Influence of Pop Art on architecture from the Independent Group analysis

A generation that trusts the need for a new point of view which meets current needs, and which is closer to everyday language. Under this premise the Independent Group emerges, as an interdisciplinary collective that accepts the new popular culture driven by mass communication, discusses it and enjoys it. Through the work of the members of the group we will analyze how this thought colonized all areas of production, including architecture

Within the post-modern tourism trends, increases the interest of tourist representatives on the subject of film tourism, from the perspective of gender and type of film, however; animated films have not been considered despite obvious similarities with non-animated films. There are associations in the audience, between films and perceptions as well as in tourism management, due to the effect in terms of emotions, values of production, gender and type of film, and above all; films have great potential in regard to consumption, access and market introduction. This study explores the impact of animated film River in tourist perceptions and expectations, where potential tourists without prior experience in Rio de Janeiro were interviewed before and after enjoying the animated film. The animated film was influential in general perceptions but impact was not measured. Finally, the study proposes and tests a qualitative alternative methodology to be replicated with other animated films that portray other destinations and suggests quantitative approaches

Total electron yields and stopping power of protons colliding with NaCl-type insulator surfaces

    Get PDF
In this paper we report electron yields and stopping power of protons colliding with surfaces of NaCl-type insulators formed with the alkali-metal ions Li+, Na+, K+, and Rb+ and the halides F−, Cl−, Br−, and I−. We also report fitted models for the static and dynamic polarization potentials of the eight ions of interest. The calculations are carried out within the shellwise local plasma approximation using the Levine-Louie response function, instead of the usual Lindhard one, to account for the ionization energy.Fil: García, Andrea Judith. Functional Renormalization Group flows on Friedman-Lema\^{\i}tre-Robertson-Walker backgrounds

We reanalyze the construction of the gravitational functional renormalization group equation tailored to the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner formulation emphasizing its connection to the covariant formulation. The results obtained from projecting the renormalization group flow onto the Einstein-Hilbert action are reviewed in detail and we provide a novel example illustrating how the formalism may be connected to the Causal Dynamical Triangulations approach to quantum gravity.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figure

Electrocoagulation of whey acids: anode and cathode materials, electroactive area and polarization curves

    Get PDF
Anode (Al and Fe) and cathode (graphite and Ti/RuO2) materials have been tested for electrocoagulation (EC) and purification of the acid whey. The electroactive areas (EA) of electrodes were calculated by the double layer capacitance method. Experiments were performed by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and polarization experiments. Among cathodic materials, the Ti/RuO2 electrode showed higher EA (2167 cm2) than graphite (1560 cm2). The Fe anode was found more stable than Al with greater charge transfer carried out in less time. Correlation of these results with those obtained during preliminary tests confirmed high removals (79 %) in 8 h. For the Al electrode, 24 h were required to achieve efficiency of 49 %

Knowledge-building in an environment mediated by digital technology: A case study in higher education

[EN] The advancement of technology in recent years seems to be prompting a re-ontologising of the world. Digital technology is transforming the educational spaces we inhabit, as well as our way of processing information. Although there are already numerous studies that have addressed this technological reality, only a handful have done so from a theoretical perspective. That is why we present research that seeks to reinforce the latest theoretical contributions for understanding how modern technology may be afecting the way in which knowledge is built. Based on the latest research in social constructivism, this is a qualitative study designed to contribute to the creation of a specifc theoretical framework for an onlife world. An ill-structured task and a semi-structured interview were used to observe the use of the think ing skills that enable us to build knowledge and the relationship between them. The results show that the ways of building knowledge are changing, as digital technology fosters the use of higher-order thinking skills that, furthermore, operate in a chaotic, complex, and unpredictable manner. In conclusion, this study upholds the notion that the ways of building knowledge are changing, but we still need more empirical contributions to create a generally accepted theoretical construct for explaining how we build knowledge through digital technology.Publicación en abierto financiada por el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Universitarias de Castilla y León (BUCLE), con cargo al Programa Operativo 2014ES16RFOP009 FEDER 2014-2020 DE CASTILLA Y LEÓN, Actuación:20007-CL - Apoyo Consorcio BUCLE

ICT-enabled co-production of public services: Barriers and enablers. A systematic review

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are being heralded by governments and international organizations as a means of augmenting co-production of public services and a number of major initiatives are being rolled out around the world. In parallel to these activities, a body of scholarly work is emerging that investigates the extent to which ICTs enable, or, pose a barrier to, public service co-production. This paper performs the first systematic review of this emerging literature, and provides insights into the main structural and cultural factors which act as an enabler of, or barrier to, ICT-enabled co-production across government and citizens world-wide.The authors gratefully acknowledge financial support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 726755
