    DIABETIC RETINOPATHY IMAGE CLASSIFICATION USING DEEP NEURAL NETWORK

    Healthcare is an important field where image classification has an excellent value. An alarming healthcare problem recognized by the WHO that theworld suffers is diabetic retinopathy (DR). DR is a global epidemic which leads to the vision loss. Diagnosing the disease using fundus images is a timeconsuming task and needs experience clinicians to detect the small changes. Here, we are proposing an approach to diagnose the DR and its severity levels from fundus images using convolutional neural network algorithm (CNN). Using CNN, we are developing a training model which identifies the features through iterations. Later, this training model will classify the retina images of patients according to the severity levels. In healthcare field, efficiency and accuracy is important, so using deep learning algorithms for image classification can address these problems efficiently

    Microstrip antenna with DGS based on CSRR array for WiMAX applications

    This paper reports a novel method for designing a miniaturized microstrip antenna with DGS based on CSRR array which operates in the frequency of 2.6GHz for low band WiMAX application. The proposed antenna is designed using ANSYS HFSS simulation software. The antenna with optimized parameters is fabricated using FR-4 substrate of thickness 1.6 mm. The simulated and measured performances of the antenna in terms of return loss, directivity and radiation patterns are presented in this work. When Complimentary Split Ring Resonators (CSRRs) array are placed on the ground plane, the resonant frequency is shiftedĀ  to a lower value and patch size is reduced .The measurements were taken and compared with the simulated results. The performance characteristics obtained from the measurements show that the proposed antenna is suited for WiMAX application at 2.6GHz

    ROLE OF AGNI KARMA AND SNEHAPANA IN MANAGEMENT OF PAIN IN CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS: A CASE STUDY

    Introduction: Cervical spondylosis (Greevasthamba) is a degenerative condition with pain in cervical region as a major symptom. In modern science condition is usually treated with analgesic, corticosteroids, surgical decompression, traction etc. which not contribute much promising results. But in Ayurveda several methods like Snehana, Upanaha, Agnikarma, Raktamokshana and Panchakarma etc. are specified in management of pain. Case presentation: A male patient aged 42 years admitted CARIN-MSD, IPD with pain in the neck region since 2 months, which was also radiating to the right upper limb along with numbness up to the tip of fingers. Cervical active range of motions were painful during flexion, extension and lateral rotation. Spurling test and lhermittes sign were positive. Along with the support of X- ray and MRI investigations the patient was diagnosed with cervical spondylosis due to chronic postural strain. Management and Outcome:Patient was treated with Agnikarma and Snehapana, the pain scoreĀ over visual analogue scale and NPQ percentage before treatment was Nine and 87.5 % respectively while after intervention it was reduced to Two and 33.33 % within seven days. Conclusion: In acute painful stage of cervical spondylosis Agnikarma and Snehapana can play a major role in management of pain

    Treatment of wastewater from synthetic textile industry by electrocoagulation and electrooxidation

    Treatment of wastewater from a textile industry that produces synthetic polyester cloths was studied employing electrochemical techniques. The sample was initially subjected to electrocoagulation to remove suspended solids. Mild steel and aluminum electrodes were tried as anodes; and aluminum was found to be effective for the removal of suspended solids. Using aluminum as anode, the chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentration of the effluent which was initially at the level of 1316 mg Lāˆ’1 could be reduced to 429 mg Lāˆ’1 by electrocoagulation. After electrocoagulation, the effluent was further subjected to electrooxidation using graphite and RuO2/IrO2/TaO2 coated titanium as anodes. During the electrooxidation tests, both COD and chloride ion were simultaneously estimated; and the effect of Clāˆ’ ion is discussed. The measurements have revealed the depletion of Clāˆ’ ion concentration implying the generation of free chlorine during electrooxidation. The depletion of Clāˆ’ ion concentration and the COD removal were observed to be comparatively high in the presence of graphite electrode. The effects of electrode materials and current density on COD removal are discussed. The instantaneous current efficiency (ICE), mass transfer coefficient and energy consumption were estimated

    PRESCRIPTION PATTERN OF ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN KERALA AND ADHERENCE TO JNC-8 GUIDELINES

    Objective: Hypertension is a leading contributor to the global burden of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Worldwide prevalence is continuing to increase. Treatment for hypertension is constantly evolving and many new drugs are added at rapid pace. The objective of this study is to investigate utilization pattern of antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients in Azeezia institute of Medical Sciences and Research and to find its adherence to JNC-8 guidelines for management of hypertension. Methods: Descriptive drug utilization study was conducted on 266 hypertensive patients for period of 3 months. Data retrieved from patient's medical record. The study included all hypertensive patients with or without co-morbidities and above 18 yrs who attended out-patient department. Following classes of antihypertensive drugs were analyzed: Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors (ACEI), Angiotensin Receptor blockers (ARB), beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics. ACEI/ARB was mostly prescribed which is in adherence to JNC-8 guidelines which recommends the use of ACEI/ARB as the first choice of drug. Results:  Hypertension is more prevalent in males than in females. ACEI/ARB are the most frequently prescribed classes of drugs alone or in combination, supporting the medication adherence to JNC-8 guidelines. Conclusion: The study concludes that the hypertension is more prevalent in males than in females, with its prevalence increasing with age.     Circularly Polarized Split Ring Resonator Loaded Slot Antenna

    A compact circularly polarized printed slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz is reported. The antenna consists of a pair of rotated square split ring resonators (SRR) inside a rectangular slot etched on the ground plane of an FR-4 dielectric substrate. A microstrip open-loop feed is etched on the backside of the dielectric substrate to feed the slot and the split ring resonators. The overall size of the antenna is 60x42x1.6 mm3. The measured -10dB impedance bandwidth is 10.48% (2.38-2.64 GHz) and the measured 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth covers the entire impedance bandwidth

    Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are among nanoscale materials displaying exponentially growing production due to their applications in the field of cosmetology, medicine, as antibacterial agent and catalyst. The ZnO nanomaterials release into the aquatic ecosystems through domestic and industrial wastewaters has the potential to induce pernicious effects on fish and other organisms. Increasing concerns on the environmental hazard to aquatic biota have been highlighted by the toxic potential of some metal-based nanomaterials. Several characteristics of ZnO-NPs (e.g. size, shape, surface charge and agglomeration state) play a central role in biological effects such as genotoxic, mutagenic or cytotoxic effects. Overall, Zn bioaccumulation, histopathological, and hematological changes with oxidative and cellular stress have been reported in ZnO-NPs exposed animals
