Detecting and Correcting Conservativity Principle Violations in Ontology-to-Ontology Mappings
In order to enable interoperability between ontology-based systems, ontology matching techniques have been proposed. However, when the generated mappings suffer from logical flaws, their usefulness may be diminished. In this paper we present an approximate method to detect and correct violations to the so-called conservativity principle where novel subsumption entailments between named concepts in one of the input ontologies are considered as unwanted. We show that this is indeed the case in our application domain based on the EU Optique project. Additionally, our extensive evaluation conducted with both the Optique use case and the data sets from the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) suggests that our method is both useful and feasible in practice.Copyright 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland. A bicyclic α-iminophosphonate improves cognitive decline in 5xFAD murine model of neurodegeneration
I2 receptors (I2-IR) are widely distributed in the central nervous system. I2-IR ligands are associated with a neuroprotective effect but, as I2-IR structure remains unknown, the discovery of better and more selective ligands is necessary to understand the pharmacological and molecular implications of I2-IR. Recently, we described a new imidazoline-structure family which showed high affinity and selectivity for I2-IR. In vivo studies in mice indicated a neuroprotective role and revealed beneficial effects in behaviour and cognition with a murine model of neurodegeneration, senescence-accelerated prone mouse (SAMP8). Herein, we report a novel non-imidazoline-structure of bicyclic α-iminophosphonates family with high affinities for I2-IR. In vivo studies in 5X-FAD mice (a transgenic representative model of AD) and SAMP8 mice (a model of neurodegeneration linked to aging) showed an improvement in behaviour and cognition, a reduction of AD hallmarks and of neuroinflammation markers for the mice treated with the lead compound B06. After evaluating several pathways associated with neurodegeneration, we demonstrated that CaN pathway plays a critical role on the neuroprotective effects of I2-IR ligands on SAMP8 mice model. To rule out warnings of the novel family, we calculated DMPK and physicochemical properties for the novel bicyclic α-iminophosphonates. As well, we carried out drug metabolism, safety studies and in vivo pharmacokinetics for lead compound B06. In summary, we present a novel family of I2-IR ligands, its effectiveness in in vivo models and the possible neuroprotective molecular mechanism mediated by them. This highlights that the modulation of I2-IR by bicyclic α-iminophosphonates may open a new therapeutic venue for unmet neurodegenerative conditions
Family caregivers: what do they need? An integrative review
Abstract OBJECTIVE Aimed to identify the main needs expressed by family caregivers in caring for adependent person. METHOD An integrative review of the literature in the period between 2010 and 2015 using specific search engine tools in the EBSCO and SCOPUSdatabases. RESULTS 11 articles were selected, and the analysis of the scientific evidence obtained allowed for organizing the results into five thematic areas:transition into care, being responsible for everything, the importance of support, access to formal support, communication and informationprocesses. CONCLUSION The results showed that caregivers have many needs in different areas, which should be addressed in nursing interventions
Quotidian of accompanying family members in an environment of care: the emergence of hospital tribes
ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE Understand the quotidian relationships of accompanying family members in an environment of care, which are close to the metaphor of a tribe in hospital environment. METHODQualitative study with data gathered from semi-structured interviews and observations with 16 family members accompanying hospitalized individuals with dependence on self-care. Data were submitted to thematic analysis, and analyzed through the metaphor of "tribe" proposed by comprehensive sociology. RESULTS Family members build up social clusters around caring, where we find traits typical of tribes: emotional ambience; solidarity based on links of sympathy and mutual assistance; an affectual nebula in the process of interaction; a logic of fusion in tactile relations; and communion/religiosity in the process of connecting in a collective identity. CONCLUSION In the presence of tragedy, families build social clusters similar to tribes having care as a totem
Assessing positive mental health in people with chronic physical health problems: correlations with socio-demographic variables and physical health status
