Evaluación de los principales problemas ambientales existentes en el municipio Manzanillo

Environmental Performance Evaluation is a management tool that provides businesses, on an ongoing basis, reliable and comprehensive information on whether the environmental standards set by the management are being met or not. The aim of this study is to evaluate the major environmental problems in the municipality Manzanillo and determine possible solutions. A characterization of the main problems was conducted a DAFO matrix was developed and actions for their solution are proposed. By way of conclusion it was determined that: the municipality Manzanillo presents potentials and strengths to create new activities and products as part of the alternatives that can contribute to local development; defined actions to be performed and directed to the solution of environmental problems in the municipality must correspond to those identified as the most urgent and important for its impact on quality of life of the population and the identification of suitable alternatives allow sustainability and economic, sociocultural and environmental sustainability for the development of the municipality.La Evaluación del Comportamiento Medioambiental es una herramienta de gestión, que proporciona a las empresas, sobre una base continua, información fiable y exhaustiva sobre si los criterios medioambientales fijados por la dirección se están cumpliendo o no. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar los principales problemas ambientales existentes en el municipio Manzanillo y determinar sus posibles soluciones. Se realizó una caracterización de los principales problemas, se elaboró una matriz DAFO y se proponen acciones para su solución. A modo de conclusiones se determinó que: el municipio Manzanillo presenta potencialidades y fortalezas para la creación de nuevas actividades y productos como parte de las alternativas que pueden contribuir al desarrollo local; las acciones definidas a realizar y dirigidas a la solución de los problemas ambientales del municipio deben corresponderse con aquellas que se identificaron como las más apremiantes e importantes por su repercusión en la calidad de vida de la población y la identificación de alternativas adecuadas permiten la sostenibilidad y sustentabilidad económica, sociocultural y ambiental para el desarrollo del municipio

Introduction: currently, epidemiology has a new approach to the diagnosis and prognosis of periodontal disease, and have identified risk factors that affect the development and progress of this.Objective: to determine the association of oral hygiene and smoking in the periodontal health of the patients of the René Vallejo Ortiz teaching polyclinic in Manzanillo in 2016.Method: A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out in the Rene Vallejo Ortiz teaching polyclinic of Manzanillo in 2016. The universe was made up of 82 patients who were divided into two groups: one study and one control group. The association between oral hygiene and smoking with periodontal health was investigated using the X2 chi-square tests with a confidence level of 95 % and Odds ratio (OR).Results: it was obtained that the age group that predominated was 35 to 40 years old (35.4 %), the pre-university educational level (32.9 %). It was proved that there is an association between smoking and oral hygiene with periodontal disease; the OR calculation indicates that smoking is a risk factor, the probability of getting sick from this group is 5.87 times. The SPSS V 20 program was used.Conclusions: the age group that predominated was 35 to 40 years old and the level of schooling was pre-university. Smoking and oral hygiene are associated with periodontal health.Introducción: en la actualidad, la epidemiología tiene un nuevo enfoque con relación al diagnóstico y pronóstico de la enfermedad periodontal, y se han identificado los factores de riesgo que inciden en el desarrollo y progreso de esta.Objetivos: determinar la asociación de la higiene bucal y el tabaquismo en la salud periodontal de los pacientes del policlínico docente René Vallejo Ortiz de Manzanillo en el año 2016.Método: se realizó un estudio del tipo analítico transversal. El universo se conformó con 82 pacientes que se distribuyeron en dos grupos: uno de estudio y otro de control. Se investigó la asociación entre la higiene bucal y el tabaquismo con la salud periodontal empleando las pruebas de chi-cuadrado X2 con un nivel de confianza del 95 % y el odds ratio (OR). Resultados: se obtuvo que el grupo de edad que predominó fue de 35 a 40 años (35,4 %), el nivel educacional preuniversitario (32,9 %). Se comprobó que existe asociación entre el tabaquismo y la higiene bucal con la enfermedad periodontal; el cálculo OR indica que el tabaquismo constituye un factor de riesgo, la probabilidad de enfermarse de este grupo es de 5,87 veces. FOOD PRODUCT ACCEPTANCE AND PREFERENCE PREDECTION THROUGH AUTOMATED FACIAL EXPRESSION ANALYSIS (MEDICIÓN DE ACEPTACIÓN Y PREFERENCIA DE PRODUCTOS ALIMENTICIOS MEDIANTE ANÁLISIS AUTOMATIZADO DE EXPRESIONES FACIALES)

