    Biostratigraphic reassignment of the neogene Caenolestines (Marsupialia) of the pampean region: the case of Pliolestes Tripotamicus Reig, 1955

    La reinterpretación estratigráfica de un sitio paleontológico controvertido, como las barrancas del río Quequén Salado, permitió ajustar el biocrón del marsupial cenolestino Pliolestes tripotamicus Reig. En estos afloramientos se identificaron dos unidades fosilíferas: una inferior, AUA (Huayqueriense), y una superior, AUB (Montehermosense). P. tripotamicus fue hallado en la unidad AUA, pero no en la AUB ni en localidades típicamente montehermosenses o chapadmalalenses. Esto sugiere que el taxón no fue parte de los elencos montehermosenses–chapadmalalenses. La otra especie, P. venetus Goin et al. (Huayqueriense), y Caenolestidae n. sp. aff. P. tripotamicus (Chasiquense) indican que el género se restringe a los pisos/edades Chasiquense–Huayqueriense. La retracción de los cenolestinos hacia la Región Andina, donde habitan actualmente, habría tenido lugar a comienzos del Plioceno, posiblemente más relacionada con cambios ambientales que con la competencia con roedores cricétidos como se había propuesto.The stratigraphic reinterpretation of a controversial paleontological site such as the Quequén Salado River banks allowed refinement of the biochron of the caenolestine marsupial Pliolestes tripotamicus Reig. Two fossil bearing units were proposed for these exposures: a lower one, AUA (Huayquerian) and an upper one, AUB (Montehermosan). P. tripotamicus is found in AUA, but not in AUB or in typical Montehermosan and Chapadmalalan localities, which suggests that this taxon was not part of the Montehermosan–Chapadmalalan assemblages. The other species, P. venetus Goin et al. (Huayquerian), and Caenolestidae n. sp. aff. P. tripotamicus (Chasicoan) indicate the genus was restricted to the Chasicoan–Huayquerian stages/ages.     5W2H+M: A Broad Gamification Design Process But Focused on Motivation

    Gamification has been increasingly implemented in systems to motivate users. To assist designers in the gamification process there are several frameworks, some of them address motivation in gamification superficially while others focus on motivation and are not broad enough. This work presents the 5W2H+M framework and its use to redesign an already gamified system. Game elements were implemented to motivate users to increase the frequency and quantity of responses; longevity of use; feeling of accompaniment, and; feeling of belonging on the users. An evaluation was conducted with a specialist and showed that the frequency, amount of questions and feeling of belonging improved. However, the longevity and accompaniment can be further addressed

    A personalização em sistemas de e-learning é fundamental, uma vez que esses são utilizados por uma grande variedade de alunos, com características diferentes. Há várias abordagens que visam personalizar ambientes e- learning. No entanto, esses se concentram principalmen- te na tecnologia e / ou em detalhes da rede, sem levar em consideração os aspectos contextuais. Eles consideram apenas uma versão limitada do contexto, proporcionando personalização. Em nosso trabalho, o objetivo é melhorar a personalização do ambiente de aprendizagem e-learning, fazendo uso de uma melhor compreensão e modelagem do contexto educacional e tecnológico do usuário, utilizando ontologias.     A survey of cultural aspects in Human Computer Interaction Research

    Considering culture in human computer interaction research is an important issue since culture has a strong impact on many cognitive and affective processes, closed related to the design and evaluation of interactive systems. Also, people with different cultural backgrounds develop alternative interpretations and strategies and do not value their environment in the same way, and this reflects in their interactions and satisfaction with interactive technologies. In this survey we summarize some concepts of the cultural aspects related to human computer interaction research. After we discuss how HCI practices could address these cultural issues. Our intention is to establish background and some basic concepts for helping researchers incorporating cultural issues in their design and evaluation processes

    Cretaceous Antarctic plesiosaurs: stratigraphy, systematics and paleobiogeography

    The last twenty million years (Maastrichtian–Santonian) of Southern Hemisphere plesiosaur history is especially well recorded in the Weddellian Province (Patagonia; Western Antarctica and New Zealand). The oldest Late Cretaceous plesiosaurs, two specimens referred to Polycotylidae indet., come from the Santonian levels of the Santa Marta Formation, while the oldest elasmosaurids come from the lower Campanian of the same formation. In the lower Maastrichtian of the Snow Hill Island Formation the non-aristonectine elasmosaurid Vegasaurus molyi is recorded together with other non-diagnosable elasmosaurid specimens, but no aristonectines are present. Aristonectines appears in the Antarctic record in the upper Maastrichtian of the López de Bertodano Formation and are represented by Morturneria and cf. Aristonectes. The specimens from the upper Campanian previously referred to Aristonectinae indet. are referred to Elasmosauridae indet., shortening the temporal record of Aristonectinae in Antarctica. Therefore aristonectines appears in the Antarctic record in the upper Maastrichtian of the López de Bertodano Formation and are represented by Morturneria and cf. Aristonectes. The Antarctic Cretaceous elasmosaurids show a paleobiogeographic connection with South America and New Zealand (Weddellian Province). This connection is indicated by the shared presence of the Aristonectinae Kaiwhekea katiki (New Zealand) and Aristonectes (Argentina and Chile). Recent phylogenetic analysis recovered the aristonectines within the Weddellonectia clade, which includes the aristonectines and the non-aristonectines Vegasaurus molyi (Isla Vega, Antarctica); Kawanectes lafquenianum (Argentina); Morenosaurus stocki and Aphrosaurus furlongi (California). Among the Weddellonectia, the aristonectines show a relatively large body size and extremely derived features and probably occupied a trophic niche that differed from the trophic niche of other elasmosaurids. By way of contrast Kawanectes lafquenianum is an extremely small body-sized elasmosaurid restricted to marginal marine (probably estuarine) environments. Therefore the Weddellonectia show high morphological and probably high ecological diversity
