Intervenções com atividades físicas para crianças e adolescentes com deficiência visual

A tese contém três artigos científicos, além de capítulos de introdução e considerações finais. No primeiro artigo, a partir de uma revisão de literatura apresentamos a síntese de intervenções relacionadas à prática de atividades físicas para crianças e adolescentes com DV. Os dois artigos seguintes baseiam-se em pesquisa qualitativa (estudo de caso) e exploram o conteúdo de entrevistas semiestruturadas envolvendo sete professores de ensino superior que tem em comum o fato de ministrarem a disciplina Educação Física Adaptada e dirigirem um Camp Abilities, sport camp para jovens com DV. No segundo artigo descrevemos as características dos camps e de seus participantes. No terceiro artigo analisamos a influência dos sport camps na carreira destes profissionaisAbstract: In this Dissertation we investigated physical activity interventions for children and youth with visual impairment (VI). The work is structured in a three-paper format and also includes introduction and final consideration sections. The first paper presents a systematic review, designed to synthesize the available literature on physical activity-related interventions for children and youth with VI. The following articles are based on a qualitative research design (case studies), aiming to explore the content of questionnaires, documents, and interviews performed with seven adapted physical education faculty members who run Camp Abilities (CA), a sport camp for children and youth with VI. Construção de método de solução funcional para problemas de fluxo em meios porosos não saturados

Neste estudo, consideramos um problema transiente de fluxo unidimensional vertical de água em meio poroso insaturado, modelado pela equação Richards não-linear. As reações constitutivas de Van Genuchten são empregadas para representar a capacidade hidráulica e a condutividade. A fórmula da solução é otimizada e avaliada usando a equação governante em um critério de autoconsciente. Os resultados são apresentados para alguns tipos de solo e seus parâmetros relacionados, que são mencionados em literatura.In this study, we consider a transiente vertical one-dimensional flow problem of water in unsaturated porus media, modelled by the non-linear Richards equation. Constitutive relations of Van Genutchten are employed to represent the hydraulic capacity and conductivity. The solution formula is optimized and evaluated using to governing equation for a self-consistency criterion. The results are presented for some oil types and its related soil parameters, that are reported in the literature

O objeto zero de verbos transitivos

O tema deste artigo é o objeto zero implicado, que ocorre com verbos de moldura semântica transitiva, como beber e dirigir. A análise busca demonstrar que esses predicados apresentam um significado especializado, que projeta um tipo específico de objeto implicado na cena evocada pelo verbo. A pesquisa está orientada pelo quadro da Lingüística Funcional norte-americana, que defende que a gramática das línguas naturais se molda a partir das regularidades observadas no uso interativo da língua. Os dados empíricos correspondem a oito narrativas faladas e suas correspondentes escritas extraídas do Corpus Discurso Gramática: a língua falada e escrita na cidade do Natal

Multiple sclerosis and exercise

A esclerose múltipla é uma doença neurológica crônica de origem desconhecida, caracterizada por lesões axonais e áreas de desmielinização do sistema nervoso central. Nessa doença, a incapacidade física e uma série de sintomas estão relacionados ao comprometimento de sistemas funcionais e ao desuso. O tratamento geralmente inclui o uso de imunomoduladores e imunossupressores, que são capazes de retardar, mas não interromper sua progressão. Nas duas últimas décadas, programas incluindo exercícios de fortalecimento muscular, exercícios aeróbios, atividades em meio aquático e ioga têm se mostrado seguros e eficazes para pessoas com esclerose múltipla. A partir de revisão bibliográfica, discutiremos essas pesquisas e seu impacto em aspectos relevantes da doença como as alterações da força muscular, fadiga, espasticidade, depressão e a reação anormal ao calor.Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological disease with unknown etiology, characterized by axon damage and demyelinated areas of the central nervous system. The physical disability and the associated symptoms are usually related to the functional systems impairment and disuse. Immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive agents are commonly used for the treatment, however they can delay but not interrupt the disease progress. In the last two decades muscle strength, aerobic, aquatic and yoga programs have been developed for groups with multiple sclerosis showing its efficiency and safety. From a literature review we will discuss the impact of these programs in relevant aspects of the disease like strength alterations, fatigue, spasticity, depression and abnormal heat reaction

