic dark energy model by including the interaction between agegraphic dark energy and pressureless (dark) matter. In the interacting agegraphic dark energy model, there are many interesting features different from the original agegraphic dark energy model and holographic dark energy model.     Effects of bearing clearance on the chatter stability of milling process

    In the present study, the influences of the bearing clearance, which is a common fault for machines, to the chatter stability of milling process are examined by using numerical simulation method. The results reveal that the presence of bearing clearance could make the milling process easier to enter the status of chatter instability and can shift the chatter frequency. In addition, the spectra analysis to vibration signals obtained under the instable milling processes show that the presence of bearing clearance could introduce more frequency components to the vibration responses but, however, under both the stable and instable milling processes, the generated frequency components will not violate the ideal spectra structures of the vibration responses of the milling process, which are usually characterized by the tooth passing frequency and its associated higher harmonics for the stable milling process and by the complex coupling of the tooth passing frequency and the chatter frequency for the instable milling process. This implies that, even under the case with bearing clearance fault, the stability of the milling process can still be determined by viewing the frequency spectra of the vibration responses. Moreover, the phenomena of the chatter frequency shift and the generation of more components provide potential ways to detect the bearing clearance in machines. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd.     Parametrization of Born-Infeld Type Phantom Dark Energy Model

    Applying the parametrization of dark energy density, we can construct directly independent-model potentials. In Born-Infeld type phantom dark energy model, we consider four special parametrization equation of state parameter. The evolutive behavior of dark energy density with respect to red-shift zz, potentials with respect to ϕ\phi and zz are shown mathematically. Moreover, we investigate the effect of parameter η\eta upon the evolution of the constructed potential with respect to zz.     Inflationary Attractor in Braneworld Scenario

    We demonstrate the attractor behavior of inflation driven by a scalar field or a tachyon field in the context of recently proposed four-dimensional effective gravity induced on the world-volume of a three-brane in five-dimensional Einstein gravity, and we obtain a set of exact inflationary solutions. Phase portraits indicate that an initial kinetic term decays rapidly and it does not prevent the onset of inflation.     Interacting Three Fluid System and Thermodynamics of the Universe Bounded by the Event Horizon

    The work deals with the thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon. The matter in the universe has three constituents namely dark energy, dark matter and radiation in nature and interaction between then is assumed. The variation of entropy of the surface of the horizon is obtained from unified first law while matter entropy variation is calculated from the Gibbss' law.
