    Gender differences in adventure tourists who practice kayaking in Extremadura

    Adventure tourism is among the sectors that has experienced the greatest growth in participation in recent years. In addition, it provides a unique opportunity to generate different benefits for rural populations as well as for the preservation of their environment. The objective of this study was to analyze gender differences in the profile, estimated expenditure, perception of economic impact and satisfaction of adventure tourists visiting the Valle del Jerte (Extremadura, Spain) for kayaking activities. The sample was composed of 511 tourists who kayaked in the Valle del Jerte. Gender differences were analyzed by the Mann-Whitney U test in continuous variables and Pearson’s chi-square test in categorical variables. The predominant profile of the kayaking tourist is Spanish, married, employed, with university education, lives with their partner with children at home, chooses a rural home for accommodation, travels with companions, uses their own car for transportation, spends 550 euros on average, has good perceptions of the economic impact of the activity on the destination and is satisfied with the kayak service received. This information is relevant for public and private organizations as well as for the local community to be able to offer services more oriented to the tourist who engages in these activities, as well as to attract more tourists

    Disentangling the excitation conditions of the dense gas in M17 SW

    We probe the chemical and energetic conditions in dense gas created by radiative feedback through observations of multiple CO, HCN and HCO+^+ transitions toward the dense core of M17 SW. We used the dual band receiver GREAT on board the SOFIA airborne telescope to obtain maps of the J=1615J=16-15, J=1211J=12-11, and J=1110J=11-10 transitions of 12^{12}CO. We compare these maps with corresponding APEX and IRAM 30m telescope data for low- and mid-JJ CO, HCN and HCO+^+ emission lines, including maps of the HCN J=87J=8-7 and HCO+^+ J=98J=9-8 transitions. The excitation conditions of 12^{12}CO, HCO+^+ and HCN are estimated with a two-phase non-LTE radiative transfer model of the line spectral energy distributions (LSEDs) at four selected positions. The energy balance at these positions is also studied. We obtained extensive LSEDs for the CO, HCN and HCO+^+ molecules toward M17 SW. The LSED shape, particularly the high-JJ tail of the CO lines observed with SOFIA/GREAT, is distinctive for the underlying excitation conditions. The critical magnetic field criterion implies that the cold cloudlets at two positions are partially controlled by processes that create and dissipate internal motions. Supersonic but sub-Alfv\'enic velocities in the cold component at most selected positions indicates that internal motions are likely MHD waves. Magnetic pressure dominates thermal pressure in both gas components at all selected positions, assuming random orientation of the magnetic field. The magnetic pressure of a constant magnetic field throughout all the gas phases can support the total internal pressure of the cold components, but it cannot support the internal pressure of the warm components. If the magnetic field scales as Bn2/3B \propto n^{2/3}, then the evolution of the cold cloudlets at two selected positions, and the warm cloudlets at all selected positions, will be determined by ambipolar diffusion.Comment: 26 pages, 13 figures, A&A accepte

    During adolescence, the greatest risks of misuse of new technologies occur, and with it, the proliferation of cyberbullying. The objective of this work is to carry out a descriptive analysis of cybervictimization according to gender and grade in a sample of Compulsory Secondary Education students from a private school in the city of Cáceres. The methodology used in the research is basic, non-experimental, descriptive-correlational. A total of 141 students from courses throughout the ESO stage participated. The results show a high digitization of households (99.3%). It also appears that verbal-written cybervictimization is the most common in adolescents to carry out cyberbullying. © 2022 AUFOP.     Comparison of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and porcine circovirus 2 commercial vaccines efficacy when applied separate or combined under experimental conditions

