    Get PDF
Monitoring the production process is a critical issue for improving the quality of product and for reducing the costs regarding external failures. Quality control charts are often used to visualize measurements on the process during the monitoring activities. This paper presents a case study based on the use of advanced charts, Cumulative Summation (CUSUM) and Estimated Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) charts, for visualizing the control points of a particular chicken product in fast-food industry. Furthermore, GM (1,1) and GM (1,1) Markov models were built to generate predictions to see the trends and future values to maintain a follow-up procedure for the fluctuations in the process performance. In this context, three control points are considered that are weight of the chicken wings, sterilizer temperature, and grid-pan temperature. The findings provide a significant feedback for the efficiency of the corresponding processes. Results show that the methodology selected to develop these charts has an important impact on creating an effective quality control process

Bulgularımıza göre; (a) firmaların kriz dönemlerinde çekilme sıklığı artmaktadır (b) tecrübeli firmaların çekilme sonrası yeniden başvurma olasılığı yüksektir (c) başarılı aracı kurumlar, çekilme sonrasında yeniden halka arzı cesaretlendirmektedir. Ayrıca (d) çekilme nedenleri ile firmaların yaşı arasında (e) çekilmeler ile satış yöntemi arasında (f) ihraç nedenleri ile halka arz yöntemi arasında ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Firms go to public with several incentives and objectives however they withdraw public offerings with different reasons. In 1991-2013, the reasons of delisting volunteer withdrawals are investigated in 40 firms in Borsa Istanbul stock exchange. Our findings are; (a) firms mostly withdraw in economic crisis periods (b) the probability of resubmission is highly probable for firms with experience (c) successful underwriters encourage resubmissions. Moreover, there is a relationship between (d) withdrawal reasons and firm’s age, (e) withdrawals and selling procedure, (f) withdrawal reasons and public offerings methodology

Background: While vestibular rehabilitation with virtual reality (VR) is becoming more popular every day, the disadvantages of this method are not yet clear. Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the image to be used in vestibular rehabilitation with VR on the systems that provide body posture. Methods: The study was carried out with 36 participants (18 women and 18 men) aged 18 to 30 years. To assess balance control components separately, a sensory organization test was administered to the participants in the presence of stressful and relaxing environment images with VR technology. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory survey was also used to measure the stress values in the created environments. Results: The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory survey revealed that while stressful videos significantly increased stress, relaxing videos reduced stress. Among measurements obtained in the presence of VR, significant decreases were observed mostly in the visual system data. A significant increase in vestibular system data (P=.01) was observed with a decrease in visual system data (P<.001) when the relaxing image was presented. Additionally, there was a significant difference in the somatosensory (P=.001), composite (P=.002), and visual system (P[removed

    How to Compare Fuzzers

Fuzzing is a key method to discover vulnerabilities in programs. Despite considerable progress in this area in the past years, measuring and comparing the effectiveness of fuzzers is still an open research question. In software testing, the gold standard for evaluating test quality is mutation analysis, assessing the ability of a test to detect synthetic bugs; if a set of tests fails to detect such mutations, it will also fail to detect real bugs. Mutation analysis subsumes various coverage measures and provides a large and diverse set of faults that can be arbitrarily hard to trigger and detect, thus preventing the problems of saturation and overfitting. Unfortunately, the cost of traditional mutation analysis is exorbitant for fuzzing, as mutations need independent evaluation. In this paper, we apply modern mutation analysis techniques that pool multiple mutations; allowing us, for the first time, to evaluate and compare fuzzers with mutation analysis. We introduce an evaluation bench for fuzzers and apply it to a number of popular fuzzers and subjects. In a comprehensive evaluation, we show how it allows us to assess fuzzer performance and measure the impact of improved techniques. While we find that today's fuzzers can detect only a small percentage of mutations, this should be seen as a challenge for future research -- notably in improving (1) detecting failures beyond generic crashes (2) triggering mutations (and thus faults).Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure

The effect of myocardial fibrosis on left ventricular torsion and twist in patients with non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy

    Get PDF
Background: Left ventricular (LV) rotation, twist, and torsion are important aspects of thecardiac performance. Myocardial fibrosis can be identified as the late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). In this study, we investigated the associationbetween myocardial fibrosis and LV rotational parameters in patients with nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (NDC).Methods: Twenty-two NDC patients were enrolled. LV dimensions, volumes and ejection fraction (EF) were measured, conventional tissue Doppler imaging data was acquired. Speckletracking imaging was performed to measure LV deformation, LV rotational parameters. Bloodsamples were obtained for NT-proBNP. Late gadolinium enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR) was used to assess cardiac fibrosis index. Results: Myocardial deformation was similar between LGE+ and LGE– groups. LGE+patients have significantly higher basal and lower apical systolic rotation, lower twist andtorsion when compared to LGE– patients. However, untwisting rate was similar between thegroups. Torsion was significantly correlated with LVEF and MR-index. Patients with reversedapical systolic rotation had significantly greater NT-proBNP values, basal systolic rotation andsignificantly lower apical systolic rotation, torsion, and MR-index.Conclusions: Cardiac fibrosis index is closely related with myocardial torsion and LV systolicfunction and may be used for the evaluation of cardiac condition. Reversed apical systolicrotation indicated more extensive cardiac fibrosis as it may reflect severe LV dyssynchrony andpoor LV performance

ABSTRACTWe report a case of primary acquired corneal melanosis without atypia associated with corneal haze in a patient with a history of limbal malignant melanoma and the effect of mitomycin-C. A 75-year-old woman with a history of limbal malignant melanoma presented with loss of vision in right eye. Corneal examination showed a patchy melanotic pigmentation with a central haze. Topical mitomycin-C improved visual acuity and corneal haze. However, the pigmented lesions persisted, and they were removed with alcohol corneal epitheliectomy. Histopathological examination demonstrated primary acquired melanosis without atypia. The lesions were successfully removed, and there were no recurrences during the follow-up period of 36 months. The association of conjunctival and corneal melanosis without atypia is a rare condition. In addition, co-existence of central corneal haze and melanosis may decrease visual acuity. Topical mitomycin-C and alcohol corneal epitheliectomy can be useful treatments in this condition
