Jerónimo Martins is an international Portuguese based Group in the food retail business, primarily engaged in food distribution, with over 225 years of existence and a leading position in the Polish market. As a finance enthusiast, my motivations on choosing this company are related to JMT being an iconic Portuguese Group for many years, with a strong legacy and history, and due to my wish for valuing a PSI20 company. This report begins with a business description to present the company, analyse its segments and strategies, and provide a brief history. Moreover, the governance is described including an ESG section describing the company’s increasing given importance in this area. In addition, an Industry overview of the Food Retail & Distribution Industry, including Industry analysis, trends, economic outlooks, demand and supply and drivers of revenues and costs. Also, the competitive positioning was analysed with a SWOT analysis, PESTEL and porter´s 5 forces To perform a valuation on JMT, both absolute and relative valuation methods were considered. According to Free Cash Flow to the Firm (FCFF) method, the price target for 2020YE is €20.86 meaning an upside potential of 16% against the closing price on September 8, 2021. To support the valuation, other methods were used such as the Free Cash Flow to Equity (FCFE), Adjusted Present Value (APV), Dividend Discount Model (DDM) and Relative valuation with multiples from the selected peer group. Finally, the risks to the price target were assessed through a risk matrix, scenario analysis for changes in growth rates of revenues, sensitivity analysis to the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) and the terminal growth rate (g) and lastly, a Monte Carlo simulation using the Oracle Crystal Ball add-in. Este relatório inicia-se com uma descrição do negócio e apresentação do grupo, também uma análise aos segmentos e estratégias e uma breve história do grupo. Seguidamente, a gestão do grupo é descrita incluindo uma secção dedicada a ESG. Posteriormente, uma análise da indústria do retalho e distribuição alimentar, incluindo tendências, cenários económicos, procura e oferta, custos e receitas. Adicionalmente, a posição competitiva da indústria é analisada através recorrendo à análise SWOT, Pestel e 5 forças de Porter. De forma a proceder à avaliação, foram utilizados métodos de avaliação de empresas absolutos e relativos. Segundo o Free Cash Flow to the Firm, o preço alvo estimado para o final do ano de 2021 foi de €20.86 representando um potencial de 16% relativamente ao preço de fecho do dia 8 de Setembro de 2021. Para suportar a avaliação, outros métodos fora usados tais como o Free Cash Flow to Equity (FCFE), Adjusted Present Value (APV), Dividend Discount Model (DDM) e a avaliação relativa com a utilização de múltiplos calculados através do grupo de empresas comparáveis. Por fim, os riscos associados ao preço alvo foram analisados através de uma matriz de risco, criação de cenários para as taxas de crescimento das receitas, análises de sensibilidade para a taxa de custo de capital médio ponderado (WACC) e a taxa de crescimento de longo-prazo (g) e por último, uma simulação Monte Carlo usando o add-in Oracle Crystal Ball. The portrait of the portuguese media of the portuguese foreign fighters on ISIS

The phenomenon of terrorism encompasses the international system, not only in terms of terrorist attacks, but also in terms of foreign fighters who were increasingly common in the ranks of the so-called Islamic State, mainly from Europe. This phenomenon has been studied abroad, but specifically, in the Portuguese case, there is not much academic literature. Therefore, in this thesis, I focus on the Portuguese foreign fighters who joined the Islamic State, studying the role of the media in portraying their radicalization, recruitment, and their potential return. The research is informed by the theoretical and methodological principles of Critical Terrorism Studies and it comprised a thematic analysis of news articles from two Portuguese newspapers – Público and Diário de Notícias. The analysis reflects that the portrait of the media is important to build a certain social reality and to build knowledge, that is completed with the Critical Terrorism Studies and, that the media reflect the three major processes that a foreign fighter goes through, which is the recruitment, the radicalization, and their potential return. Also, it shows the important findings of this research, that the media helps constructing the knowledge regarding the Portuguese terrorism, and on this specific case, the Portuguese Foreign Fighters phenomenon.O fenómeno do terrorismo é algo que abrange o sistema internacional, não só em termos de ataques terroristas, mas também em termos dos combatentes estrangeiros que são cada vez mais comuns nas fileiras do Estado Islâmico, principalmente vindos da Europa. Este fenómeno tem sido muito estudado no estrangeiro, mas em relação ao caso específico português existe muito pouca informação. Por isto, nesta tese, decidi focar-me nos combatentes portugueses que decidiram ir para o Estado Islâmico, mas focando-me no papel dos media ao retratá-los nos seus respetivos jornais. A investigação foi feita através de uma análise temática e de acordo com o Critical Terrorism Studies e a influência dos Media. A análise reflete que o retrato dos media é importante para construir a realidade social e para a construção do conhecimento, podendo ser um completo aos Critical Terrorism Studies e que os media refletem os três maiores processos que um combatente estrangeiro passa, que é o recrutamento, radicalização e o potencial retorno. Ademais, demonstra, através da análise, os resultados desta investigação, que os media contribuem para a construção de conhecimento sobre o fenómeno do terrorismo e, neste caso específico, sobre os Portugueses combatentes no ISIS

Giant FAZ10 is required for flagellum attachment zone stabilization and furrow positioning in Trypanosoma brucei

The flagellum and flagellum attachment zone (FAZ) are important cytoskeletal structures in trypanosomatids, being required for motility, cell division and cell morphogenesis. Trypanosomatid cytoskeletons contain abundant high molecular mass proteins (HMMPs), but many of their biological functions are still unclear. Here, we report the characterization of the giant FAZ protein, FAZ10, in Trypanosoma brucei, which, using immunoelectron microscopy, we show localizes to the intermembrane staples in the FAZ intracellular domain. Our data show that FAZ10 is a giant cytoskeletal protein essential for normal growth and morphology in both procyclic and bloodstream parasite life cycle stages, with its depletion leading to defects in cell morphogenesis, flagellum attachment, and kinetoplast and nucleus positioning. We show that the flagellum attachment defects are probably brought about by reduced tethering of the proximal domain of the paraflagellar rod to the FAZ filament. Further, FAZ10 depletion also reduces abundance of FAZ flagellum domain protein, ClpGM6. Moreover, ablation of FAZ10 impaired the timing and placement of the cleavage furrow during cytokinesis, resulting in premature or asymmetrical cell division

The impact of software as a service in software piracy : has the change in the distribution and sale of software provided not only an accurate answer against software piracy but also an increase in consumer-value?