Proposal of resistance exercise for people with multiple sclerosis: a case study

In this study we sought to standardize, propose and apply an adapted resistance exercise program for a group of people with multiple sclerosis (MS). An invitation was made to 80 people attending an institution for people with MS in the city of Campinas, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Neurological disability and impairment were determined by the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS). To evaluate the functional capacity we used the Functional Independence Measure (FIM), walking time (10 feet), the Timed “Up and Go” test, the Box and Block test and the Functional Reach test. The resistance exercise program lasted 10 weeks with two weekly sessions. The nine participants were divided in Group 1 (4 sedentary people) and Group 2 (5 people that regularly participated in other physical exercise programs). One individual from Group 1 completed the program with high compliance, showing no alterations at the EDSS and FIM scores. There was a reduction in the 10 feet walking time (- 21%) and at the Timed “Up and Go” test time (- 12.8%). The Box and Block test showed improvement: dominant limb (2.1%) and non-dominant limb (6.7%), but the Functional reach test deteriorated (- 7.5%). The results of this study are in agreement with the international literature, indicating the adequacy and safety of a resistance exercise program in the improvement of functional aspects for people with MS.Nesse estudo, buscamos sistematizar, propor e aplicar um programa de exercícios resistidos adaptados para um grupo de pessoas com esclerose múltipla (EM). Foram convidadas 80 pessoas com a doença e cadastradas em uma entidade de pessoas com EM da cidade de Campinas e Região. Deficiência e incapacidade neurológica foram determinadas pela Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS). Para avaliar a capacidade funcional utilizou-se a Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF), a caminhada cronometrada de 7,62 metros, o Timed “Up and Go” test, Box and Block test, e o teste de alcance funcional. O programa com exercícios resistidos teve duração de 10 semanas consecutivas, com duas sessões semanais. Nove sujeitos apresentaram-se para o estudo, sendo seus resultados divididos em grupo 1 (4 pessoas sedentárias) e grupo 2 (5 pessoas que participavam ou haviam participado regularmente de outros programas com exercícios físicos). Um sujeito do grupo 1 completou o programa com alta taxa de adesão, tendo sua avaliação não apontado alteração nos valores do EDSS e do MIF. Observou-se redução no tempo para execução da caminhada cronometrada de 7,62 metros (-21%) e no Timed “Up and Go” test (-12,8%). Houve melhora na execução do teste Box and Block: membro direito (2,1%) e membro esquerdo (6,7%) e piora no teste de alcance funcional (-7,5%). Os resultados desse estudo estão de acordo com os dados publicados na literatura, destacando a adequação e segurança de um programa com exercícios resistidos para melhora de aspectos funcionais de pessoas com esclerose múltipla

Oncologic patients representations about the antineoplastic chemotherapy treatment

Objective: To understand and identify the representations of cancer patients on antineoplastic chemotherapy treatment and nursing care. Methods: Descriptive, qualitative research, analyzed regarding the phenomena of the Theory of Social Representations and content analysis technique proposed by Bardin, held from June 24 to July 31, 2015, with 22 patients diagnosed with cancer and under chemotherapy treatment. Results: After analysis of the collected material were consolidated four thematic units, named: "Chemotherapy: the chance of cure", "Nursing care in chemotherapy", "The daily life of interpersonal relationships during chemotherapy treatment" and "The difficulties during the chemotherapy". Conclusion: Through research, you can see the importance of health education for the understanding of patients and their families about cancer and its treatment

On the reconstruction of concentration distributions form comparison of deterministic predictions to observational data

The dispersion of pollutants in the atmospheric boundary layer is a stochastic process but many approaches make use of deterministic models, such as the advection-diffusion equation, that determines average values. Comparison between observation and model prediction show a significant spread of values due to the stochastic character of the pollution dispersion phenomenon. Measured data though represent only one sample of an unknown distribution. Thus, the present article is a first attempt to reconstruct at least some of the pollutant concentration distribution properties from the comparison of deterministic predictions to observed concentrations under specific micro-meteorological conditions. The experimental data are the findings of the Copenhagen campaign. We show the scatter plot of observed versus predicted ground level concentrations from which distributional properties are extracted by determining the distance of each plot point from the bisector, proposing a parametrization for the probability function and fit the discrete set of data points. The probability density function obtainde from the probability distribution shows a narrow peak centered at zero besides a second smaller but displaced contribution. A reconstructed distribution symmetrically around zero signifies, that the model describes the average values of the distribution with fairly good fidelity and the width could be used as an approximation for the second statistical moment. The distribution which is not centered at the origin indicates either missing physics in the model, or failures in the measuring procedure. The reconstructed distribution with correlation less than one shows the aforementioned stochastic character of the phenomenon. Although applied to a specific experiment and using one deterministic model the reconstruction method is general and can be applied to other scenarios in an analogue fashion
