Two-Dimensional Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics: Two Fixed Centers of Force

    Get PDF
The problem of building supersymmetry in the quantum mechanics of two Coulombian centers of force is analyzed. It is shown that there are essentially two ways of proceeding. The spectral problems of the SUSY (scalar) Hamiltonians are quite similar and become tantamount to solving entangled families of Razavy and Whittaker-Hill equations in the first approach. When the two centers have the same strength, the Whittaker-Hill equations reduce to Mathieu equations. In the second approach, the spectral problems are much more difficult to solve but one can still find the zero-energy ground states.Comment: This is a contribution to the Proc. of the Seventh International Conference ''Symmetry in Nonlinear Mathematical Physics'' (June 24-30, 2007, Kyiv, Ukraine), published in SIGMA (Symmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications) at http://www.emis.de/journals/SIGMA

Staged Penetrating Sclerokeratoplasty and Penetrating Keratoplasty for Management of Advanced Acquired Anterior Staphyloma

Herein we describe a staged surgical technique consisting of penetrating sclerokeratoplasty (PSKP) followed by penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) and present its clinical course and complications over two years of follow-up. A 23-year-old man presented with cosmetically unacceptable protrusion of the globe corresponding to the cornea and sclera. PSKP was performed transplanting a full-thickness beveled 13 mm corneoscleral tectonic graft. Hypotony developed subsequently and was successfully managed medically, however corneal graft failure occurred. After 15 months, a 7.5 mm PKP was performed for optical reasons, which subsequently remained clear with a healthy epithelium. In this particular case, cosmetic, tectonic, therapeutic, and optical requirements were met. PSKP is a surgical procedure which entails a high rate of complications but may be the only alternative when the main goal of intervention is restoration of the globe in complicated cases such as our patient

Factorization of supersymmetric Hamiltonians in curvilinear coordinates

    Get PDF
Planar supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems with separable spectral problem in curvilinear coordinates are analyzed in full generality. We explicitly construct the supersymmetric extension of the Euler/Pauli Hamiltonian describing the motion of a light particle in the field of two heavy fixed Coulombian centers. We shall also show how the SUSY Kepler/Coulomb problem arises in two different limits of this problem: either, the two centers collapse in one center - a problem separable in polar coordinates -, or, one of the two centers flies to infinity - to meet the Coulomb problem separable in parabolic coordinates.Comment: 13 pages. Reactivity of C3S and model cement in presence of Na2S2O3 and NaSCN

The impact of NaSCN and Na2S2O3 on the reactivity, microstructure and morphology of C3S and model cement (with a clinker containing 85% C3S and 15% C3A) pastes was systematically investigated. Results concluded that both alkali salts mainly act enhancing the reactivity of the C3S phase while not significant influence on the reactivity of C3A was measured. While both admixtures rose the reactivity of C3S over the studied 7 days of hydration, they only increased the reactivity of model cement pastes up to 14–20 h. NaSCN and Na2S2O3 did not modify the C–S–H stoichiometry but they influenced its morphology. In particular, thicker convergent C–S–H needles were formed in pastes containing Na2S2O3 compared to non-admixed systems, while a higher number of thinner C–S–H needles were formed in presence of NaSCN. Furthermore, greater portlandite clusters and intermixing of AFm and C–S–H were observed in admixed C3S and model cement pastes, respectively, compared to plain systems.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUECSIC agreement with Springer Nature.