This dissertation aims to answer the question “Has the change in the distribution and sale of software provided not only an accurate answer against software piracy but also an increase in consumer-value?” and it supports its argument not only on the current literature available on the software industry and on software piracy but also on the personal research carried out through an extensive survey of different people in different age groups and from different countries. To aid the analysis, strategic frameworks such as PEST and Five Forces of Porter were used, giving the reader a special landscape view of the industry’s characteristics to better understand how the changes in software distribution will impact consumer demand and satisfaction. It is important to note also that, during the literature review stage, it was understood that authors disagree on several important issues regarding software such as its classification, its origin and whether or not it constitutes patentable subject matter. This particular path led me to question the actions of software companies and whether there was a need or not to patent software. Through this road, I was led to the issue of piracy and to the action that companies have taken with changing the way software was produced and sold to better fit the current landscape of the industry

Son más frecuentes en estómago y en intestino delgado, pero también pueden comprometer esófago, colon, recto y ano. Han sido encontrados, además, en mesenterio, retroperitoneo, omento y tejidos blandos (EGIST-Tumor estromal extragastrointestinal). Martín los reconoció como entidad clínico -patológica y Stout los denominó Leinomioblastomas. Mazur y Clark acuñaron el término tumor estromal gastrointesitnal y sugierieron que podían originarse del sistema nervioso mioentérico. Hubo, además, algunos casos con evidencias de diferenciación neural, y fue introducido el término 'Tumor autonómico gastrointestinal' (GANT). Kindblom y col., sugirieron que esta neoplasias presentan un inmunofenotipo similar a células inte5rsticiales de Cajal (Células marcapsos del tracto gastrointestinal). Os usos do perfil – formas de ensino e práticas da diferença em escolas de teatro musical

Este artigo descreve aulas de “audição” de duas escolas de teatro musical – uma em São Paulo e outra em Nova York. O texto pretende, de um lado, adensar a discussão sobre um ambiente pedagógico ainda pouco explorado pela literatura da antropologia da educação: as escolas de teatro. E, de outro, analisar as práticas de ensino adotadas. Para isso, persigo os usos da categoria “perfil” nas salas de aula e nas falas de docentes e de estudantes. Tal categoria, fundamental no vocabulário desses ambientes, confere acesso para discutir sistemas de classificação que hierarquizam corpos e atualizam normativas de gênero, sexualidade e raça no cotidiano pedagógico. Com base em pesquisa de campo e em entrevistas, procurei responder as seguintes perguntas: como se aprende o “perfil”? Como essa convenção produz diferenças e desigualdades nos corpos de estudantes

Emoções em disputa: Usos do “amor” em manifestações

O artigo pretende discutir os significados que o termo “amor” assumiu em duas circunstâncias de ação coletiva: as manifestações denominadas “mais amor em SP”, ocorridas em 2012, ano eleitoral na capital do estado de São Paulo; e a hashtag #LoveWins, iniciada em 26 de junho de 2015, após a Suprema Corte dos Estados Unidos aprovar a união civil entre pessoas do mesmo sexo. A questão que o trabalho procura responder é: como e por que o “amor” foi acionado nos debates políticos em questão? Ao que tudo indica, a aposta residiu justamente na capacidade de transcendência da emoção – ela superaria oposições (partidárias e sexuais). Ao valer-se de discursos com retórica emotiva, sujeitos produziram um argumento difícil de ser contestado, mobilizando um instrumento discursivo supostamente universal.The text intends to discuss the meanings “love” was used in two circumstances: the demonstrations called “More Love in SP”, that took place during 2012, an election year in the capital of São Paulo, Brazil; and the hashtag #LoveWins on June 26, 2015 after the Supreme Court of the United States approved civil union between same sex couples. The main question is: how and why was “love” used in political debates? Apparently, the intention resided precisely in the capacity for transcendence of the term “love”, it could overcome partisan and sexual opposition. Edited stories: a study on the use of clipping as documental material

This article analyzes the clipping that Os Satyros Theater Company presents on its theater. The objective is to investigate how this group created its history through the selection of press media publication. It aims to contribute to the historiography of the Brazilian theater to analyzes how certain narratives became “official” and were incorporated by theater professionals (companies, directors, actors and actresses etc.).The methodology highlights the importance of contrasting sources and documents in order to understand how historical narratives are created by theater professionals. Este artigo analisa o clipping da Cia. de Teatro Os Satyros presente em sua sede. Seu objetivo é investigar como o grupo criou uma história de si utilizando-se da seleção e edição do material publicado pela imprensa. Pretende-se contribuir para uma historiografia do teatro brasileiro analisando narrativas que se tornaram “oficiais” e naturalizadas por profissionais de teatro – grupos, diretores(as), atores e atrizes etc. A metodologia está baseada no contraste de fontes e documentos a fim de compreender como narrativas históricas são criadas pelos próprios agentes.
