El eros joyciano de Julián Ríos

Julián Ríos's literature is the most creative and ingenious expression of the Joycean Eros in Spanish literature. The Joycean Eros is defined, in general lines, by its relationship with human language and the languages ​​of the world, in all its promiscuous plurality, as well as by its verbal staging of the realities and misunderstandings of sex and the equivocal comedy of the genres. From Larva: A Midsummer Night's Babel (1983) to Puente de Alma (2009), Ríos' narrative assumes that verbal and carnal heritage of Joyce, appropriates it without cultural complexes, incorporates it fully into his vast literary project, without losing an apex of uniqueness and originality, thus making one of the great postmodern contributions to a literature like that of Spain so devoid of those aesthetic, intellectual and cultural qualities.La literatura de Julián Ríos es la más creativa e ingeniosa expresion del Eros joyciano en la literatura española. Lithography parametric yield estimation model to predict layout pattern distortions with a reduced set of lithography simulations

A lithography parametric yield estimation model is presented to evaluate the lithography distortion in a printed layout due to lithography hotspots. The aim of the proposed yield model is to provide a new metric that enables the possibility to objectively compare the lithography quality of different layout design implementations. Moreover, we propose a pattern construct classifier to reduce the set of lithography simulations necessary to estimate the litho degradation. The application of the yield model is demonstrated for different layout configurations showing that a certain degree of layout regularity improves the parametric yield and increases the number of good dies per wafer. Plasma homocysteine and vitamin B12 serum levels, red blood cell folate concentrations, C677T methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene mutation and risk of recurrent miscarriage: a case-control study in Spain.

Background: Hyperhomocysteinemia and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene mutation have been postulated as a possible cause of recurrent miscarriage (RM). There is a wide variation in the prevalence of MTHFR polymorphisms and homocysteine (Hcy) plasma levels among populations around the world. The present study was undertaken to investigate the possible association between hyperhomocysteinemia and its causative genetic or acquired factors and RM in Catalonia, a Mediterranean region in Spain. Methods: Sixty consecutive patients with ≥ 3 unexplained RM and 30 healthy control women having at least one child but no previous miscarriage were included. Plasma Hcy levels, MTHFR gene mutation, red blood cell (RBC) folate and vitamin B12 serum levels were measured in all subjects. Results: No significant differences were observed neither in plasma Hcy levels, RBC folate and vitamin B12 serum levels nor in the prevalence of homozygous and heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation between the two groups studied. Conclusions: In the present study RM is not associated with hyperhomocysteinemia, and/or the MTHFR gene mutation

AAV-mediated expression of secreted and transmembrane αKlotho isoforms rescues relevant aging hallmarks in senescent SAMP8 mice

Senescence represents a stage in life associated with elevated incidence of morbidity and increased risk of mortality due to the accumulation of molecular alterations and tissue dysfunction, promoting a decrease in the organism's protective systems. Thus, aging presents molecular and biological hallmarks, which include chronic inflammation, epigenetic alterations, neuronal dysfunction, and worsening of physical status. In this context, we explored the AAV9-mediated expression of the two main isoforms of the aging-protective factor Klotho (KL) as a strategy to prevent these general age-related features using the senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8) model. Both secreted and transmembrane KL isoforms improved cognitive performance, physical state parameters, and different molecular variables associated with aging. Epigenetic landscape was recovered for the analyzed global markers DNA methylation (5-mC), hydroxymethylation (5-hmC), and restoration occurred in the acetylation levels of H3 and H4. Gene expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators in central nervous system such as TNF-α and IL-10, respectively, had improved levels, which were comparable to the senescence-accelerated-mouse resistant 1 (SAMR1) healthy control. Additionally, this improvement in neuroinflammation was supported by changes in the histological markers Iba1, GFAP, and SA β-gal. Furthermore, bone tissue structural variables, especially altered during senescence, recovered in SAMP8 mice to SAMR1 control values after treatment with both KL isoforms. This work presents evidence of the beneficial pleiotropic role of Klotho as an anti-aging therapy as well as new specific functions of the KL isoforms for the epigenetic regulation and aged bone structure alteration in an aging mouse model
