Comparison of different methods for liquid level adjustment in tank prover calibration
The adjustment of the liquid level during the calibration of tank provers with fixed volume is normally done by overfill but it can be done in different ways. In this article four level adjustment techniques are compared: plate, pipette, ruler and overfill adjustment. The adjustment methods using plate and pipette presented good agreement with the tank’s nominal volume and lower uncertainty among the tested methods.Indisponível
Efeitos do tamanho da semente sobre a germinação, o vigor e a produção do milho (Zea mays L.)
The effects of seed size on germination, vigor and yield of corn (Zea mays L.) were studied by means of laboratory tests and a field experiment. The following tests were performed: first count of germination, rapid aging and ammonium chloride test. The effect on yield was determinated by means of a randomized block design field experiment. Analysis and interpretation of results showed that seed size had no influence on germination, vigor and yield.
Data on network of live cattle exports from Brazil
This report describes the network of live cattle exports from Brazil using Microsoft Office Excel® files, Terraview®, Maporama®, Pajek® and Google Maps® softwares. The database contains estimates obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) and underwent descriptive, spatial and flow network. The network of live cattle exports from Brazil was determined using data from 27,517 Animal Transit Certificates (ATC) and 579 Veterinary Certificate for International Trade. International departure points, municipalities and states of origin, destination countries, purpose of export and compliance with sanitary requirements for exports, cattle movement and the main transportation corridors were showed through flow network. The states that exported live cattle were Pará, Rio Grande do Sul, Tocantins, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Maranhão. Vila do Conde Port, located in Barcarena municipality in the state of Pará, was the main international departure point of animals, which were intended mostly for immediate slaughter in the importing country. The internal cattle transportation corridors of the main counties and farms that provide animals for exports in 2009 were mapped
Genome mining of endophytic streptomyces wadayamensis reveals high antibiotic production capability
The actinobacteria Streptomyces wadayamensis A23, an endophitic strain, was recently sequenced and previous work showed qualitatively that the strain inhibits the growth of some pathogens. Herein we report the genome analysis of S. wadayamensis which reveals several antibiotic biosynthetic pathways. Using mass spectrometry, we were able to identify desferoxamines, several antimycins and candicidin, as predicted. Additionally, it was possible to confirm that the biosynthetic machinery of the strain when compared to identified known metabolites is far underestimated. As suggested by biochemical qualitative tests, genome encoded information reveals that the strain A23 has high capability to produce antibiotics. The actinobacteria Streptomyces wadayamensis A23, an endophitic strain, was recently sequenced and previous work showed qualitatively that the strain inhibits the growth of some pathogens. Characteristics of resistance training-based protocols in older adults with sarcopenic obesity: a scoping review of training procedure recommendations
Background: Sarcopenic obesity (SO) is a clinical and functional disease
characterized by the coexistence of obesity and sarcopenia. Resistance training
(RT) characteristics for older adults with sarcopenia or obesity are already well
established in the scientific literature. Nonetheless, we still do not know how
detailed the RT protocols are described for older adults with SO. Therefore, we
aimed to analyze the characteristics of RT programs, including each of their
variables, recommended for older adults with SO.
Methods: This is a scoping review study that was conducted in accordance
with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis
for Scoping Reviews. The search was carried out until November 2022 in
PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, LILACS,
Google Scholar, and medRxiv databases. The studies included SO diagnosis and
RT as an intervention strategy. The RT variables analyzed were as follows: exercise
selection, the volume of sets, the intensity of load, repetition cadence, rest interval
between sets, and weekly frequency.
Results: A total of 1,693 studies were identified. After applying the exclusion
criteria, 15 studies were included in the final analysis. The duration of the RT
intervention ranged from 8 to 24 weeks. All studies included full-body routines,
with single/multi-joint exercises. Regarding the volume of sets, some studies fixed
it in three sets, whereas others varied between one and three sets. The load was
reported by repetition range and the weight lifted, elastic-band color/resistance,
percentage of one repetition maximum, or perceived exertion scale. Repetition
cadence was fixed in some studies, while it was self-selected between concentric
and eccentric phases in others. The interval between sets of rest varied from
30 to 180 s. All studies reported progression overload during the interventions.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
