Traditionally, studies of migration and their eventual impact in the territory have been limited to a shallow geographic analysis based on the rigid framework of pull and push models. The use of concepts such as social networks and migration changes have contributed to a certain theoretical and methodological renovation adding some dynamism in the ways these social phenomena are studied, and allowing the inclusion of certain variables such as spatial production and identity processes. This paper analyzes the migration flows towards the Colona de Puiggari (between Rios-Argentina) from a cultural geography perspective. It analyzes first the development of the first migrations of German Russians and the later arrival of the Adventists, and second the impact of these waves of migration in the creation of space with its own identity and cultural practices.
Belgrano square like spatial scenary. A cultural approach from the territory
Located from a cultural geographical perspective supported by the trialectic analysis of space (Soja, 1996), we understand the spatial scenary as "multiple condensed expressions of time and space" (Lindón, 2010: 183) which are reflected in the city landscape; in this case, in a square into the historic center of Luján. The paper explores the processes of social production of space in the Belgrano Square as a socially constructed scenary, inquiring into the socio-spatial dynamics that were externalizing over time. Methodologically, the analysis combines experiential fieldwork, interviews and interpretation of various historical sources (primary and secondary) including photographs, historical maps, documents, letters and reports, among others.Fil: Flores, Fabian Claudio. A Holling-Tanner predator-prey model with strong Allee effect
We analyse a modified Holling-Tanner predator-prey model where the predation
functional response is of Holling type II and we incorporate a strong Allee
effect associated with the prey species production. The analysis complements
results of previous articles by Saez and Gonzalez-Olivares (SIAM J. Appl. Math.
59 1867-1878, 1999) and Arancibia-Ibarra and Gonzalez-Olivares (Proc. CMMSE
2015 130-141, 2015)discussing Holling-Tanner models which incorporate a weak
Allee effect. The extended model exhibits rich dynamics and we prove the
existence of separatrices in the phase plane separating basins of attraction
related to co-existence and extinction of the species. We also show the
existence of a homoclinic curve that degenerates to form a limit cycle and
discuss numerous potential bifurcations such as saddle-node, Hopf, and
Bogadonov-Takens bifurcations
Modelling and analysis of a modified May-Holling-Tanner predator-prey model with Allee effect in the prey and an alternative food source for the predator
In the present study, we have modified the traditional May-Holling-Tanner
predator-prey model used to represent the interaction between least weasel and
field-vole population by adding an Allee effect (strong and weak) on the
field-vole population and alternative food source for the weasel population. It
is shown that the dynamic is different from the original May-Holling-Tanner
predator-prey interaction since new equilibrium points have appeared in the
first quadrant. Moreover, the modified model allows the extinction of both
species when the Allee effect (strong and weak) on the prey is included, while
the inclusion of the alternative food source for the predator shows that the
system can support the coexistence of the populations, extinction of the prey
and coexistence and oscillation of the populations at the same time.
Furthermore, we use numerical simulations to illustrate the impact that
changing the predation rate and the predator intrinsic growth rate have on the
basin of attraction of the stable equilibrium point or stable limit cycle in
the first quadrant. These simulations show the stabilisation of predator and
prey populations and/or the oscillation of these two species over time.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figure
Early menopause: A hazard to a woman's health
Early menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a common cause of infertility in women and affects about one per cent of young women. This disorder has significant psychological sequelae and major health implications. Its relevance has increased in recent years due to the fact that age of motherhood is being delayed in developed countries, with the risk of having either primary ovarian insufficiency or less possibilities of pregnancy. The main characteristics are absence of ovulation, amenorrhoea and high levels of serum gonadotropins (hypergonadotropic hypogonadism). Although the aetiology remains uncertain in most cases, several rare specific causes have been elucidated. Potential causes for POI are iatrogenic (ovarian surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy), environmental factors, viral infections, metabolic and autoimmune diseases, and genetic alterations. Because of the association with other autoimmune diseases, close follow up is recommended in patients with POI. The traditional indicators to evaluate ovarian ageing are age, serum hormonal levels, anti-Mullerian hormone, antral follicle count, and ultrasonography of ovaries. Hormone replacement therapy remains the mainstay of treatment, and the best chance of achieving a pregnancy is through oocyte donation. This article aims to present an overview of potential causes, clinical manifestations, and treatment options of POI

-- Palabras claves: Modelo de Cox, regresión splines, P-splines, LNH.-- In many clinical studies, Cox proportional hazard model is very common to use, it assumes
proportional hazard and restricts the log hazard ratio to be linear in the covariates; these
asumptions can not be verified. In this way, a nonlinear functional form of the covariates
effect can be approximated by a spline function. In this paper, we present the methodology
and an application of Cox model using splines, particularly regression splines and P-splines,
to approximate the nonlinear functional form of the effect of covariates on the hazard function. As an application, we analyse data from patients with NHL to determine prognostic
factors for overall survival. These results show that the effect of continuous covariates as:
hemoglobin, leukocytes, lymphocytes and LDH have a nonlinear form with the log hazard
ratio.
