    Assessment in Bologna context from the teaching perspective, similarities and differences between disciplines

    In higher education, assessment is especially significant due to the high level of autonomy and self-regulation that is assumed in the students at this stage. While there is a bulk of research on which assessment evidences are used in higher education, research on how university professors design these evidences is lacking. Using a mixed method technique, we analyzed the assessment methodologies used in three different degrees (Mathematics, Medicine and Sport Sciences), and the design process followed by the teachers in each degree. We found important differences in the assessment methodologies used and the approaches to the assessment design in the degrees. This study shows the way in which teachers of different degrees modified their assessment methods during the Bologna process, as well as the factors that influenced them throughout the process

    The NADPH-Dependent thioredoxin reductase C-2-Cys peroxiredoxin redox system modulates the activity of thioredoxin x in arabidopsis chloroplasts

    The chloroplast redox network is composed of a complex set of thioredoxins (Trxs), reduced by ferredoxin (Fdx) via a Fdx-dependent Trx reductase (FTR), and an NADPH-dependent Trx reductase with a joint Trx domain, NTRC, which efficiently reduces 2-Cys peroxiredoxins (2-Cys Prxs). Recently, it was proposed that the redox balance of 2-Cys Prxs maintains the redox state of f-type Trxs, thus allowing the proper redox regulation of Calvin-Benson cycle enzymes such as fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase). Here, we have addressed whether the action of 2-Cys Prxs is also exerted on Trx x. To that end, an Arabidopsis thaliana quadruple mutant, ntrc-trxx-δ "2cp, which is knocked out for NTRC and Trx x, and contains severely decreased levels of 2-Cys Prxs, was generated. In contrast to ntrc-trxx, which showed a severe growth inhibition phenotype and poor photosynthetic performance, the ntrc-trxx-δ "2cp mutant showed a significant recovery of growth rate and photosynthetic efficiency, indicating that the content of 2-Cys Prxs is critical for the performance of plants lacking both NTRC and Trx x. Light-dependent reduction of FBPase was severely impaired in mutant plants lacking NTRC or NTRC plus Trx x, despite the fact that neither NTRC nor Trx x is an effective reductant of this enzyme. However, FBPase reduction was recovered in the ntrc-trxx-δ "2cp mutant. Our results show that the redox balance of 2-Cys Prxs, which is mostly dependent on NTRC, modulates the activity of Trx x in a similar way as f-type Trxs, thus suggesting that the activity of these Trxs is highly interconnected.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad BIO2017-85195-C2-1-

    Design of materials and educational resources adapted to ETCS: project of application of the new technologies to teaching of History of the Spanish Language and its varieties

    The adaptation to the new European Higher Education Area favors the assumption of the new technologies as one of the means that improve the quality of education and the process of student’s learning. The best assimilation of the theoretical and practical contents of the different subjects and the stimulus that the use of these resources for the independent learning of the student supposes, justify the attention lent to the formal aspects of the educational methodology, and to its consequent didactic process. The project that we presented finds its justification in the measures that the University of Cadiz has started up in the occasion of the process of European Convergence, and that are materialized, in this case, in the Call of Educative Innovation of the educational and investigating personnel of the European Project. Our work assumes as main target the optimization of the educational resources, from the possibilities that offer new technical means, with the creation of educational, audio-visual and computerized material, adapted to the contents of the implied subjects, and with a joint work of the teaching staff who allows the creation of a repository of computerized material that has stable character and that can be taken advantage of by the group in its later educational work.     Retail competition with switching consumers in electricity markets

    The ongoing transformations of power systems worldwide pose important challenges,both economic and technical, for their appropriate planning and operation. A key approach to improve the efficiency of these systems is through demand-side management, i.e., to promote the active involvement of consumers in the system. In particular, the current trend it to conceive systems where electricity consumers can vary their load according to real-time price incentives, offered by retailing companies.Under this setting, retail competition plays an important role as inadequate prices orservices may entail consumers switching to a rival retailer. In this work we consider a game theoretical model where asymmetric retailers compete in prices to increase their profits by accounting for the utility function of consumers. Consumer preferences for retailers are uncertain and distributed within a Hotelling line. We analytically characterize the equilibrium of a retailer duopoly, establishing its existence and uniqueness conditions. Furthermore, sensitivities of the equilibrium prices with respect to relevant model parameters are also provided. The duopoly model is extended to a multiple retailer case for which we perform an empirical analysis via numerical simulations. Results indicate that, depending on the retailer costs, loyalty rewards and initial market shares, the resulting equilibrium can range from complete competition to one in which a retailer have a leading or even a dominant position in the market, decreasing the consumers' utility significantly.     Spanish university assessment practices: examination tradition with diversity by faculty.