    Background Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mhyo) and Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) are two of the most significant infectious agents causing economic losses in the weaning to slaughter period. Due to their similar vaccination age, the objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of two already existing Mhyo (Hyogen®) and PCV-2 (Circovac®) vaccines when administered separately or combined (RTM) by means of Mhyo or PCV-2 experimental challenges. Results Seven groups of animals were included in the study, being three of them challenged with PCV-2, three with Mhyo and one composed of non-challenged, non-vaccinated pigs. Within each experimental challenge, non-vaccinated (NV) groups were compared with double vaccinated groups using the commercial products separated (VS) or combined (VC). Both vaccinated groups showed significant differences for most parameters measured regarding PCV-2 (serology, percentage of infected animals and viral load in tissues) and Mhyo (serology and gross lesions) when compared to NV groups. VS and VC offered similar results, being only significantly different the PCV-2 antibody values at different time points (higher in the VS group) of the study, although not at the termination day (21 days post-PCV-2 inoculation). Conclusion The present study expands the knowledge on the possibility of using two separate Mhyo and PCV-2 commercial vaccines as a RTM product, which offered equivalent virological, immunological and pathological outcomes as compared to these vaccines when used by separate.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    VALORACIÓN PROFESIONAL DEL ANÁLISIS CRÍTICO SOBRE LA COMPETENCIA EDITORIAL DE LA POLÍTICA CIENTÍFICA DIVULGATIVA

    La responsabilidad sobre la lectura, comprensión y comunicación científica resulta un proceso complejo donde se requiere capacitación previa y consolidada antes del posible desempeño como editor científico. El propósito del estudio fue valorar de forma profesional el análisis crítico sobre la competencia editorial de la política científica divulgativa. Se seleccionó de forma aleatoria, diezinvestigadores y se les aplicó, una evaluación que consistió en siete preguntas con base en capacitaciones previas a su desempeño: 1ro) metodología de la investigación con enfoque cualimétrico, 2do) comprensión de la comunicación científica, 3ro) gestión y vigilancia informativa, 4to) operación de programas digitales para la gestión editorial, 5to) maquetación editorial, 6to) proceso de arbitraje y 7mo) estrategias para la competencia responsable en la aceptación y edición científica. A cada pregunta fue asignada una puntuación siendo seleccionada la Revista Científica: The Biologist (Lima). Para aceptar cómo válida la competencia editorial sobre la política científica divulgativa se estableció una prueba de hipótesis con criterio de 90 puntos (media hipotética). Se aceptó la H1 (la formación para el desempeño editorial de la política científica divulgativa de los investigadores es competente), pues al comparar la tcal (-6,98) con la ttab (1,833), la misma fue menor siendo corroborada con el valor p (0,000) < ,005. Se concluyó que, fue aceptada la valoración profesional realizada por los investigadores ante el análisis crítico sobre la competencia editorial de la política científica divulgativa para la revista The Biologist (Lima)

    Baseline Inflammatory Status Reveals Dichotomic Immune Mechanisms Involved In Primary-Progressive Multiple Sclerosis Pathology

    To ascertain the role of inflammation in the response to ocrelizumab in primary-progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS).Multicenter prospective study including 69 patients with PPMS who initiated ocrelizumab treatment, classified according to baseline presence [Gd+, n=16] or absence [Gd-, n=53] of gadolinium-enhancing lesions in brain MRI. Ten Gd+ (62.5%) and 41 Gd- patients (77.4%) showed non-evidence of disease activity (NEDA) defined as no disability progression or new MRI lesions after 1 year of treatment. Blood immune cell subsets were characterized by flow cytometry, serum immunoglobulins by nephelometry, and serum neurofilament light-chains (sNfL) by SIMOA. Statistical analyses were corrected with the Bonferroni formula.More than 60% of patients reached NEDA after a year of treatment, regardless of their baseline characteristics. In Gd+ patients, it associated with a low repopulation rate of inflammatory B cells accompanied by a reduction of sNfL values 6 months after their first ocrelizumab dose. Patients in Gd- group also had low B cell numbers and sNfL values 6 months after initiating treatment, independent of their treatment response. In these patients, NEDA status was associated with a tolerogenic remodeling of the T and innate immune cell compartments, and with a clear increase of serum IgA levels.Baseline inflammation influences which immunological pathways predominate in patients with PPMS. Inflammatory B cells played a pivotal role in the Gd+ group and inflammatory T and innate immune cells in Gd- patients.
