The reflections on ethical dilemmas that arise in professional practice areimportant moments of redefinitions of our ethnography practice. This paper reviewshow systematic and different reflection on ethical dilemmas may enrich the debateabout the way we make ethnography and the appropriate methods for carrying itout. I also analyze the importance of giving some philosophical and anthropologicaldefinitions about ethics and moral, to rethink the way social anthropologist arethinking about the issue in contemporary context

This article, intent to be a contribution for anthropologist who want to incorporate the concept of professional responsibilities into their dailies practices. Since American’s anthropological theoretical and normative productions we’ll analyse the development, transformation and the new debates that arise when we want to answer the question: which are the responsibilities that anthropologist have when make development.

Glyphosate and Glufosinate Residues in Honey and Other Hive Products

Hive products have numerous beneficial properties; however, the hive’s health is affected by the surrounding environment. The widespread use of herbicides in agriculture, such as glyphosate and glufosinate, has raised alarm among consumers, beekeepers, and environmentalists due to their potential to harm bees and humans through the consumption of bee products. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the presence of glyphosate, glufosinate, and their metabolites in hive products, collecting and comparing available data from peer-reviewed research and surveys conducted across several countries. Moreover, it analyzes and discusses the potential impacts of these substances on human and bee health, analytical aspects, and recent regulatory developments. The data has revealed that these substances can be present in the different matrices tested, but the concentrations found are usually lower than the maximum residue limits set. However, the use of different methodologies with non-uniform analytical performances, together with an incomplete search for regulated analytes, leads to heterogeneity and makes comparisons challenging. In addition to the completion of studies on the toxicology of herbicide active ingredients, further monitoring actions are necessary, harmonizing analytical methodologies and data management procedures

Należy do nich Światowy Program Edukacji Praw Człowieka (World Program for Human Rights Education) na lata 2020–2024. Na podstawie doświadczeń młodych aktywistów na rzecz praw człowieka autorka przedstawia zadania i możliwości edukacji praw człowieka w zakresie tworzenia społeczeństwa integracyjnego. In recent years, human rights education with, for and by youth has been increasingly identifi ed as a strategy for preventing and tackling current global challenges. According to the United Nations, there are around 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world today: the largest youth population ever, although there is no consistent defi nition of young people. The great majority live in countries where violence and confl ict are still a daily reality. Many are forced to leave their home country, embarking alone on dangerous routes and facing enormous challenges to start a new life in a completely diff erent – and sometimes hostile – place. At the international level several frameworks that place young people at the centre have been adopted, such as the fourth phase of the World Programme for Human Rights Education (2020–2024) which will focus onyouth. Based on the direct experiences of young human rights activists and educators, this paper aims to demonstrate the critical role that human rights education can play in fostering young global citizens who can contribute to building inclusive societies, and pave the way to establishing an authentic culture of human rights

Erudizione e medicina nelle lettere di Jacopo Corbinelli a Gian Vincenzo Pinelli (1579-1587)

This study of the letters of Jacopo Corbinelli to Gian Vincenzo Pinelli from between 1579 and 1587 shows how they easily mix erudition with knowledge of science and the art of medicine. The correspondence contains plenty of detail about the bibliographical interests of the two great humanists, but also mentions scientific literature and publications on the plague, along with references to Corbinelli’s relationship with the renowned French physician Bonaventure Granger and, especially, the Italian physician-philosopher Girolamo Mercuriale. The frequency of references to Corbinelli’s health and private affairs increases over the years, with the result that the later letters exemplify certain aspects of the culture of the time and, most interestingly, illuminate some of the Aristotelian beliefs that underpinned the late Renaissance understanding of medicine.