    Classroom assessment is crucial to understand how students approach course materials, even more in a competitive environment such as the one in higher education. Our aim was to explore the current situation of assessment in higher education to consider further institutional and training actions. Every syllabus from all public universities in Spain was entered into a database, from which 1,693 syllabi were selected completely at random for a content analysis. It was found that (1) university teachers use a greater variety and number of assessment instruments than did their counterparts of decades ago, (2) final exam score is still the highest-weighted source of information for the final grade, (3) the cluster of assessment practices show that traditional approaches are still the most prevalent ones, (4) formal peer and self-assessment practices are still extremely rare in the classroom, (5) assessment practices barely change between first- and fourth-year courses, and (6) most variations in assessment are explained by differences on faculty/academic divisions.     LGBTIQ+, conspiracy theories and narratives of support and hate online: from streets to screens

    This paper was presented at the International Conference "Genders, Sexualities and Diversities" (Universidad de Huelva, April 19, 2023). In this communication, we explore, through different case studies, how sometimes LGBTIQ+ people are supported in the contexts of various events, demonstrations, or mobilizations in the streets (as is the case of International LGBT+ Pride Day or Women's International Day). Other times LGBTIQ+ people are recipients of online hate speech or different conspiracy theories in other scenarios, for example, in films, series, videogames, etc. It is possible to find online narratives about LGBTIQ+ people in different social networks that go from the more positive pole (support, solidarity, or even outrage when LGTBI people are rejected or recipients of hate crime) to the more negative one (disseminating hate, fake news or conspiracy theories). These narratives take place in different contexts: from street to screens.     ¡No hay miedo ni prejuicio que dobleguen mi corazón! : el proyecto musical de La Nueva Invasión en el contexto limeño actual

    Hoy, ocho años después de su primer concierto, La Nueva Invasión se viene consolidando como uno de los principales referentes de la escena capitalina. Dentro de ella han transitado por numerosos escenarios, pero llegar hasta aquí no ha sido casualidad; así pues, es un camino iniciado antes del primer ensayo. Entre los primeros integrantes, asimismo los que se suman los siguientes años, confluyen distintos estilos musicales y experiencias desde las que se han aproximado a su práctica, en ese sentido, estas situaciones posibilitaron la reunión de estos intérpretes. Sin embargo, el trabajo no acabo al agruparse, por el contrario, recién comenzaba. Igualmente, en Lima, las historias de los artistas de cumbia y rock, siendo los principales asociados a la banda estudiada, han tenido diferentes procesos en los contextos desarrollados y ellos pueden configurar lo que son las carreras de sus sucesores. Para la presente investigación nos guiamos de la siguiente pregunta: ¿Cómo se lleva a cabo el proyecto musical de La Nueva Invasión en el contexto limeño actual? La información se ha recogido desde tres técnicas fundamentales: el análisis de texto, en primer lugar, permitió conocer mejor la situación anterior de los músicos de los estilos mencionados en la capital peruana y un acercamiento inicial al conjunto estudiado; en uno y otro material se privilegia el testimonio de sus propios protagonistas, en este caso se trata de textos o vídeos. Del mismo modo, se realizaron observaciones en los ensayos y conciertos; pues, en uno se elabora la propuesta y en la siguiente es donde ésta adquiere su nivel de significación, de acuerdo a la particularidad de los distintos eventos. Finalmente, se entrevistó a los actores que formaron parte de estos momentos con particular énfasis en las historias de vida de los integrantes, complementándolo con las valoraciones de los organizadores de conciertos y seguidores. A pesar de haber performado fuera de Lima, centramos la presente tesis en esta última ciudad, debido a que es aquí donde comenzaron y han registrado una mayor variedad de escenarios.Tesi

    Comparison of physical activity estimates using International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and accelerometry in fibromyalgia patients: the Al-Andalus study

    Abstract The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) has been widely used to assess physical activity in healthy 10 populations. The present study compared physical activity assessed by the long, self-administrated version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire with physical activity assessed by accelerometry in patients with fibromyalgia. A total of 99 (five men) participants with fibromyalgia completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and wore an accelerometer for nine consecutive days. We analysed the correlations of physical activity expressed as min · day−1 of light, moderate, vigorous, and moderate to vigorous (MVPA) intensity, as well as time spent sitting, by the International 15 Physical Activity Questionnaire and accelerometry by Spearman correlations. Bland and Altman plots were performed to verify the agreements between both instruments. The results showed weak yet significant correlations (Rs = 0.15–0.39, all P < 0.05) in all physical activity intensities between the two instruments, except for sedentary time. The highest correlations were observed for physical activity at home or in garden (Rs = 0.297, P < 0.01). The results suggest that the long selfadministrated International Physical Activity Questionnaire is a questionable instrument to assess physical activity in 20 patients with fibromyalgia. Therefore, physical activity measurement in fibromyalgia patients should not be limited solely to self-reported measures
