Coping, academic engagement and performance in university students

[EN] The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationships between coping (i.e., adaptive or maladaptive), academic engagement dimensions (i.e., vigor, dedication and absorption) and academic performance, as well as the mediating role of academic engagement dimensions in the relationship between coping and academic performance. Data were collected from a sample of 808 undergraduate students at a Spanish University. Participants completed the Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI) for the measurement of coping strategies and the Work Engagement Student Scale (UWES-SS) for the measurement of academic engagement. Academic performance was evaluated by the grade point average. Results showed that adaptive coping, academic engagement dimensions and academic performance were positively related. Maladaptive coping was negatively related to performance, but there were no significant correlations between maladaptive coping and any academic engagement dimension. Mediation analysis showed that engagement dimensions mediated the relationship between adaptive coping and performance. Adaptive coping increased academic vigor, dedication and absorption and these dimensions improved performance in turn. In conclusion, this study provides evidence of the way in which academic engagement mediates between adaptive coping and performance. Impacto de la información de la página web en el caso de la comunidad académica del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano ITM

La página web es el insumo mediante el cual la institución establece una comunicación interna para la construcción de los procesos que finalmente proyecta al exterior. Si al interior de la organización no hay una real apropiación de la información que existe en ella y una retroalimentación en la circulación de la misma, la proyección hacia afuera va a carecer de coherencia y a entorpecer el cumplimiento de sus objetivos. La investigación sobre el Impacto de la información de la página web en el caso de la comunidad académica del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano ITM determina, a partir de las variables de tipo de información, públicos y formatos de preferencia que la información contenida en la página web del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano ITM, sí tiene un impacto entre los miembros de la comunidad académica en tanto la información relacionada con las actividades propias para el desempeño de sus funciones es identificada por cada uno de los grupos, consultada con la frecuencia requerida para la satisfacción de sus necesidades y valorada como importante en tanto en sus observaciones destacaron la importancia, visibilidad y suficiencia de sus contenido

Reintegration of disabled workers to labor market. A stochastic analysis based on the continuous sample of working lives

The public social security system provides a wide range of benefits. The different contingencies for which it provides coverage provide security for those exposed. However, in order to determine the objectivity of the amount of benefits, it is necessary to analyse the risk factors involved. Total Permanent Disability (TPD) provides protection for people who are unable to carry out their usual profession due to reduced functionality. The compatibility of this benefit with a job other than the usual one prior to the occurrence of the contingency raises doubts about the objectivity and fairness of the benefit, which is due to the complexity and variety of situations in which the subject may find himself. This paper questions the current differentiation in the amount of the benefit and demonstrates the consequences of using a simple system to measure a complex risk, showing that the variables of sex, age or years of incapacity are factors that have a significant influence on it, and should therefore be used to guarantee an equitable and fair system of protection.Universidad de Málaga. Tailoring magnetic anisotropy at will in 3d interconnected nanowire networks

The control of magnetic anisotropy has been the driving force for the development of magnetic applications in a wide range of technological fields from sensing to spintronics. In recent years, the possibility of tailoring the magnetic properties goes together with a need for new 3D materials to expand the applications to a new generation of devices. Herein, the possibility of designing the magnetic anisotropy of 3D magnetic nanowire networks is shown just by modifying the geometry of the structure or by composition. It is also shown that this is possible when the magnetic properties of the structure are governed by magnetostatic anisotropy. The present approach can guide systematic tuning of the magnetic easy axis and coercivity in the desired direction at the nanoscale. Importantly, this can be achieved on virtually any magnetic material, alloy, or multilayers that can be prepared inside porous alumina. These results are promising for engineering novel magnetic devices that exploit tailored magnetic anisotropy using metamaterials concept

