Interpretación del problema público de asistencia alimentaria en el Programa de Alimentación Escolar-PAE- y la Política Pública de Seguridad y Soberanía Alimentaria y Nutricional – PSSAN - de Medellín

El Programa de Alimentación Escolar – PAE, es una apuesta a nivel nacional que busca, entre otras cosas, el fomento de hábitos alimentarios saludables y el acceso a alimentos, como dos variables que hacen parte de la interpretación del problema público de asistencia alimentaria -- Este programa se encuentra bajo los lineamientos de la Política Pública Nacional de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional y es respaldado por la Política Pública de Seguridad y Soberanía Alimentaria y Nutricional de Medellín -- Sin embargo, la interpretación del problema público de asistencia alimentaria según los objetivos del programa y los objetivos de la Política Pública Nacional de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional no es la misma, lo cual repercute en los resultados del programa en materia de hábitos alimentarios saludables -- Siendo orientados y vinculados los objetivos del programa PAE como herramienta para contribuir a incrementar la matrícula, reducir el ausentismo y mejorar el proceso cognitivo de los escolares en el sistema educativ

Cardiovascular stability during arteriovenous extracorporeal therapy: a randomized controlled study in lambs with acute lung injury

INTRODUCTION: Clinical application of arteriovenous (AV) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) requires assessment of cardiovascular ability to respond adequately to the presence of an AV shunt in the face of acute lung injury (ALI). This ability may be age dependent and vary with the experimental model. We studied cardiovascular stability in a lamb model of severe ALI, comparing conventional mechanical ventilation (CMV) with AV-ECMO therapy. METHODS: Seventeen lambs were anesthetized, tracheotomized, paralyzed, and ventilated to maintain normocapnia. Femoral and jugular veins, and femoral and carotid arteries were instrumented for the AV-ECMO circuit, systemic and pulmonary artery blood pressure monitoring, gas exchange, and cardiac output determination (thermodilution technique). A severe ALI (arterial oxygen tension/inspired fractional oxygen <200) was induced by lung lavage (repeated three times, each with 5 ml/kg saline) followed by tracheal instillation of 2.5 ml/kg of 0.1 N HCl. Lambs were consecutively assigned to CMV treatment (n = 8) or CMV plus AV-ECMO therapy using up to 15% of the cardiac output for the AV shunt flow during a 6-hour study period (n = 9). The outcome measures were the degree of inotropic and ventilator support needed to maintain hemodynamic stability and normocapnia, respectively. RESULTS: Five of the nine lambs subjected to AV-ECMO therapy (56%) died before completion of the 6-hour study period, as compared with two out of eight lambs (25%) in the CMV group (P > 0.05; Fisher's exact test). Surviving and nonsurviving lambs in the AV-ECMO group, unlike the CMV group, required continuous volume expansion and inotropic support (P < 0.001; Fisher's exact test). Lambs in the AV-ECMO group were able to maintain normocapnia with a maximum of 30% reduction in the minute ventilation, as compared with the CMV group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: AV-ECMO therapy in lambs subjected to severe ALI requires continuous hemodynamic support to maintain cardiovascular stability and normocapnia, as compared with lambs receiving CMV support

Automatic segmentation of a meningioma using a computational technique in magnetic resonance imaging

Through this work we propose a computational techniquefor the segmentation of a brain tumor, identified as meningioma(MGT), which is present in magnetic resonance images(MRI). This technique consists of 3 stages developed inthe three-dimensional domain: pre-processing, segmentationand post-processing. The percent relative error (PrE) is consideredto compare the segmentations of the MGT, generatedby a neuro-oncologist manually, with the dilated segmentationsof the MGT, obtained automatically. The combination ofparameters linked to the lowest PrE, provides the optimal parametersof each computational algorithm that makes up theproposed computational technique. Results allow reporting aPrE of 1.44%, showing an excellent correlation between themanual segmentations and those produced by the computationaltechnique developed

Segmentación automática de un meningioma usando una técnica computacional en imágenes de resonancia magnética

Esta técnica consta de 3 etapas desarrolladas en el dominio tridimensional: preprocesamiento, segmentación y postprocesamiento. El porcentaje de error relativo (PrE) se considera para comparar las segmentaciones de la MGT, generadas por un neurooncólogo de forma manual, con las segmentaciones dilatadas de la MGT, obtenidas automáticamente. La combinación de parámetros vinculados al PrE más bajo proporciona los parámetros óptimos de cada algoritmo computacional que conforma la técnica de cálculo propuesta. Los resultados permiten informar un PrE de 1.44%, mostrando una excelente correlación entre las segmentaciones manuales y las producidas por la técnica computacional desarrollada

Prototipo para la enseñanza de los conversores estáticos de potencia

In this article the design of a didactic module is presented for the teaching of the Power electronics,where different applications of staticpower converters can be implemented, such as: AC voltage controllers (single phase and three phase), controlled rectifiers (single phase and three phase),choppers and bridges inverters (single phase and three phase). The device has an over load protection which avoid semiconductor damage in case 01 an incorrect or bad operation. Themodule can be programmed and controlled in local way using a keyboard and display or inremote wayfrom a PC by an application of Lab view. The developed prototype, at low cost, it is constituted in a tool that allows to the students to observe, using an oscilloscope, the differentwave forms obtained in the different converters; increasing their interest and facilitating the conceptualization of the different applications of the converters.En este artículo sepresenta el diseño de un módulo didáctico para la enseñanza de la Electrónicade Potencia, en donde se pueden implementar diferentes aplicaciones de conversores estáticosde potencia, tales como: control AC de línea (monofásico y trifásico), rectificadores controlados(monofásico y trifásico), troceador reductor y puentes inversores (monofásico y trifásico). Elequipo está protegido contra sobrecorrientes, (por un sistema software y hardware), que por surápida respuesta pennite la protección de los semiconductores de potencia en caso de unaconexión incorrecta o una mala operación. El módulo puede ser programado y controlado enmodo local empleando un teclado y display o en modo remoto desde un PC mediante una aplicación de Labview.
