AbstractThis article analyzes part of the research data on undergraduate perceptions of teaching. We also seek to learn how they evaluate the contribution and role of the Faculty of Education, and especially the Didactic discipline, in their formation. The research is anchored in the need pointed out by different authors to better understand the action of Professor Cruz (2014), André (2010), Tardif (2012) and Gauthier, (2013). The results show that most of the respondents act as teachers in their teaching they persevere in practices centered on content, although they also seek to monitor the development of students. Finally, we discuss the role they attribute to the Faculty of Education, to Didactics as well as to peers in their professional development.Key words: Teacher training; Education; Didactics.

This text examines approaches to teach writing, especially words, in the context of early literacy education. In order to that, we analyze notebooks from first year elementary school students. The analysis is guided by the understanding that school notebooks are a rich source for identifying various dimensions of teaching processes. The notebooks do not represent all the writing that goes on the classroom (e.g. separated copies of exercise, writing in the computer). However, students’ notebooks are seen as documents that give a glimpse to the ways teachers conceive how writing should be thought in the first years of elementary school.

A novel MHC-II targeted BVDV subunit vaccine induces a neutralizing immunological response in guinea pigs and cattle

Bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) is a major cause of economic loss in the cattle industry, worldwide. Infection results in reduced productive performance, growth retardation, reduced milk production and increased susceptibility to other diseases leading to early culling of animals. There are two primary methods used to control the spread of BVDV: the elimination of persistently infected (PI) animals and vaccination. Currently, modified live or inactivated vaccines are used in BVDV vaccination programmes, but there are safety risks or insufficient protection, respectively, with these vaccines. Here, we report the development and efficacy of the first targeted subunit vaccine against BVDV. The core of the vaccine is the fusion of the BVDV structural protein, E2, to a single-chain antibody, APCH, together termed, APCH-E2. The APCH antibody targets the E2 antigen to the major histocompatibility type II molecule (MHC-II) present on antigen-presenting cells. Industrial production of the vaccine is carried out using the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) using single-use manufacturing technologies. This new subunit vaccine induces strong BVDV-specific neutralizing antibodies in guinea pigs and cattle. Importantly, in cattle with low levels of natural BVDV-specific neutralizing antibodies, the vaccine induced strong neutralizing antibody levels to above the protective threshold, as determined by a competition ELISA. The APCH-E2 vaccine induced a rapid and sustained neutralizing antibody response compared with a conventional vaccine in cattle.Fil: Bellido, Demian. Serological assays, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), provide an usefultool for screening animals for the presence of antibodies (Abs) against a wide range of infectious agents (including viruses that cause respiratory disease in cattle) and are mainly used in veterinary medicine to assist to the control and disease?s monitoring. The aim of the present study was developing and validating one indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on semi purified bovine parainfluenza virus type 3 (BPIV3).This test would allow to detect and quantify Abs against PI3 in serum sample from cattle and guinea pigs on both purposes diagnostic and typify/specify the quality of vaccines. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity from the assay was 88% and 100% for bovine samples, using a threshold of corrected optical density, ODc =0.300, and 91% and 100% for guinea pig samples with a ODc =0.250.The intermediate precision expressed as the assays positive control coefficient of variation (CV) was 20% for bovines and 8.5% for guinea pigs. Both techniques reproducibility obtained in interlaboratory assays was CV=17% for bovines and 15% for guinea pigs, which found the requirements of OIE (CV<30%). The efficacy of biological medicinal products, such as vaccines, relies an optimal model testing quality control. The validated ELISAs represents an important tool for testing vaccine quality, and quantifying and controling BPIV3 infections on cattle.Fil: Maidana, Silvina Soledad.
