Patrząc na Katar przez pryzmat zmian zachodzących w zakresie funkcjonowania kobiet w życiu społecznym, można powiedzieć, że jest to kraj wielu pozornych sprzeczności. Pod względem udziału kobiet w populacji studentów zajmuje trzecie miejsce na świecie, a pomimo tego jedynie co dziesiąta obywatelka Kataru podejmuje pracę zawodową. Mieszkanki Kataru jako pierwsze w Zatoce Perskiej uzyskały prawa wyborcze, jednak żadna kobieta nie zasiada w Radzie Konsultacyjnej. Katar jest monarchią dziedziczną, której fundamenty są oparte na znanej z Arabii Saudyjskiej doktrynie wahhabizmu. Pomimo tego emir od kilkunastu lat przeprowadza w Katarze szerokie reformy społeczne, a pomaga mu w tym jego małżonka. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie udziału kobiet w trzech sferach życia społecznego – edukacji, gospodarce i polityce. Pierwsza sfera stanowi punkt wyjścia, ukazujący rosnący potencjał kobiet, zaś dwie kolejne wskazują na ich faktyczne zaangażowanie gospodarcze i polityczne. Udział kobiet w sferze publicznej jest splotem wielu czynników, a szczególnie: regulacji prawnych, opartych na religii i tradycji norm społecznych oraz stosunku do przemian samych kobiet. Ich konfiguracja ukaże, że przedstawione powyżej sprzeczności są tylko pozorne. Co więcej, w powstałych warunkach zdają się być przewidywalne i logiczne.Maciej Klimiu

Wizerunki kobiet sukcesu w świecie arabskim

The purpose of the paper is to present the images of career women in the Arab world, and in particular to demonstrate different paths taken by them to success. An important topic is also how such women are perceived by the public. In the study, the term success is objectified and results primarily from the position occupied by women in the social hierarchy2 , especially in the politics and business (including show business). So far the problem of career women in the Arab world (and in a broader sense: in the Muslim world) has not been an object of studies or analyses, the more difficult it is, therefore, to discuss the images shaped. Thus, this is a preliminary study with a research base constituted by images of twelve women. (fragment of the text)Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wizerunków kobiet sukcesu w świecie arabskim oraz ukazanie różnorodności sposobów osiągania przez nie sukcesu. Istotnym wątkiem jest także odbiór społeczny takich kobiet. W opracowaniu pojęcie sukcesu ma wymiar zobiektywizowany i wynika przede wszystkim z miejsca zajmowanego przez kobiety w hierarchii społecznej, zwłaszcza w polityce oraz w biznesie (w tym show-biznesie). Problematyka kobiet sukcesu w świecie arabskim (i szerzej: muzułmańskim) nie była jak dotychczas przedmiotem badań i analiz, tym trudniej jest więc mówić o kształtowanych wizerunkach. Coarse version of the Banach-Stone theorem

We show that if there exists a Lipschitz homeomorphism $T$ between the nets in the Banach spaces $C(X)$ and $C(Y)$ of continuous real valued functions on compact spaces $X$ and $Y$, then the spaces $X$ and $Y$ are homeomorphic provided $l(T) \times l(T^{-1})< 6/5$. By $l(T)$ and $l(T^{-1})$ we denote the Lipschitz constants of the maps $T$ and $T^{-1}$. This improves the classical result of Jarosz and the recent result of Dutrieux and Kalton where the constant obtained is 17/16. We also estimate the distance of the map $T$ from the isometry of the spaces $C(X)$ and $C(Y)$

Kancelaria administracji zbiurokratyzowanej. Przedmiot – zakres – model badawczy

The article is an attempt to analyze and define the concept of a bureaucratic office as a subject of research. Over the last hundred years, the office has been a subject of lively interest of Polish science, first for the needs of archival science, and finally also for diplomacy and history of administration. The author analyzes the phenomenon of the office in terms of the organization of office activities, the functions of the organization, and as a document service system (the office system). An important point of reference for recognizing this subject of research is the theory of the document life cycle. The summary of the considerations is the outline of the monograph model of the office.Artykuł jest próbą analizy i zdefiniowania pojęcia kancelarii zbiurokratyzowanej jako przedmiotu badań. Przez ostatnie sto lat kancelaria była przedmiotem ożywionego zainteresowania nauki polskiej najpierw na potrzeby archiwistyki, a ostatecznie także dyplomatyki i historii administracji. Autor analizuje zjawisko kancelarii pod względem organizacji czynności kancelaryjnych, funkcji organizacji oraz jako system obsługi dokumentowej (system kancelaryjny). Ważnym punktem odniesienia do rozpoznania tego przedmiotu badań jest teoria cyklu życiowego dokumentu. Podsumowaniem rozważań jest zarys modelu monografii kancelarii

Amino acid mineralization by Serratia marcescens

Abstract The influence of different cultivation conditions (medium, pH values, temperatures of the process, air access) on the ability of amino acid mineralization via oxidative deamination by Serratia marcescens (facultative anaerobic bacterial strain) was examined. Among 11 tested substrates -amino acids serine and proline, of both optical configurations, were chosen as model substrates for the determination of the acceptable range of the value of external factors influencing the mineralization process. Both pH and oxygen access were found to be limiting factors. While the acidic pH switched off the mineralization, restricted aeration significantly reduced the effectiveness of the process, extending the time for its completion

The article confronts the factual layer of the book with the state of research and comments on the presented interpretations. The author draws attention to the cursory treatment of the presence of civil servants, soldiers and Russian priests in the Kingdom and the similarly perfunctory presentation of the educational policy, as well as the complete omission of the liquidation of the Greek Catholic Church and its consequences.W artykule opisano i zanalizowano polskojęzyczne wydanie pracy niemieckiego historyka Malte Rolfa pt.
