__________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in clinical practice and are characterized by the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in the upper or lower portion of the urinary system. Escherichia coli is the organism most commonly found in UTIs, and currently there are several classes of antimicrobial agents capable of inhibiting the growth and development of this bacteria. However, the indiscriminate use of these drugs contributed to the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains, which is becoming a major public health problem. This work aims to analyze the bacterial susceptibility profile of strains of Escherichia coli in an outpatient laboratory of Distrito Federal. It is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, by means of analysis of positive urine cultures of Escherichia coli from January 2013 to January 2015, considering the sex of the patients and the sensitivity profile of the studied specie. Were sent to the laboratory 6,894 samples, only 1,160 of these were positive and 612 were identified with the microorganism studied. Women representing 91% of affected patients by UTIs. To determine the sensitivity profile was used the minimum inhibitory concentration and it was detected that only third-generation cephalosporins and carbapenes showed sensitivity higher than 85%. The high rate of resistance and different resistance mechanisms contribute to the data, become increasingly the study and identification of such sensitivity profiles

This project is based on my own "apocalyptic imagination" to reflect what the world would be like without human beings and, at the same time, fantasizing about what an uninhabitable Earth would be like. Without them inhabiting the planet, how would other beings live? What would happen to nature if something devastating happened? Would he recover? With this image that I use as a guide to live, dialogue on how the human ambitious power has become God from his own environment by depriving other living creatures of their habitat to an apocalypse without return...El presente proyecto parte de mi propio “imaginar apocalíptico” para reflexionar cómo sería el mundo sin los seres humanos y, a la vez, fantaseando sobre cómo sería una Tierra inhabitable.

Identification of the Ideal Age to Begin Orthodontic Treatment in Patients with Occlusal Problems

    Get PDF
Nowadays, orthodontic treatment has become one of the favorites of aesthetics, although it provides benefits beyond planned. However, controversy has arisen as to the age at which orthodontic treatment should be started, that is, an ideal age, to avoid a second treatment due to various dental factors, Therefore, in this study, we investigated through a literature review about these factors that could affect the treatment, such as malocclusion and tooth movements and that could lead to the repetition of the same in the future,  and we also studied the impact (benefits and contraindications) that would cause its early application. Thus, concluding that there is no generalized ideal age, but rather that this will depend on the severity of the patient's occlusion (guided by the classification proposed by Angle), giving way to possible different ages depending on the particularity of the case

Association of Sexual Attitudes with Sexual Function: General vs. Specific Attitudes

    Get PDF
Sexual attitudes are related to the expression of sexuality and have been associated with indicators for sexual health. The main aim of this study was to determine the explanatory capacity of general (i.e., erotophilia) and specific (i.e., toward sexual fantasies and masturbation) sexual attitudes on different sexual functioning dimensions (sexual desire, sexual arousal, lubrication/erection, ability to have an orgasm and orgasm satisfaction). Methods: The sample consisted of 2000 heterosexual adults (1044 women, 956 men) aged 18–83 years. Results: The explanatory models for women mainly showed that positive attitudes toward sexual fantasies (β range = −0.35, −0.249) and age (β range = −0.111, 0.086) explained sexual function. The models proposed for men revealed a more diverse pattern, although the variable essential for explaining sexual function was a positive attitude toward sexual fantasies (β range = −0.266, −0.097). Conclusions: These results indicate that specific sexual attitudes, particularly in relation to sexual fantasies, are more sensitive variables than erotophilia in examining sexual health.Bursaries FPU 16/04429 and FPU18/03102 for University Professor Trainin

Genetic Variations of the DPYD Gene and Its Relationship with Ancestry Proportions in Different Ecuadorian Trihybrid Populations