Implementación de la facturación electrónica en Colombia

La transformación de las telecomunicaciones y de la información a nivel mundial son un factor incidente en cambios significativos en la economía y en la misma sociedad, dichos cambios hacen que el acceso a la información de todos los actores intervinientes sea más ágil y que quien este a la vanguardia de dichos cambios goce de una herramienta valiosa y que le permite ser más competitivo en el mercado. Ahora bien, dichas tecnologías aceleran los negocios y es deber de los empresarios transformar la forma de ejecutar las transacciones de sus compañías haciendo uso de estas nuevas herramientas, también impulsando puede ser indirectamente a que sus proveedores, clientes y demás usuarios hagan uso de ellas mostrando mediante su modelo de negocio lo agiles que son; en este caso en particular todo lo referente a la factura electrónica. En el caso de Colombia a partir del 01 de enero de 2019 todas las empresas están obligadas a implementar la facturación electrónica cuyas especificaciones están descritas en el Decreto 2242 de 2015, Ley 1819 de 2016 y Resolución 19 de 2016, pero por algunos problemas de transición se han prorrogado estas fechas hasta inicios del año 2020. Este proceso de implementación aunque es nuevo para nuestro país, se ha implementado con éxito en otros países como México, Chile, Argentina, Brasil, entre otros; que puede ser la prueba fehaciente de que aunque al principio se incurran en diferentes costos para la implementación con el transcurrir del tiempo la incorporación de las factura electrónica es muy rentable por la optimización de los costos que demandaba antes la producción en factura de papel. Also, to influence their customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to use them too by showing through their own business models how practical these tools can be, and in this particular case everything regarding electronic Invoicing. In Colombia’s scenario, since January 1st 2019, all companies are required to implement electronic invoicing whose specifications are described in the Decree 2242 of 2015, Law 1819 of 2016 (Ley) and Resolution 19 of 2016. This implementation process, though new in our country, has been successfully applied in other nations like Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brasil among others; this can be a reliable proof that even though at its beginning it can cause different costs, as time goes by, setting up Electronic Invoicing is very profitable due to the reduction of costs that were previously required in printing invoices. Autonomy and isolation experienced by patients and primary caregivers during COVID-19 hospitalization in Barcelona (Spain)

Using qualitative exploratory descriptive methods, 13 patients admitted to the largest hospital in Barcelona (Spain) due to COVID-19 were interviewed by telephone once discharged, as were eight primary caregivers. Data were analyzed using the content analysis method proposed by Krippendorff. Two main themes were identified: (i) Acceptance of mandatory isolation for patients and family caregivers, which refers to the verbalization of a feeling that justifies the imposed isolation and the need for the use of personal protective equipment by the health team for everyone's safety; and (ii) Limited autonomy during hospitalization for patients and family caregivers, which describes participants' perceptions of autonomy during hospitalization. Patients and caregivers experienced feelings of loneliness, which negatively affected their emotional health. In addition, they experienced reduced autonomy due to new habits and routines intended to control the pandemic for the benefit of public and global health

Método de Saberes Cooperativos: transformación de la superación profesional en el tratamiento a la inclusión socio educativa

Objective: The paper describes a working method aimed at transforming the professional improvement of the team of advisors and supervisors of primary education to face socio-educational inclusion. Methods: Research methods such as analysis, synthesis, historical, logical, interview, survey, documentary review and percentage calculation were used as a descriptive statistical method. Result: The main finding is the proposal of a working method aimed at transforming the professional upgrading of the team of advisors and supervisors of primary education to face socio-educational inclusion, characterized by sharing the knowledge learned and building new knowledge from cooperation, skills, habits and values. Conclusions: The professional improvement of the team of advisers and supervisors of primary education in the treatment of socio-educational inclusion is a subject of wide theoretical-methodological repercussion. Its outcomes may be improved by through by using the Cooperative Knowledge Method.Objetivo: El artículo describe un método de trabajo dirigido a la transformación de la superación profesional del equipo de asesores y supervisores de la educación primaria para el tratamiento a la inclusión socio educativa. Métodos: Se emplearon métodos de investigación como el análisis, la síntesis, el histórico, el lógico, la entrevista, la encuesta, la revisión documental y el cálculo porcentual como método estadístico descriptivo. Resultado: Propuesta de un método de trabajo dirigido a la transformación de la superación profesional del equipo de asesores y supervisores de la educación primaria, para el tratamiento a la inclusión socio educativa, caracterizado por el intercambio de los saberes aprendidos y la construcción de nuevos conocimientos habilidades, hábitos y valores. Conclusiones: La superación profesional del equipo de asesores y supervisores de educación primaria en el tratamiento a la inclusión socio educativa es un tema de amplia repercusión teórico metodológica. Sus resultados pueden ser mejorados a partir del empleo del Método de Saberes Compartidos