Background: A holistic perspective on health implies giving careful consideration to the relationship between physical and mental health. In this regard the present study sought to determine the level of Positive Mental Health (PMH) among people with chronic physical health problems, and to examine the relationship between the observed levels of PMH and both physical health status and socio-demographic variables. Methods: The study was based on the Multifactor Model of Positive Mental Health (Lluch, 1999), which comprises six factors: Personal Satisfaction (F1), Prosocial Attitude (F2), Self-control (F3), Autonomy (F4), Problem-solving and Self-actualization (F5), and Interpersonal Relationship Skills (F6). The sample comprised 259 adults with chronic physical health problems who were recruited through a primary care center in the province of Barcelona (Spain). Positive mental health was assessed by means of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire (Lluch, 1999). Results: Levels of PMH differed, either on the global scale or on specific factors, in relation to the following variables: age: global PMH scores decreased with age (r=-0.129; p=0.038); b) gender: men scored higher on F1 (t=2.203; p=0.028) and F4 (t=3.182; p=0.002), while women scored higher on F2 (t -3.086; p=0.002) and F6 (t=-2.744; p=0.007); c) number of health conditions: the fewer the number of health problems the higher the PMH score on F5 (r=-0.146; p=0.019); d) daily medication: polymedication patients had lower PMH scores, both globally and on various factors; e) use of analgesics: occasional use of painkillers was associated with higher PMH scores on F1 (t=-2.811; p=0.006). There were no significant differences in global PMH scores according to the type of chronic health condition. The only significant difference in the analysis by factors was that patients with hypertension obtained lower PMH scores on the factor Autonomy (t=2.165; p=0.032). Conclusions: Most people with chronic physical health problems have medium or high levels of PMH. The variables that adversely affect PMH are old age, polypharmacy and frequent consumption of analgesics. The type of health problem does not influence the levels of PMH. Much more extensive studies with samples without chronic pathology are now required in order to be able to draw more robust conclusions

Social and health care Nurses' Anxiety with the death: Data and meanings. Ansiedad ante la muerte en enfermeras de Atencion Sociosanitaria: Datos y significados
Introduction: the intense presence of the death at the social health environment can disturb the level of death anxiety in the professional, producing in him an emotional impact leading to repercussions on the care and on his life. The objectives of this research are to determine the level of anxiety before the death and to explore the triggers of fear and their meanings, in nurses of this area. Method: mixed quantitative / qualitative design. The study population was nurses from a social and health care centre in Tarragona, Spain. They answered the selected scales and were interviewed in depth. Quantitative analysis: measures of central tendency, dispersion and frequency tables (SPSS 15.0). The qualitative analysis follows the methodology of grounded theory. Results: the anxiety average score is 114.36 [SD (Standar Deviation) 15.35]. The highest values correspond to the proper dying process 30.09 (SD 3.96) and to the deaths of others 29.64 (SD 3.47). Nurses live the death of the other and think of his own, influenced by strong emotions that vary according to the 'acceptance' and to the process evolution. They recognize the fears unchained by the care, accompanied them and affected their lives. Conclusions: the Social and health care assistance receives high levels of death anxiety for nurses. The loss of loved people and the associated pain at the process of dying are the most anxiogenic situations. They identify clearly their fears, without moving away of the care and seeking psychoemotional support as a sign of professional identity. Partial results of this work were presented at XXVIII Mental Health Nursing National Congress. 1st International Mental Health Nursing Conference. Tarragona 2011
Diagnosed, identified, current and complete depression among patients attending Primary care in Southern Catalonia: different aspects of the same concept
10.1016/j.apnu.2013.10.002The aims of this study were to explore the prevalence and the conceptualizations of depression detected by the healthcare system, identified by the patient or classified/identified in the validated Goldberg's questionnaire in a community. We conducted a cross-sectional evaluation of 317 patients. The different types of depression diagnosed, identified, current or total were stratified by age and gender groups. The difference in the conceptualization of depression from the medical or ordinary people point of view indicate that depression care requires the understanding of the lifestyle, beliefs, attitudes, family and social networks of the people the physicians and nurses care for

Reliability and validity of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire in a sample of Spanish university students
WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: In general, the current studies of positive mental health use questionnaires or parts thereof. However, while these questionnaires evaluate aspects of positive mental health, they fail to measure the construct itself. WHAT DOES THIS PAPER ADD TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: The widespread use and the lack of specific questionnaires for evaluating the positive mental health construct justify the need to measure the robustness of the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire. Also six factors are proposed to measure positive mental health. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE?: The availability of a good questionnaire to measure positive mental health in university students is useful not only to promote mental health but also to strengthen the curricula of future professionals.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
