Characterization and evolution of the sediments of a Mediterranean coastal lagoon located next to a former mining area
Coastal lagoons are ecosystems that are relatively enclosed water bodies under the influence of both the terrestrial and themarine environment, being vulnerable to human impacts. Human activities, such asmining extraction, are significant anthropogenic coastal stressors that can negatively affect ecosystems and communities. In light of the above, the objective of this research is to examine the influence ofmetal mining activities on the composition of sediments of a Mediterranean coastal lagoon, named Mar Menor. This paper presents a comprehensive characterization for grain size, mineralogy, geochemistry and organic matter of sediments of this coastal lagoon, investigating their variation along space and time. Sedimentation dynamics are ruling clearly the grain size predominant in each area of the MarMenor coastal lagoon, determining the existence of entrainment, transport and sedimentation areas. Forminerals, elements and organic matter, sedimentation dynamics are also determining their distribution. The authors would like to thank Fundación Séneca for funding the project 12038/PI/09. The Influence of Mining Waste from the Sierra Minera (Cartagena-La Unión) on the Evolution of Sediments in the Mar Menor Coastal Lagoon
[ENG] The Cartagena-La Unión mining district is located close to the Mar Menor (SE Spain), one of the largest coastal lagoons in the Mediterranean Sea. Although no mining has been done for several decades mining waste continues to find its way into the lagoon, especially during periods of torrential rain, carried by flash floods that run along seasonal rivers or wadis. This input of mining waste can have a negative impact on the lagoon’s ecosystems and communities, and the purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of metal ore mining on the composition of the sediments in the Mar Menor. The evolution of these sediments was studied by carrying out a comprehensive spatiotemporal characterization of the particle size distribution, mineralogy, geochemistry and organic matter of the seabed of this coastal lagoon. Results reveal that sedimentation dynamics has had a marked influence on predominant particle size in each area, determining the existence of clearly differentiated carryover, transport and sedimentation zones. The distribution of minerals, elements and organic material is also determined by the sedimentation dynamics in question
Adolescents’ concerns, routines, peer activities, frustration, and optimism in the time of covid-19 confinement in spain
The global outbreak of COVID-19 has brought changes in adolescents’ daily routines, restrictions to in-person interactions, and serious concerns about the situation. The purpose of this study was to explore COVID-19-related concerns, daily routines, and online peer activities during the confinement period according to sex and age groups. Additionally, the relationship of these factors and optimism along with adolescents’ frustration was examined. Participants included 1246 Spanish students aged 16–25 years old (M = 19.57; SD = 2.53; 70.8% girls). The results indicated that the top concern was their studies. COVID-19-related concerns, daily routines, and online peer activities varied by sex and age. Findings also revealed moderate to high levels of frustration, which were associated with adolescents’ main concerns, online peer activities, maintaining routines, and optimism. The results are discussed in light of their implications in designing support programs and resources to reduce the psychological impact of COVID-19 on adolescent mental health

results show that the majority of teachers have an assertive educational profile, a high score
in Emotional Competence and that there is a very significant relationship between teachers
with high score in Emotional Competence and Well-being simultaneously. This fact
confirms that more emotionally competent teachers enjoy greater personal well-bein
Identification of polymers in waste tyre reinforcing fibre by thermal analysis and pyrolysis
The composition of the reinforcing fibre obtained from the recycling of scrap tyres was analyzed with a view to finding the most suitable applications for it. The material (RF) was separated into two different parts i.e. fibre (F) and microfibre (MF) to ensure the maximum homogeneity of the material under study. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG) together with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to identify the polymers present in the waste and to determine in what proportions they were present. Determination of the temperatures of maximum volatile matter evolution (Tmax), the yield at the end of the pyrolysis and the melting temperatures yielded very useful results for the identification of the polymers. In order to confirm the results obtained, pyrolysis of the pure polymers was carried out and the decomposition products were analyzed. The results were then compared with the oil composition data derived from the pyrolysis of the waste fibres. Our results showed the presence of two polyamides, rayon, polyester and aramid. The research leading to these results has received funding from theSpanish MICINN Project reference CTM2009-10227.
[EN] Climate change has always happened; however, today it joins globalization and the capitalist productive model, which prioritizes economic development over the protection of the environment. Environmental neoliberalism causes the worst effects of climate change to be concentrated in countries of the global South, which see their natural resources plundered and lack sufficient economic level to make the leap to a green economy. Migrations caused by environmental degradation (droughts, floods, infertile soils) have a strong gender component: women suffer historical discrimination based on their sex, but they are also part of the groups with the greatest vulnerability to climate change (poor, ethnic minorities, minors, etc.).
When the arriving society is Western, a culture shock occurs, which is responded to with hyperpunitive norms, to punish the cultural manifestations of minorities. The Sustainable Development Goals set by the 2030 Agenda are the starting point to start managing both the effects of climate change and migration. In addition, it is essential to start from the knowledge of the Green Criminology of the South, listening to those who suffer most from the effects of Western policies and taking measures according to their specific needs
This paper studies the representation of female and male images in the Spanish
digital sport press during the 2016 Olympic Games to show if the visual framework is different
for each gender. We conducted a content analysis of 3738 news items through eight different
variables: athlete’s gender, photographs’ quantity and size, sport, image content, action
of the protagonist, presence of gender biases or stereotypes and their typology. Findings
show that there is an underrepresentation of female visual coverage and a trivialization of
women's sports with visual ambivalence in the images. This is because, even though there is
not a differentiated context by gender, media tends to represent female athletes in so-called
gender-appropriate sports and in a passive way. In addition, we found gender biases and
stereotypes derived from frames of sexualization and beauty, degrading images, greater
emphasis on female emotions, motherhood, and family life. All of this can impact the
audience’s perception as they understand that women's sports are less relevant than men's.Este artigo estuda a representação das imagens femininas e masculinas

Gender biases in the social networks of regional public media: the case of @CSurNoticias' Twitter
sesgos presentes en su formato tradicional, obstaculizando el avance social de las mujeres en el ámbito digital.desequilibrioIntroduction: Public media are essential to offer a service of general interest to the population to have equitable
access to information, culture, democratic participation and equal opportunities. However, they continue to
transmit biases and gender stereotypes that can have a great social scope, also in its digital editions, where a
large part of the imbalances presents in traditional media have been transferred and adapted. Methodology:
This paper analyzes the representation of gender on the Twitter profile of the regional channel Canal Sur
Noticias. For this, a content analysis of a total of N=754 tweets published in September and October 2022 is
carried out to find out if there is an underrepresentation of women in news coverage and if gender biases and
stereotypes are perceived in the sections, spheres of action, authorship, external sources and in the audiovisual
content. Results: The findings reveal that women are clearly underrepresented in this social network, not only
as protagonist, also as authors and external sources, and a relegation to the background, in sections and areas
of lesser weight, in addition biases persist and stereotypes such as gender markings, traditional roles, or sexist
language in text and images. Discussion and Conclusions: This paper show an imbalance in the representation
of gender in the Twitter of the public channel, which adapts the same biases present in its traditional format,
hindering the social advancement of women in the digital space