Ecuadorian ethnic groups; Fluoropyrimidines; PharmacogeneticsEtnias ecuatorianas; Fluoropirimidinas; FarmacogenéticaÈtnies equatorianes; Fluoropirimidines; FarmacogenèticaDihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase is one of the main pharmacological metabolizers of fluoropyrimidines, a group of drugs widely used in clinical oncology. Around 20 to 30% of patients treated with fluoropyrimidines experience severe toxicity caused by a partial or total decrease in enzymatic activity. This decrease is due to molecular variants in the DPYD gene. Their prevalence and allelic frequencies vary considerably worldwide, so their description in heterogeneous groups such as the Ecuadorian population will allow for the description of pharmacogenetic variants and proper characterization of this population. Thus, we genotyped all the molecular variants with a predictive value for DPYD in a total of 410 Ecuadorian individuals belonging to Mestizo, Afro-Ecuadorian, and Indigenous ethnic groups. Moreover, we developed a genetic ancestry analysis using 46 autosomal ancestry informative markers. We determined 20 genetic variations in 5 amplified regions, including 3 novel single nucleotide variants. The allele frequencies for DPYD variants c.1627G>A (*5, rs1801159), c.1129-15T>C (rs56293913), c.1218G>A (rs61622928), rs1337752, rs141050810, rs2786783, rs2811178, and g.97450142G>A (chr1, GRCh38.p13) are significantly related to Native American and African ancestry proportions. In addition, the FST calculated from these variants demonstrates the closeness between Indigenous and Mestizo populations, and evidences genetic divergence between Afro-Ecuadorian groups when compared with Mestizo and Indigenous ethnic groups. In conclusion, the genetic variability in the DPYD gene is related to the genetic component of ancestral populations in different Ecuadorian ethnic groups. The absence and low frequency of variants with predictive value for fluoropyrimidine toxicity such as DPYD *2A, HapB3, and c.2846A>T (prevalent in populations with European ancestry) is consistent with the genetic background found. This work was supported by Universidad de Las Américas (Quito, Ecuador), grant number ENF.RCA.19.01

The purpose of the current graduation work was to develop a mobile web application for AL SAFI El Paraíso hotel located in Ambato, in order to improve the management of booking services, lodging control and commands which will be done in a manual way. To identify the main problem, it was necessary to use techniques like interview and observation applied to each one of the principal processes such as manager, hosts, and employees of the hotel, this will allow collecting the functional requirements of the product. To provide an appropriate follow up to the project, SCRUM agile methodology was implemented, creating an effective and peaceful communication between the customer and developer, in addition it helps to accomplish the delivery terms. The encoding of the web system and the mobile application was done through the use of technologies like java programming language, JSF framework, Java Script, PHP, J Query mobile respectively and for the data storage, it was necessary to use PostgreSQL. To evaluate the quality of the software based on functionality, some metrics (safety and accuracy) were established; the ones that were based on ISO IEC 9126 3 norm. For this, a survey to 182 customers as well as an interview to 5 employees of the hotel were applied. The data obtained were evaluated with Chi squared statistical test resulting in the acceptance of the hypothesis. This is an alternative which state that the mobile web application reduces time when carrying out the booking services in the hotel, in this way it will improve the customer service. For a good use of the mobile web application, it is recommended to check the user´s manual and for its maintenance it is necessary to check the technical manual, electronic billing is also recommended

Aesthetics of Resistance in Western Sahara

In reaction to neo-liberal globalization policies that were spearheaded in the 1980s by Reagan-economics and Thatcherism, indignant movements ignited globally in distinct places, spaces, and territories, using diverse resistance strategies, both violent and nonviolent. Today, two years into the new social media revolutions, with the “Arab Spring” (in Tunisia known as Sidi Bouzid Revolt, in Libya as the Revolution of February 17th, and in Egypt as Revolution of January 25th), the “indignado/a” movement in Spain, and “Occupy Wall Street” in the United States, what does it mean to be “indignant”?Within an interdisciplinary Peace Studies and Research context, how do we begin to talk about and theorize this (inter)subjective move from being a “victim” to being “indignant?” And, how do we do so in a way that captures the complex and multi-layered dimensions of liberation struggles? We begin with a theoretical overview in order to frame the discussion. We then specifically examine the “Sahrawi Spring” in order to see theory in practice. As Africa’s last colony,Western Sahara provides an interesting look into the aesthetics of resistance