POLYLACTIC ACID: EXPLORING ITS LIMITS AND OVERCOMING ITS BOUNDARIES

I n a world of continuous technological growth, the discovery of plastic materials was warmly welcomed. Indeed, they opened new possibilities and revolutionized industrial manufacture of everyday life goods. The almost incontrollable growth of polymeric materials industrial production, however, brought along the problem of disposal of end-life plastic objects. The increasing necessity of facing the worrying plastic pollution phenomenon, pushed researchers to find environ- mentally friendly polymers, in order to replace the commonly-used oil-derived ones. Among all biopolymers, polylactic acid (PLA) was found to be one of the most attractive. In particular, PLA monomer, i.e. lactic acid, can be extracted from natural sources and PLA itself is fully biodegradable to unharmful byproducts. Polylactic acid is also character- ized by good processability, but its poor toughness and thermal stability are strong hurdles for its wide industrial applicability. For this reason, PLA-related research is usually aimed at improving its lacking properties, while preserving its good features. The PhD thesis here presented fits in this field. In par- ticular, two strategies were studied, namely the preparation of bionanocomposites and the use of alternative synthetic methodologies. From one side, the use of different cellulose-based nanofillers was investigated and resulted in the production of fully biodegradable and biocompatible nanocomposites with improved properties over standard PLA. On the other hand, O-carboxyanhydrides (OCAs) and 1,3-dioxolane-4-ones (DOX) were studied as alternative monomers for the synthesis of highly functionalized polyester-based materials with tailored properties

Validation of a single liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry approach for oxytetracycline determination in bull plasma, seminal plasma and urine

Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which inhibits protein synthesis and is generally used for the treatment of pneumonia, shipping fever, leptospirosis and wound infections in cattle and swine. The present work proposes a novel liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) method for oxytetracycline quantification in bull plasma, seminal plasma and urine, requiring limited sample treatment before analysis. Extraction with trichloroacetic acid followed by dilution of the supernatant in mobile phase proved to be effective in all three matrices, allowing to rapidly process large batches of samples. Sharp and symmetrical peak shape was obtained using a BEH C18 reversed-phase column in a chromatographic run of just 3.5 min. The mass spectrometer operated in positive electrospray ionization mode and monitored specific transitions for oxytetracycline (461.1 → 425.8) and the internal standard demeclocycline (465.0 → 447.6). The method was validated over concentration ranges suitable for field concentrations of oxytetracycline found in each matrix, showing good linearity during each day of testing (R2 always >0.99), as also confirmed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and lack-of-fit tests. Excellent accuracy and precision were demonstrated by calculated bias always within ±15% and CV% below 10% at all quality control (QC) levels in the three matrices. Matrix effect and recovery were investigated for both analytes, which showed consistent and comparable behaviour in each matrix. To our knowledge, this is the first validated approach for mass spectrometric determination of oxytetracycline in seminal plasma and urine. The method was successfully applied to samples collected during a pharmacokinetic study in bulls, allowing to assess the oxytetracycline concentration–time profile in plasma, seminal plasma and urine

Out of the limbo. Mafia and pedagogical resistance

Pedagogy has been blamed of silence and superficiality on the relationship between mafias and education; however, nowadays we are facing a spreading of interest among civil society and institution around educational projects. This research aims to contribute to the pedagogical debate around possible directions to support the civil society response to the problems of mafias. First of all, it deepens different theoretical framework (sociological, criminological, historical, law) and compares the different evolution of mafias (Cosa nostra, camorra, 'ndrangheta in the italian and international context, but also yakuza, triads, and italo-american mafia). The aim is to keep a wide and deep perspective of the problem of mafias in the globalized era. From this analysis emerges the importance of comprehension not only of the pervasiveness of the phenomenon but also the permeability of the contexts and the convergence with inauthentic lifestyles which are connected with consumption, utilitarianism, anthropocentrism and disengagement. Considering this, the research address to understand the evolution of political-institutional and civil initiatives. The importance of education has increased since the '80s, when the law enforcement agents have started to be murdered. To comprehend possible educational goals, the research analyzes different projects, which are narrated through the documentation, interviews and surveys of actors involved and it confronts them with the pedagogical reflections on citizenship and legality. Listening to the relatives of victims, working on the land confiscated to mafiosi and turned into social land trust or social projects, restoring and taking care of public spaces and goods, trying new way of social living: these practices allow us to open the horizon to the utopy of the civilization of empathy if we engage in the development of the ability to comprehend reality and the reasons of the other and to nurture the art of resistence, in the sign of empathy
