Measurement of the decay B→Dâ„“Îœ_{ℓ} in fully reconstructed events and determination of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cb}|

    Get PDF
We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcb| using the decay B→DℓΜℓ (ℓ=e,ÎŒ) based on 711 fb−1 of e+e−→΄(4S) data recorded by the Belle detector and containing 772×106 BÂŻB pairs. One B meson in the event is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the other, on the signal side, is partially reconstructed from a charged lepton and either a D+ or D0 meson in a total of 23 hadronic decay modes. The isospin-averaged branching fraction of the decay B→DℓΜℓ is found to be B(B0→D−ℓ+Μℓ)=(2.31±0.03(stat)±0.11(syst))%. Analyzing the differential decay rate as a function of the hadronic recoil with the parametrization of Caprini, Lellouch, and Neubert and using the form-factor prediction G(1)=1.0541±0.0083 calculated by FNAL/MILC, we obtain ηEW|Vcb|=(40.12±1.34)×10−3, where ηEW is the electroweak correction factor. Alternatively, assuming the model-independent form-factor parametrization of Boyd, Grinstein, and Lebed and using lattice QCD data from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations, we find ηEW|Vcb|=(41.10±1.14)×10−3

Measurement of e+eâˆ’â†’ÎłÏ‡cJe^+e^- \to \gamma\chi_{cJ} via initial state radiation at Belle

The process e+eâˆ’â†’ÎłÏ‡cJe^+e^- \to \gamma\chi_{cJ} (JJ=1, 2) is studied via initial state radiation using 980 fb−1^{-1} of data at and around the ΄(nS)\Upsilon(nS) (nn=1, 2, 3, 4, 5) resonances collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider. No significant signal is observed except from ψ(2S)\psi(2S) decays. Upper limits on the cross sections between s=3.80\sqrt{s}=3.80 and 5.56 GeV5.56~{\rm GeV} are determined at the 90% credibility level, which range from few pb to a few tens of pb. We also set upper limits on the decay rate of the vector charmonium [ψ(4040\psi(4040), ψ(4160)\psi(4160), and ψ(4415)\psi(4415)] and charmoniumlike [Y(4260)Y(4260), Y(4360)Y(4360), and Y(4660)Y(4660)] states to ÎłÏ‡cJ\gamma\chi_{cJ}.Comment: Accepted by PR

Search for B+ -> l+ nu gamma decays with hadronic tagging using the full Belle data sample

We search for the decay B+ -> l+ nu gamma with l+ = e+ or mu+ using the full Belle data set of 772 x 10^6 BBbar pairs, collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We reconstruct one B meson in a hadronic decay mode and search for the B+ -> l+ nu gamma decay in the remainder of the event. We observe no significant signal within the phase space of E_gamma^sig > 1 GeV and obtain upper limits of BR(B+ -> e+ nu gamma) mu+ nu gamma) l+ nu gamma) < 3.5 x 10^-6 at 90 % credibility level.Comment: Submitted to Phys. First Observation of CP Violation in B0->D(*)CP h0 Decays by a Combined Time-Dependent Analysis of BaBar and Belle Data

    Get PDF
We report a measurement of the time-dependent CP asymmetry of B0->D(*)CP h0 decays, where the light neutral hadron h0 is a pi0, eta or omega meson, and the neutral D meson is reconstructed in the CP eigenstates K+ K-, K0S pi0 or K0S omega. The measurement is performed combining the final data samples collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BaBar and Belle experiments at the asymmetric-energy B factories PEP-II at SLAC and KEKB at KEK, respectively. The data samples contain ( 471 +/- 3 ) x 10^6 BB pairs recorded by the BaBar detector and ( 772 +/- 11 ) x 10^6, BB pairs recorded by the Belle detector. We measure the CP asymmetry parameters -eta_f S = +0.66 +/- 0.10 (stat.) +/- 0.06 (syst.) and C = -0.02 +/- 0.07 (stat.) +/- 0.03 (syst.). These results correspond to the first observation of CP violation in B0->D(*)CP h0 decays. The hypothesis of no mixing-induced CP violation is excluded in these decays at the level of 5.4 standard deviations.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letter

