The article discusses the possible ecological and environmental threats that Europe can be faced with in the nearest future, along with the possible scenarios of the damage. The analysis presents several ideas for dealing with the threats, as well as problem-solving models, with special attention paid to Jeremy Rifkin’s ‘Third Industrial Revolution Concept’. The basis of the concept is the social aspect of the ecological change that the future may bring about. The demands and challenges that will have to be met as a result of the change are central for this article

Władysław Sommerville Lach-Szyrma and the Cornish Revival

Władysław Sommerville Lach-Szyrma (1841–1915) was born in Devonport, 25 December 1841, to a Polish father and English mother. As an Anglican clergyman, writer and historian he contributed to the Cornish Revival in the early twentieth century, with his historical, folklorist and linguistic research. In Poland he is relatively unknown, unlike his more famous father – the academic and writer Krystyn Lach-Szyrma. This paper examines his Polish background, and the Cornish chapter in his life, starting from his gathering of Cornish folklore and ending with his cooperation with Henry Jenner on the rebirth of the language. It would be difficult to understand his interests in languages and cultures without discussing his Polish background

Ośrodek szkolnictwa średniego w Ostrowie Wielkopolskim i zasięg jego oddziaływania

Ostrów Wielkopolski pod koniec XX w. odgrywał ważną rolę ośrodka edukacyjnego w województwie kaliskim. Reforma administracyjna u schyłku lat 90. (wdrożona w 1999 r.) oraz reforma szkolnictwa w Polsce – poprzez wprowadzenie m.in. sześcioletniej szkoły podstawowej i trzyletniego gimnazjum (jako edukacji w wymiarze powszechnym, tzw. I stopnia) – postawiły miasto przed konicznością przystosowania się do pełnienia funkcji ośrodka edukacyjnego we wschodniej części województwa wielkopolskiego. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest charakterystyka Ostrowa Wielkopolskiego jako ośrodka edukacyjnego II stopnia (tzn. 3, 4 i 5 poziomu według Polskiej Ramy Kwalifikacji) z perspektywy kolejnego etapu przemian na przełomie XX i XXI w. Na podstawie danych ze szkół ponadpodstawowych ustalono empiryczny zasięg oddziaływania Ostrowa Wielkopolskiego oraz wykorzystano model różnicy potencjałów dla poszukiwania rozwiązania modelowego

DC to DC USB-C Charger

The DC House USB-C Charger will convert the 48V input from the DC house, found on the Cal Poly campus, to 3 USB-C outputs: 5V, 12V, and 24 volts. The converter will deliver a total of 185 Watts out across all 3 outputs, with an efficiency greater than 82% at full load. The USB-C ports will be used to connect to compatible phones, laptops or any other device for charging/powering purposes. The goal of this project is to develop the most efficient and safe converter to deliver power to multiple outputs using USB-C, for items as small as a cell phone to the size of a mini fridge. Currently, the DC house does not contain this USB-C feature. USB-C is the connector type that technological companies are using more and more within their new products. With this said, it is necessary to design and implement this charging capability to the DC house. Once implemented, this project will assist in having the house up to date with the most current technological advancements
