    Se han analizado las variables biomecánicas que determinan la eficacia de un gesto técnico como es el lanzamiento en salto a distancia en balonmano realizado sin y con oposición defensiva. El propósito del trabajo es estudiar los factores de variabilidad por efecto de la oposición. Para el desarrollo de este trabajo se han utilizado las técnicas fotogramétricas tridimensionales (3D). El aspecto más relevante que se desprende de los resultados expuestos es la falta de significación estadística entre todos los factores causales cuando se comparan las dos situaciones experimentales propuestas (sin y con oposición)

    The impact of corporate social responsibility on consumer brand engagement and purchase intention at fashion retailers

    Consumers have demonstrated new ways of engaging with fashion retailers and experiencing their brand values. This research aims to understand better how fashion consumers form their purchase intentions, by exploring how their expectations about corporate social responsibility influence consumer brand engagement and purchase intention. The research comprises two studies, using different methodologies. The first study is quantitative; it involved 1296 individuals and the results were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The second study is qualitative and utilizes expert opinions from the fashion industry; it seeks to derive managerial and practical implications from the findings of the first study. The results show that corporate social responsibility influences the purchase intention of fashion consumers, but mainly through brand engagement.     Infrared thermography and computed tomography imaging for hind limb study after immobilization-induced disuse atrophy

    Immobilization for treatment after an injury can lead to disuse atrophy, resulting in reduced functionality and strength of the immobilized limb. In our study, we utilized infrared thermography (IR) and computed tomography (CT) ex vivo to assess both physiological and structural changes following hind limb immobilization in a young Wistar rat model. Twelve rats weighing 275 ± 30 g had their right hind limbs immobilized with a modified Thomas-splint for varying durations (3, 7, or 14 days). IR imaging using an infrared camera provided insight into limb temperature changes. For micro-CT, we implemented a stain-ethanol fixation method and a gray score which enabled us to visualize and quantify muscle alterations. Thermographic images showed an increase in temperature of up to 8% in the hind limb at supine position at 14 days due to the inflammatory process while micro-CT exhibited muscle shrinkage of 10 and 18% at 7 and 14 days, respectively. Our findings underscore the efficacy of IR and micro-CT as rapid and precise imaging modalities for detecting morphological shifts in muscle tissue, particularly in pathological conditions like atrophy

    Environmental sustainability of cellulose-supported solid ionic liquids for CO2 capture

    Solid ionic liquids (SoILs) with cellulose as a support have been demonstrated recently to be effective and low-cost sorbents for CO2 capture. However, at present it is not clear whether they remove more CO2 than is released in the rest of the life cycle, including their manufacture, regeneration and disposal. It is also unknown what other impacts they may have over the whole life cycle while attempting to mitigate climate change. Therefore, this study evaluates for the first time the life cycle environmental sustainability of cellulose-supported SoILs in comparison with unsupported SoILs and some other sorbents. Four SoILs are assessed for 11 life cycle impacts, including global warming potential (GWP), with and without the cellulose support: methyltrioctyl ammonium acetate ([N1888][Ac]), tetraethyl ammonium acetate ([N4444][Ac]), tetra-octylammonium bromide ([N8888]Br) and 1-butyl-4-methylimidazolium bromide ([Bmim]Br). They are compared with one of the ILs in the liquid state (trihexyltetradecylphosphonium 1,2,4-triazolide ([P66614][124Triz])) and with three conventional sorbents: monoethanolamine (MEA), zeolite powder and activated carbon. The results show that SoILs with cellulose loading in the range of 70%–80 wt% have better environmental performance per unit mass of CO2 captured than the unsupported SoILs. The net removal of CO2 eq. over the life cycle ranges from 20% for pure [Bmim]Br to 83% for [N1888][Ac] with 75% cellulose and for [N4444][Ac] with both 75% and 80% loadings. However, pure [N8888]Br generates three times more CO2 eq. over the life cycle than it removes. Among the SoILs, [N4444][Ac] with 80% cellulose has the lowest life cycle impacts for eight out of 11 categories. When compared to the conventional sorbents, it has significantly higher impacts, including GWP. However, it is more sustainable than [P66614][124Triz]. The results of this study can be used to target the hotspots and improve the environmental performance of cellulose-supported SoILs through sustainable design

    Pollard (1986) estableció el procedimiento para analizar la ventaja de jugar en casa, efecto que en términos anglosajones se denomina “home advantage” (HA). La HA ha sido estudiada en multitud de deportes, tanto individuales como de equipo, determinando su existencia y sus posibles causas. Este artículo analiza la HA de la primera división de fútbol español a lo largo de su historia (desde 1928 hasta el 2011). La muestra es de 80 temporadas y 22.015 partidos jugados en las competiciones de liga de máxima categoría española. La HA es de 70,8±0,14 en las máximas categorías del fútbol español en la época en la que el valor de la victoria era de dos puntos (1928-1995) y de 56,7±0,14 cuando se otorgan tres puntos por la victoria (1995-2011Pollard (1986) established the procedure for analyzing the home advantage (HA).     The use of audio-relaxation does not affect the basketball free throw of young college students

    INTRODUCTION: As the pressure of competition increase, the athlete will begin to doubt or feel insecure, generating muscular tension and difficulty in the movement. In sports, especially basketball, relaxation is a key part of fine-skills coordination. For this reason, it is determinate that audio-relaxation can become of paramount importance in sport. PURPOSE: To determine if the basketball free throw is influenced by audio-relaxation in a group of physically active college students. METHODS: Eight physically active, apparently healthy college students (­4 male and 4 female) volunteered to participate in this study. The students height was 168.3 ± 8.7cm (range, 155-181cm), mass 76.8±19.5kg (range, 51.5-115.0kg) and age 21.5 ± 1.3y.o (range, 20-24y.o). Subjects attended the study on two occasions, with seven days interval between sessions. Randomly, the first session consisted of listening to audio-relaxation for 16 minutes. In the second session (session control), audio-relaxation was not played while the subjects waited for 16 minutes. The application of the treatment was performed in a room isolated from noise and light, just as it happened for the control condition, in which there was no treatment. In each session, the volunteers were evaluated before and after treatment, performing 20 free throws, 10 shots were performed at their own rhythm and the other 10 under pressure (at the sound of the whistle). RESULTS: According to the normal distribution in the values (p=0.200), a two-way repeated measures ANOVA was performed, in which it was found that there is no interaction between listening and not listening to audio-relaxation in the execution of ten free throws at their own rhythm and ten under pressure (p=0.510). CONCLUSION: Listening audio-relaxation does not significantly influence the effectiveness of the basketball free throws, it means that the people will not get improve their performance if use audio-relaxation technique
