Developing Unobtrusive Mobile Interactions: a Model Driven Engineering approach
In Ubiquitous computing environments, people are surrounded by a lot of embedded services. With the inclusion of pervasive technologies such as sensors or GPS receivers, mobile devices turn into an effective communication tool between users and the services embedded in their environment. All these services compete for the attentional resources of the user. Thus, it is essential to consider the degree in which each service intrudes the user mind when services are designed.
In order to prevent service behavior from becoming overwhelming, this work, based on Model Driven Engineering foundations, is devoted to develop services according to user needs. In this thesis, we provide a systematic method for the development of mobile services that can be adapted in terms of obtrusiveness. That is, services can be developed to provide their functionality at different obtrusiveness levels by minimizing the duplication of efforts.
For the system specification, a modeling language is defined to cope with the particular requirements of the context-aware user interface domain. From this specification, following a sequence of well-defined steps, a software solution is obtained.Gil Pascual, M. (2010).
Extracting Knowledge from Software Artefacts to Assist Software Project Stakeholders
Software development methods should foster the exploitation of artefacts from existing code bases in order to improve software development productivity. These artefacts are commonly stored in repositories from which extracting knowledge is very difficult for several reasons, i.e., the stored data is represented in a wide variety of formats or is not usually linked properly to all the related artefacts. In this work, we address the challenge of extracting knowledge from different artefacts that can be produced within a software project. To this end, we present a Persistent Knowledge Monitor (PKM) for handling several kinds of knowledge and information related to a software project. The PKM bases on the JSON format to structure and store the different artefacts. By using a common representation format, we are able to extract knowledge more easily. Also, we provide a query language for searching and reasoning on the stored data
This work revolves around the teaching-learning in writing and reading, considering that they are both a priority knowledge in teaching within education.
After reviewing the different theories published about the teaching of writing and their main methodologies, we will focus in the combination of reading and writing ('lectoescritura'), their methods and resources, establishing a link with an educational proposal for intervention.
Finally, we explain critical and reflexive conclusions about what this work means, together with the bibliography.
identidad.Illustrations are decisive important factors in one’s identity conformation. This
paper analyses the visual curriculum in a preschool classroom, focusing on what it may
transmit regarding gender roles. To do it, a theoretical review has been made, in which
related to the topic are shown; as well as a deep analysis of the visual curriculum
elements in a preschool classroom. The paper also includes different proposals, one of
them put into practice, to make children think of the influence of visual
representations in the process of their identity building. Finally, some other
pedagogical resources are included to work this subject.
To conclude, visual cultures in children’s environment configure their identities
based on their sex. In this way, it is essential for teachers to show a wide variety of
possibilities to be for children, so they can create their own identity.
This work revolves around the learning of the concepts space and time in the first years of the teaching in Primary School, because it is one of the topics in Social Sciences most difficult to conceive and discern in the early years of childhood. Therefore, if these concepts are not acquired with a good basis, it could carry conceptual problems that the children will suffer for all of their lives.
After revising different essays about these concepts from experts in this field and connecting them with the educative curriculum designed by the Government, we will focus in methodologies that help students in acquiring these concepts thorough a more practical and simple way. Beginning from these methodologies we will stablish a teaching proposal with a transversal feature for the second course of Primary School.
To sum up, we present critical and reflexive conclusions about what the accomplishment of this work has meant.Grado en Educación Primari
Dietary Patterns and Their Association with Body Composition and Cardiometabolic Markers in Children and Adolescents: Genobox Cohort
Diet is a key factor for obesity development; however, limited data are available on
dietary cluster analysis in children with obesity. We aimed to assess the associations between dietary
patterns and obesity and several cardiometabolic markers. Anthropometry, bioelectrical impedance,
blood pressure and plasma biomarkers of oxidative stress, inflammation and endothelial damage
were determined in 674 Caucasian children, aged 5–16, with normal or excess weight. Using a food
frequency questionnaire and cluster analysis, two consistent dietary patterns were shown, labeled as
health conscious (HC) and sweet and processed (SP). The HC pattern included a greater proportion of
participants with overweight/obesity than the SP cluster (80.1% vs. 63.8%). However, children with
obesity within the HC cluster, showed less abdominal fat, through waist to hip (0.93 vs. 0.94) and
waist to height (0.61 vs. 0.63) indexes (p < 0.01). Univariate general models showed several additional
di erences in cardiometabolic risk biomarkers in the global and stratified analyses, with a healthier
profile being observed mainly in the HC cluster. However, multivariate models questioned these
findings and pointed out the need for further studies in this field. Anyhow, our findings support the
benefits of a healthy diet and highlight the importance of dietary patterns in the cardiometabolic risk
assessment of children with overweight/obesity, beyond weight control.Plan Nacional de Investigacion Cientifica, Desarrollo e Innovacion Tecnologica (I+D+I), Instituto de Salud Carlos III-Health Research Funding (FONDOS FEDER)
