The study is devoted to the spatial development of Siberia and the Far East of Russia. The role of federal districts as established macro-regions is considered - in optimizing territorial planning and correction of subjects of interregional management, and isolating project federal territories on their basis - as objects of sustainable-safe spatial development. The main focus is on the formation of a promising spatial (infrastructure) framework for the development of macroregions, including the identification of advanced growth nodes (the so-called “second” and “third” cities of macroregional subjects) and the links between them (transport axes and corridors) that are significant in the global economic context. The findings of the study can be used both in strategic planning at the level of federal districts and in further research at the national and interregional levels.

Aims The objective of the Aliskiren Trial on Acute Heart Failure Outcomes (ASTRONAUT) was to determine whether aliskiren, a direct renin inhibitor, would improve post-discharge outcomes in patients with hospitalization for heart failure (HHF) with reduced ejection fraction. Pre-specified subgroup analyses suggested potential heterogeneity in post-discharge outcomes with aliskiren in patients with and without baseline diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods and results ASTRONAUT included 953 patients without DM (aliskiren 489; placebo 464) and 662 patients with DM (aliskiren 319; placebo 343) (as reported by study investigators). Study endpoints included the first occurrence of cardiovascular death or HHF within 6 and 12 months, all-cause death within 6 and 12 months, and change from baseline in N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) at 1, 6, and 12 months. Data regarding risk of hyperkalaemia, renal impairment, and hypotension, and changes in additional serum biomarkers were collected. The effect of aliskiren on cardiovascular death or HHF within 6 months (primary endpoint) did not significantly differ by baseline DM status (P = 0.08 for interaction), but reached statistical significance at 12 months (non-DM: HR: 0.80, 95% CI: 0.64-0.99; DM: HR: 1.16, 95% CI: 0.91-1.47; P = 0.03 for interaction). Risk of 12-month all-cause death with aliskiren significantly differed by the presence of baseline DM (non-DM: HR: 0.69, 95% CI: 0.50-0.94; DM: HR: 1.64, 95% CI: 1.15-2.33; P < 0.01 for interaction). Among non-diabetics, aliskiren significantly reduced NT-proBNP through 6 months and plasma troponin I and aldosterone through 12 months, as compared to placebo. Among diabetic patients, aliskiren reduced plasma troponin I and aldosterone relative to placebo through 1 month only. There was a trend towards differing risk of post-baseline potassium ≥6 mmol/L with aliskiren by underlying DM status (non-DM: HR: 1.17, 95% CI: 0.71-1.93; DM: HR: 2.39, 95% CI: 1.30-4.42; P = 0.07 for interaction). Conclusion This pre-specified subgroup analysis from the ASTRONAUT trial generates the hypothesis that the addition of aliskiren to standard HHF therapy in non-diabetic patients is generally well-tolerated and improves post-discharge outcomes and biomarker profiles. In contrast, diabetic patients receiving aliskiren appear to have worse post-discharge outcomes. Future prospective investigations are needed to confirm potential benefits of renin inhibition in a large cohort of HHF patients without D

Measuring Diachronic Evolution of Evaluative Adjectives with Word Embeddings: the Case for English, Norwegian, and Russian

    No full text
We measure the intensity of diachronic semantic shifts in adjectives in English, Norwegian and Russian across 5 decades. This is done in order to test the hypothesis that evaluative adjectives are more prone to temporal semantic change. To this end, 6 different methods of quantifying semantic change are used. Frequency-controlled experimental results show that, depending on the particular method, evaluative adjectives either do not differ from other types of adjectives in terms of semantic change or appear to actually be less prone to shifting (particularly, to ‘jitter’-type shifting). Thus, in spite of many well-known examples of semantically changing evaluative adjectives (like ‘terrific’ or ‘incredible’), it seems that such cases are not specific to this particular type of words

Influence of the luxR Regulatory Gene Dosage and Expression Level on the Sensitivity of the Whole-Cell Biosensor to Acyl-Homoserine Lactone

Aliivibrio fischeri LuxR and Aliivibrio logei LuxR1 and LuxR2 regulatory proteins are quorum sensing transcriptional (QS) activators, inducing promoters of luxICDABEG genes in the presence of an autoinducer (3-oxo-hexanoyl-l-homoserine lactone). In the Aliivibrio cells, luxR genes are regulated by HNS, CRP, LitR, etc. Here we investigated the role of the luxR expression level in LuxI/R QS system functionality and improved the whole-cell biosensor for autoinducer detection. Escherichia coli-based bacterial lux-biosensors were used, in which Photorhabdus luminescensluxCDABE genes were controlled by LuxR-dependent promoters and luxR, luxR1, or luxR2 regulatory genes. We varied either the dosage of the regulatory gene in the cells using additional plasmids, or the level of the regulatory gene expression using the lactose operon promoter. It was shown that an increase in expression level, as well as dosage of the regulatory gene in biosensor cells, leads to an increase in sensitivity (the threshold concentration of AI is reduced by one order of magnitude) and to a two to threefold reduction in response time. The best parameters were obtained for a biosensor with an increased dosage of luxRA. fischeri (sensitivity to 3-oxo-hexanoyl-l-homoserine lactone reached 30–100 pM)

Measurements of ttˉt\bar{t} differential cross-sections of highly boosted top quarks decaying to all-hadronic final states in pppp collisions at s=13\sqrt{s}=13\, TeV using the ATLAS detector

    No full text
Measurements are made of differential cross-sections of highly boosted pair-produced top quarks as a function of top-quark and ttˉt\bar{t} system kinematic observables using proton--proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=13\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 36.136.1 fb1^{-1}, recorded in 2015 and 2016 with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Events with two large-radius jets in the final state, one with transverse momentum pT>500p_{\rm T} > 500 GeV and a second with pT>350p_{\rm T}>350 GeV, are used for the measurement. The top-quark candidates are separated from the multijet background using jet substructure information and association with a bb-tagged jet. The measured spectra are corrected for detector effects to a particle-level fiducial phase space and a parton-level limited phase space, and are compared to several Monte Carlo simulations by means of calculated χ2\chi^2 values. The cross-section for ttˉt\bar{t} production in the fiducial phase-space region is 292±7 (stat)±76(syst)292 \pm 7 \ \rm{(stat)} \pm 76 \rm{(syst)} fb, to be compared to the theoretical prediction of 384±36384 \pm 36 fb