ResumenSe presenta un sistema para determinar la aceptación y las preferencias de usuarios en productos alimenticios a través del reconocimiento de emociones. Los cambios en expresiones faciales de 80 sujetos mientras probaban cinco distintos productos alimenticios fueron capturados con el sensor Microsoft Kinect. Las expresiones faciales se contrastaron con las evaluaciones sensoriales de los consumidores. Para el reconocimiento de expresiones faciales en cada cuadro del video, se entrenó una red neuronal y se utilizaron diferentes técnicas de aprendizaje supervisado (como máquinas de soporte vectorial, perceptrón multicapa y árboles de regresión) para determinar que sabores podrían ser aceptados y rechazados por el consumidor.  Se decidió utilizar la red neuronal, y al observar la matriz de confusión se obtiene un porcentaje de reconocimiento adecuado para las siguientes emociones: neutral 94%, sorpesa 98%, felicidad 99% y disgusto 94%. La aplicación industrial es relevante en el sector de Investigación y Desarrollo de la industria de alimentos.Palabras Claves: aceptación de consumidores, análisis sensorial, aprendizaje de máquina, expresiones faciales, Kinect, visualización.AbstractThis paper presents a system for determining consumer acceptance and preferences of food products through emotion recognition. Changes in facial expressions of 80 test subjects while tasting five different food samples were captured using the Microsoft Kinect sensor. The expressions were compared to the consumers’ sensory evaluations. To determine the facial expressions in every video frame, a neural network was trained and different supervised learning techniques (such as support vector machines, multilayer perceptron and regression trees) were used to predict which of the different tastes could be accepted or rejected. A neuronal net was used, when observing the confusion matrix a percentage of adequate recognition was obtained for the following emotions: neutral (94%), surprise (98%), happiness (99%) and disgust (94%). The industrial application of the proposed system is relevant for the Food Industry Research and Development (R&D) by allowing the sampling of a product by potential consumers and analyzing their emotions before launching into market.Keywords: consumer’s acceptance, sensory analysis, facial expressions, Kinect, machine learning, visualization

Potencialidades para la gestión sociocultural en el municipio Manzanillo

Introduction: the socio-cultural dimension is consubstantial to the processes of community development, understood as transformative social practice. Objective: to identify the main problems for sociocultural management in Manzanillo municipality. Method: a descriptive study was performed to identify the main problems for socio-cultural management in Manzanillo municipality. It was made an internal and external analysis using the DAFO methodology. Results: Manzanillo municipality has potentialities and strengths to create new activities and products as part of the alternatives that can contribute to the local development from the socio-cultural dimension. Conclusions: identification of suitable alternatives allows the socio-cultural management for the development of the municipality.Introducción: la dimensión sociocultural es consustancial a los procesos de desarrollo comunitario, entendido como práctica social transformadora.Objetivo: identificar los principales problemas para la gestión sociocultural en el municipio Manzanillo.Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo para identificar los principales problemas para la gestión sociocultural en el municipio Manzanillo. Se hizo un análisis interno y externo aplicando la metodología Análisis DAFO.Resultados: el municipio Manzanillo presenta potencialidades y fortalezas para la creación de nuevas actividades y productos como parte de las alternativas que pueden contribuir al desarrollo local desde la dimensión sociocultural.Conclusiones: la identificación de alternativas adecuadas permite la gestión sociocultural para el desarrollo del municipio

Calbindin D28k Expression and the Absence of Apoptosis in the Cerebellum of Solatium bonariense L-lntoxicated Bovines

Solanum bonariense intoxication is characterized by cerebellar neuronal vacuolation, degeneration, and necrosis. Cerebellar Purkinje cells seem especially susceptible, but more research is needed to determine the pathogenesis of neuronal necrosis and the mechanism of Purkinje cell susceptibility. Calbindin D28k (CbD28k) is highly expressed in Purkinje cells and has been used as a marker for normal and degenerative Purkinje cells. The goal of this study was to describe S bonariense-induced disease by ascertaining Purkinje cell-specific degenerative changes using CbD28k expression and to correlate this with apoptosis in Purkinje cells, as determined using TUNEL (transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end-labeling) and ultrastructural changes. In all cases, an increase in both dose and duration of S bonariense intoxication resulted in a decrease in the number of Purkinje cells. CbD28k immunohistochemistry was an excellent marker for Purkinje cells because immunoreactivity did not change in normal or degenerative tissues. This finding suggests that excessive calcium excitatory stimulation does not induce rapid neuronal degeneration and death. As found in previous studies, TUNEL tests and electron microscopy suggest that Purkinje cell degeneration and death are not occurring via an apoptotic process. These findings suggest that S bonariense poisoning induces progressive Purkinje cell death that is not mediated by excitotoxicity or apoptotic activation.Facultad de Ciencias Veterinaria