We report the discovery of Ξc(3055)0\Xi_{c}(3055)^{0}, observed by its decay into the final state ΛD0\Lambda D^{0}, and present the first observation and evidence of the decays of Ξc(3055)+\Xi_c(3055)^{+} and Ξc(3080)+\Xi_c(3080)^{+} into ΛD+\Lambda D^{+}. We also perform a combined analysis of the ΛD+\Lambda D^{+} with the ÎŁc++K−\Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-} and ÎŁc∗++K−\Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-} decay modes to measure the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We measure the ratios of branching fractions B(Ξc(3055)+→ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3055)+→Σc++K−)=5.09±1.01±0.76{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3055)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=5.09\pm1.01\pm0.76, B(Ξc(3080)+→ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc++K−)=1.29±0.30±0.15{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Lambda D^{+})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.29\pm0.30\pm0.15, and B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc∗++K−)/B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc++K−)=1.07±0.27±0.01{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{\ast ++}K^{-})/{\cal B}(\Xi_{c}(3080)^{+} \to \Sigma_{c}^{++}K^{-})=1.07\pm0.27\pm0.01, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The analysis is performed using a 980 fb−1^{-1} data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^{+}e^{-} collider.Comment: Submitted to PR

Study of π0\pi^0 pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions

We report a measurement of the differential cross section of π0\pi^0 pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, Îłâˆ—Îłâ†’Ï€0π0\gamma^* \gamma \to \pi^0 \pi^0, in e+e−e^+ e^- scattering. The cross section is measured for Q2Q^2 up to 30 GeV2^2, where Q2Q^2 is the negative of the invariant mass squared of the tagged photon, in the kinematic range 0.5 GeV < W < 2.1 GeV and ∣cos⁡ξ∗∣|\cos \theta^*| < 1.0 for the total energy and pion scattering angle, respectively, in the γ∗γ\gamma^* \gamma center-of-mass system. The results are based on a data sample of 759 fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+ e^- collider. The transition form factor of the f0(980)f_0(980) and that of the f2(1270)f_2(1270) with the helicity-0, -1, and -2 components separately are measured for the first time and are compared with theoretical calculations.Comment: 36 pages, 37 figures, 11 tables, Belle Preprint 2015-15, KEK Preprint 2015-2

Observation of D0−Dˉ0D^0-\bar{D}^0 Mixing in e+e−e^+e^- Collisions

We observe D0−Dˉ0D^0-\bar{D}^0 mixing in the decay D0→K+π−D^0\rightarrow K^+\pi^- using a data sample of integrated luminosity 976 fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^+e^- asymmetric-energy collider. We measure the mixing parameters xâ€Č2=(0.09±0.22)×10−3{x'}^2 = (0.09\pm0.22)\times 10^{-3} and yâ€Č=(4.6±3.4)×10−3y' = (4.6\pm3.4)\times 10^{-3} and the ratio of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed to Cabibbo-favored decay rates RD=(3.53±0.13)×10−3R_D = (3.53\pm0.13)\times 10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic combined. Our measurement excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at the 5.1 standard deviation level.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

We report a measurement of the branching fraction ratios R(D(*)) of Bbar -> D(*) tau- nubar_tau relative to Bbar -> D()* l- nubar_l (where l = e or mu) using the full Belle data sample of 772 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The measured values are R(D)= 0.375 +- 0.064(stat.) +- 0.026(syst.) and R(D*) = 0.293 +- 0.038(stat.) +- 0.015(syst.). The analysis uses hadronic reconstruction of the tag-side B meson and purely leptonic tau decays. The results are consistent with earlier measurements and do not show a significant deviation from the standard model prediction.Comment: Accepted for publication in Phys.Rev.
