The research responds to the development strategy of the canoeing sport in the province and is part of the process of technical preparation of school kayakers at the EIDE in Guantánamo. The application of research methods showed that there are objective and subjective conditions that limit the apprehension of the motor habit of pedaling during rowing. Coordinated leg-hip work allows mobilizing the greatest number of muscles and improving joint amplitude during the execution of the rowing technique. The author proposes a system of actions to stimulate pedaling in school kayakers during technical preparation. Synthesis of type A zeolites from natural kaolinite for their application in CO2 capture processes

Climate change is the greatest environmental threat of the 21st century, with major economic, social and environmental consequences. The level of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions has increased by 31%, therefore, both governments and the scientific community are taking steps to mitigate emissions into the atmosphere. The most economically sustainable method is the use of low cost adsorbents that perform a selective adsorption of CO2 with respect to other inert gases such as N2. Clay minerals are highly available materials on the planet, are a low cost raw material and have great versatility for various processes in the field of adsorption and catalysis. The present work describes the synthesis of type A zeolite from a hydrothermal process in basic medium using metacaolinite as a starting material. Several parameters such as temperature and time were modified to evaluate the relationship between the formation conditions of the zeolite and its CO2 adsorption capacity. Synthesized catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption at -196 ºC, nuclear magnetic resonance of solids (NMR) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). In addition, the absorption capacity of CO2 with type A zeolites has been evaluated, and all the results were compared with the commercial zeolites. With respect to the results obtained, it can be said that the bands obtained by IR for the synthesized Zeolites are similar to those of the commercial Zeolite. On the other hand, the NMR results show that the synthesized and commercial zeolite present the same chemical environment. Finally, the textural parameters corroborate that in all cases the surface area is low from 12 m2g-1 for kaolinite to 7 m2g-1 for commercial zeolite AUniversidad de Málaga.

One hundred and two consecutive patients scheduled for hip or knee arthroplasty were studied from July 1998 to May 2000, to detect the prevalence of serologic markets of B (HBV) and C (HCV) hepatitis viruses, and its preoperative association with rink or predictive factors. Mean age was 70±6 years, and women predominated. Prevalence of HBV surface antigen was 1,96%, that of HBV anti-core antibody was 26,47%, and no positive markers were observed against HCV. None of variables evaluated as risk or predictive factors showed significant association with presence of serum markers, except previous liver disease. The studied group of patients, representative of the scheduled patients for total hip or knee arthroplasty in our area, does not suggest a higher risk of viral hepatitis transmission. However, a higher number of contacts with HBV than in younger populations have been observed in this group

LaxCe1-xO2-x/2 materials are oxide and/or proton conductors depending on the La-content and they are of interest for numerous electrochemical applications at high temperatures, including membranes for hydrogen separation and fuel cell electrolytes. Samples with low La-content exhibit (x0.4) crystallize with cubic fluorite type structure; while for x>0.4 the structure is still unclear. The crystal structure of these materials is still unknown, some authors reported that the materials exhibit fluorite type structure in the whole compositional range. However, another authors reported a pyrochlore type structure for x0.5. The stabilization of the fluorite or pyrochlore type structure depends mainly on the oxygen sublattice and the vacancy ordering1. In this contribution, LaxCe1-xO2-δ (0<x0.7) materials are prepared by the freeze-drying precursor method and the sintering conditions have been optimized to obtain dense ceramic samples. A complete structural characterization has been carried out by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The average structure determined by conventional XRD indicates that the materials are single fluorite compounds for x0.6. However, the local structure determined by combined electron diffraction and HRTEM is more complex. The SAED patterns reveal diffuse scatterings for x0.5 that have been associated with O-vacancy ordering, leading to a superstructure relative to a single fluorite . This finding is further confirmed by the HRTEM images in the same zone axis. Thermogravimetric and Raman analysis confirmed an increase of oxygen vacancy concentration with La-doping. The overall conductivity was determined by complex impedance spectroscopy in different atmospheres. The samples with high La-content exhibit an important proton contribution at low temperature. In addition, all samples are mixed ion-electronic conductors in hydrogen containing atmosphereUniversidad de Málaga.
