Adolescent Weight Status and Related Behavioural Factors: Web Survey of Physical Activity and Nutrition
Purpose. To identify whether non-overweight students were different from their overweight or obese peers with respect to diet, suboptimal meal behaviours, and physical activity using a self-administered web-based survey. Methods. 4097 adolescents living in Alberta, Canada completed Web-SPAN (Web Survey of Physical Activity and Nutrition). Students were classified as overweight or obese, and differences were described in terms of nutrient intakes, physical activity, and meal behaviours. Results. Non-overweight students consumed significantly more carbohydrate and fibre, and significantly less fat and high calorie beverages, and had a higher frequency of consuming breakfast and snacks compared to overweight or obese students. Both non-overweight and overweight students were significantly more active than obese students. Conclusions. This research supports the need to target suboptimal behaviours such as high calorie beverage consumption, fat intake, breakfast skipping, and physical inactivity. School nutrition policies and mandatory physical education for all students may help to improve weight status in adolescents

The star formation history of the Sco-Cen association: Coherent star formation patterns in space and time
We reconstruct the star formation history of the Sco-Cen OB association using
a novel high-resolution age map of the region. We develop an approach to
produce robust ages for Sco-Cen's recently identified 37 stellar clusters using
the \texttt{SigMA} algorithm. The Sco-Cen star formation timeline reveals four
periods of enhanced star formation activity, or bursts, remarkably separated by
about 5 Myr. Of these, the second burst, which occurred 15 million years ago,
is by far the dominant, and most of Sco-Cen's stars and clusters were in place
by the end of this burst. The formation of stars and clusters in Sco-Cen is
correlated, but not linearly, meaning that more stars were formed per cluster
during the peak of star formation rate. Most of the clusters, which are large
enough to have supernova precursors, were formed during the 15 Myr period. Star
and cluster formation activity has been continuously declining since then. We
have clear evidence that Sco-Cen formed from the inside out and contains 100-pc
long correlated chains of contiguous clusters exhibiting well-defined age
gradients, from massive older clusters to smaller young clusters. These
observables suggest an important role for feedback in the formation of about
half of Sco-Cen stars, although follow-up work is needed to quantify this
statement. Finally, we confirm that the Upper-Sco age controversy discussed in
the literature during the last decades is solved: the region toward Upper-Sco,
a benchmark region for planet formation studies, contains not one but up to

Coronary CT Angiography and 5-Year Risk of Myocardial Infarction.
BACKGROUND: Although coronary computed tomographic angiography (CTA) improves diagnostic certainty in the assessment of patients with stable chest pain, its effect on 5-year clinical outcomes is unknown. METHODS: In an open-label, multicenter, parallel-group trial, we randomly assigned 4146 patients with stable chest pain who had been referred to a cardiology clinic for evaluation to standard care plus CTA (2073 patients) or to standard care alone (2073 patients). Investigations, treatments, and clinical outcomes were assessed over 3 to 7 years of follow-up. The primary end point was death from coronary heart disease or nonfatal myocardial infarction at 5 years. RESULTS: The median duration of follow-up was 4.8 years, which yielded 20,254 patient-years of follow-up. The 5-year rate of the primary end point was lower in the CTA group than in the standard-care group (2.3% [48 patients] vs. 3.9% [81 patients]; hazard ratio, 0.59; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.41 to 0.84; P=0.004). Although the rates of invasive coronary angiography and coronary revascularization were higher in the CTA group than in the standard-care group in the first few months of follow-up, overall rates were similar at 5 years: invasive coronary angiography was performed in 491 patients in the CTA group and in 502 patients in the standard-care group (hazard ratio, 1.00; 95% CI, 0.88 to 1.13), and coronary revascularization was performed in 279 patients in the CTA group and in 267 in the standard-care group (hazard ratio, 1.07; 95% CI, 0.91 to 1.27). However, more preventive therapies were initiated in patients in the CTA group (odds ratio, 1.40; 95% CI, 1.19 to 1.65), as were more antianginal therapies (odds ratio, 1.27; 95% CI, 1.05 to 1.54). There were no significant between-group differences in the rates of cardiovascular or noncardiovascular deaths or deaths from any cause. CONCLUSIONS: In this trial, the use of CTA in addition to standard care in patients with stable chest pain resulted in a significantly lower rate of death from coronary heart disease or nonfatal myocardial infarction at 5 years than standard care alone, without resulting in a significantly higher rate of coronary angiography or coronary revascularization. A VLBI receiving system for the South Pole Telescope
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is a very-long-baseline interferometry
(VLBI) experiment that aims to observe supermassive black holes with an angular
resolution that is comparable to the event horizon scale. The South Pole
occupies an important position in the array, greatly increasing its north-south
extent and therefore its resolution.
The South Pole Telescope (SPT) is a 10-meter diameter, millimeter-wavelength
telescope equipped for bolometric observations of the cosmic microwave
background. To enable VLBI observations with the SPT we have constructed a
coherent signal chain suitable for the South Pole environment. The
dual-frequency receiver incorporates state-of-the-art SIS mixers and is
installed in the SPT receiver cabin. The VLBI signal chain also includes a
recording system and reference frequency generator tied to a hydrogen maser.
Here we describe the SPT VLBI system design in detail and present both the lab

International meta-analysis of PTSD genome-wide association studies identifies sex- and ancestry-specific genetic risk loci.
The risk of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following trauma is heritable, but robust common variants have yet to be identified. In a multi-ethnic cohort including over 30,000 PTSD cases and 170,000 controls we conduct a genome-wide association study of PTSD. We demonstrate SNP-based heritability estimates of 5-20%, varying by sex. Three genome-wide significant loci are identified, 2 in European and 1 in African-ancestry analyses. Analyses stratified by sex implicate 3 additional loci in men. Along with other novel genes and non-coding RNAs, a Parkinson's disease gene involved in dopamine regulation, PARK2, is associated with PTSD. Finally, we demonstrate that polygenic risk for PTSD is significantly predictive of re-experiencing symptoms in the Million Veteran Program dataset, although specific loci did not replicate. These results demonstrate the role of genetic variation in the biology of risk for PTSD and highlight the necessity of conducting sex-stratified analyses and expanding GWAS beyond European ancestry populations
