Solutions to Cosmological Problems with Energy Conservation and Varying c, G and Lambda
The flatness and cosmological constant problems are solved with varying speed
of light c, gravitational coupling strength G and cosmological parameter
Lambda, by explicitly assuming energy conservation of observed matter. The
present solution to the flatness problem is the same as the previous solution
in which energy conservation was absent.Comment: 5 pages, Replaced with LaTex file with minor change
Utilisation of clam meat as feed in the shrimp farms of Kerala
Of late there has been an
upsurge in shrimp culture practices
in many parts of the country.
Kerala with an estimated brackish
water area of 65000 ha suitable for
shrimp culture has witnessed a
slow but steady change from the
traditional system of farming to
the more profitable scientific type
of farming with different fast growing
species like Penaeus indicus
and P. monodon
From effective actions to the background geometry
We discuss how the background geometry can be traced from the one-loop
effective actions in nonsupersymmetric theories in the external abelian fields.
It is shown that upon the proper identification of the Schwinger parameter the
Heisenberg-Euler abelian effective action involves the integration over the
, and geometries, depending on the type of the external
field. The interpretation of the effective action in the sefdual field in terms
of the topological strings is found and the corresponding matrix model
description is suggested. It is shown that the low energy abelian MHV one-loop
amplitudes are expressed in terms of the type B topological string amplitudes
in mirror to manifold. We also make some comments on the relation
between the imaginary part of the effective action and the branes in SU(2) as
well as on the geometry of the contours relevant for the path integral.Comment: Latex. 40 pages, typos corrected, references adde
Brane World Dynamics and Adiabatic Matter creation
We have treated the adiabatic matter creation process in various three-brane
models by applying thermodynamics of open systems. The matter creation rate is
found to affect the evolution of scale factor and energy density of the
universe. We find modification at early stages of cosmic dynamics. In GB and RS
brane worlds, by chosing appropriate parameters we obtain standard scenario,
while the warped DGP model has different Friedmann equations. During later
stages, since the matter creation is negligible the evolution reduces to FRW
expansion, in RS and GB models.Comment: Replaced with TEX file,No figures, Corrected References and typos.

Rotifer as live feed for larviculture of marine fishes - a research review
The most critical factor in the commercial farming offish and shellfish
is the dependable availability of healthy fry produced in hatcheries.
Most of the fishes having aquaculture potential have larvae with very limited
yolk reserves and the transition stage from endogenous to exogenous feeding
is very critical, often resulting in mass mortalities. The recent success in the
consistent supply of many marine and brackish water fish seeds can be attributed
to the mass production technologies of high quality live feeds
Calibrations of hydro-acoustic instruments onboard FORV Sagar Sampada
Calibration is carried out to keep up the precision of the instruments by
determining their calibre. CaUbration of hydro acoustic equipments onboard FORV
Sagar Sampada was carried out periodically and the performance records were
maintained. Deviation and the deficiencies were noted down for applying the correction
while interpreting the output of the instruments
Tuna live-bait fishes - their exploitation, conservation and management in Lakshadweep
The total annual catch of baitfishes form pole and line fishing areas of Lakshadweep
is estimated to be 1251. At Minicoy, the average annual catch is estimated at 9.11 and
at Agatti it is estimated to be 51 t. Data from other baitfish fishing areas such as
Suheli, Valiapani and Cheriyapani are virtually non-existent. Management options
suggested earlier include the collection of fishery data from more areas, studying the
biology and understanding the stock of exploited species, culture of suitable species
and maintaining the health of the coral reefs of the islands. Future thrust areas for
research to elucidate the factors that determine the baitfish fishery include a full
review of the existing fishery and development of a baitfish statistics collection

An AdS_3 Dual for Minimal Model CFTs
We propose a duality between the 2d W_N minimal models in the large N 't
Hooft limit, and a family of higher spin theories on AdS_3. The 2d CFTs can be
described as WZW coset models, and include, for N=2, the usual Virasoro unitary
series. The dual bulk theory contains, in addition to the massless higher spin
fields, two complex scalars (of equal mass). The mass is directly related to
the 't Hooft coupling constant of the dual CFT. We give convincing evidence
that the spectra of the two theories match precisely for all values of the 't
Hooft coupling. We also show that the RG flows in the 2d CFT agree exactly with
the usual AdS/CFT prediction of the gravity theory. Our proposal is in many
ways analogous to the Klebanov-Polyakov conjecture for an AdS_4 dual for the
singlet sector of large N vector models.Comment: 33 pages LaTe
Marine Ornamental Fishes
Ornamental fishes are fascinating for their brilliant
and attractive colouration/pattern, tiny size
and their ability to adapt in confined aquarium
tanks. These fishes are a fancy for the people
all over the world and aquarium fish keeping
has been developed as a hobby by many. The
world ornamental fish industry has been growing
rapidly over the years. The total turnover,
has been estimated over 5 billion US $, of which
India's contribution is less than 1%
Problems and prospects of marine fisheries at Lakshadweep
The live-bait fishes play a pivotal role in the development and success of the pole-and-line fishery in Lakshadweep. The total live-bait fish catch from this insular area is estimated to be 125 t in recent years. The major groups exploited at Minicoy are clupeids, caesionids and apogonids. The clupeid, Spratelloides delicatulus is the only species caught as bait in the northern islands. The major fishing areas for live-baits are Minicoy, Agatti, Suheli, Perumal Par, Bitra, Valiapani and Cheriyapani. Both meteorological and hydrographical factors influence the recruitment of migratory groups to the lagoon, while resident forms depend on the recruitment success. The Lakshadweep sea is estimated to have an annual fisher
