The cultivation of cocoa (Theobroma cacao) has been an important driver of tropical deforestation globally. Efforts to reverse this trend are focusing on the reintroduction of shade trees to cocoa plantations. Shade trees are valuable in enhancing biophysical conditions on cocoa fields and contribute to biodiversity and product diversification for smallholder producers. The aim of this study was to compare financial analysis of cocoa agroforestry between in state forest land and private land. Financial analysis was undertaken to assess its economic viability. Input–output data were collected from farmer by interview and participant observation. A discounted cash flow analysis was carried out to estimate the benefit-cost (B/C) ratio, net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR) at 6,4% discount rate. The results showed that the main combination of planting pattern that consist of cacao and banana (in state forest land), cacao and petai, cacao and durian (in private land) were financially feasible; the largest contribution was given by cacao at all planting patterns based on farmer household revenue structure. Design of agroforestry has the objectives of improving the system which has been existing and providing directives for agribusiness on the basis of physical, economical, and socio-cultural condition. Design of a system is inevitably related with pre-diagnosis and diagnosis activities which are aimed at discovering the existing constraints and problems inside the system, followed by technological intervention for system improvement and determining the best agroforestry system in critical land condition. Method used in this study was identifying the existing agroforestry system, followed by evaluation of land suitability, financial analysis and community social analysis. This study found three agroforestry systems based on the existing components, namely agrisilviculture, silvopasture, and agrisilvopasture. Evaluation of land suitability showed that in general, land suitability ratings for woody crops and perennial crops were categorized as moderately suitable (S2), while those for annual crops / non rice food crops were categorized as marginally suitable (S3). Results of financial analysis showed that all existing agroforestry system are feasible to be practiced, with highest benefit cost ratio 2.7 was found in agrisilvopasture system. On the basis of landscape consideration, species of Non-MPTs were more adapted if they were planted in hill ridge, while that of species of MPTs and perennial crops in slope and valley, and that of annual crops in valley. Ex-mining land use of cement was an alternative medium or planting medium, but this alternative was to meet the constraints of low soil fertility levels. Therefore, one way that could be attempted is creating suppressive soil in the form of applying biofertilizer such as rhizobium (Nitrogen Fixing Bakteria). Research methods used a complete randomized design. The first factor was the type of Rhizobium (control, Shinorhizobium sp (S8.4), Rhizobium sp (S10.3.1) which was inoculated on the plant Paraserianthes falcataria. Planting medium used was sterilized soil from ex-cement mining land. The results of rhizobium inoculation on plants showed different effectiveness in enhancing the growth of seedlings. Duncan test results of the influence of a single factor BFN showed Shinorhizobium sp (S8.4) could be associated with P. falcataria, to improved seedling growth and able to gave growth response better when compared with treatment of Rhizobium sp (S10.3.1) and control at variable observations on seedling diameters (1.65 mm), number of leaves (10.9 pieces), N absorption (2.10 g/plant) and P absorption (0.16 g/plant). Keywords: Paraserianthes falcataria, rhizobium, bacteria, seedlings, soil media of ex - cement minin

Coastal village communities in Indonesia experience significant socio-economic disparities which make them more vulnerable as the marine ecosystem is badly affected by global warming. Concrete action needs to be conducted to resolve the problem better and do not make the coastal village communities poorer. This study aims to describe the empowerment program of coastal village communities through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa - Badan Usaha Milik Desa) in Gebang Village, Teluk Pandan Subdistrict and Durian Village, Padang Cermin Subdistrict, Pesawaran District, Lampung Province. Applying qualitative methods involved documentary study and in-depth interviews this research showed that in Gebang Village, there were empowerment efforts carried out by Mitra Bentala and CSR JAPFA Company Comfeed Indonesia Tbk as external supporting organizations. Inhibiting factors were the division of responsibilities and authorities among stakeholders who did not have a structure yet. Gebang Village used a participatory model, meanwhile, Durian Village combined endogenous (bottom-up) and community-based development models in their community empowerment. These findings proved the important roles of the authorities to form a more inclusive policy by involving internal and external stakeholders in order to accelerate the development of coastal village communities.__________The original draft of this article has been presented at the 6th International Conference on Social and Political Sciences (ICoSaPS) 2020, Strengthening Resilient Society in the Disruptive Era, Surakarta, October 7-8th, 2020
