Parental care of Chestnut-capped Puffbird Bucco macrodactylus on the middle Juruá River, Amazonas, Brazil

Chestnut-capped Puffbird Bucco macrodactylus, like other members of the Bucconidae family, nest in arboreal termitaria. Here we described a nest of the species, found in the floodplain of the Juruá River in December 2014. It was built inside an arboreal termite mound, 2.45 m above the ground. We determined the type and frequency of prey consumed by chicks over six days: during this time adults brought food to the nest 147 times. Prey included both vertebrates and invertebrates, though the most frequent were insects of the Order Orthoptera. Fledging may have been directly stimulated by a predation attempt made by a marsupial

The present article proposes to analyze marketing planning within the context of innovative organizational structures. The work has been structured as an essay, and is comprised of a review of the theoretical reference, set against a conceptual critical analysis of a few aspects pertinent to the theme. Issues around the difference among the several strategic levels, such as the formulation of corporate strategies, competitive and structural. Description of the nest of two Thamnophilidae species in Brazilian Amazon

Many Thamnophilidae species have poorly known breeding. Here we describe the nests and eggs of two species, Epinecrophylla ornata from a terra firme forest, and Myrmotherula assimilis from a flooded forest in Brazil. Knowledge on the natural history of these species is important for future conservation strategies

Conflitos pela água, leis nacionais e os ODS: monitoramento para uma governança democrática

The UN 2030 Agenda recognizes, in its 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), the presence of conflicts of different degrees, nature and typology. Following the academic debate, the Agenda considers it important to record conflicts and promote mitigation actions in participatory forums. In this context, the purpose of this article is to present different conceptions, data and forms of manifestation of conflicts over water in the international scenario and, particularly, in Brazil. It also reflects on the possibilities for improvements in register with the advent of the SDGs. Historical data based on platforms, management institutions and other public data of water conflicts are highlighted. Among the results, it is highlighted that the surveys are not periodicals, methodologies are under development stage and the scope is restricted to rural areas. The records of the Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT) show an increase in the number and types of water conflicts in the countryside, mostly caused by productive activities (mining, energy and agriculture). Among the gaps observed is the lack of a record and monitoring strategy on the part of State institutions, with dependence on voluntary surveys from social organizations and academia.A Agenda ONU (Organização das Nações Unidas) 2030 reconhece, no conjunto de seus 17 ODS (Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável), a presença de conflitos de distintos graus, natureza e tipologia. Seguindo o debate acadêmico, a Agenda considera importante o registro de conflitos e a promoção de ações de mitigação em foros participativos e com amplo diálogo. Neste contexto, o objetivo deste artigo é apresentar distintas concepções, dados e formas de manifestação dos conflitos pela água no cenário internacional e, particularmente, no Brasil. Faz-se também uma reflexão sobre possibilidades de aprimoramentos nos registros com o advento dos ODS. São destacados dados históricos de plataformas, instituições gestoras e outros registros públicos de conflitos pela água. Entre os resultados para o Brasil, destaca-se que os levantamentos são aperiódicos, com metodologias em desenvolvimento e foco no meio rural. Os registros da Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT) apontam trajetória de aumento do número e tipos de conflitos pela água no campo, majoritariamente causados por atividades produtivas (mineração, energia e agricultura). Entre as lacunas por parte do Estado, encontra-se a falta de estratégia para registro e monitoramento dos conflitos, com dependência de levantamentos voluntários de organizações sociais e da academia

Propuesta de una definición de calidad para la universidad / Proposed of a Definition of Quality for the University

Resumen El presente artículo se inicia valorando lo pluridimensional del vocablo calidad en Educación Superior.  Se presenta asimismo una breve visión filosófica y sociológica de la calidad de la educación y realiza un análisis de varias definiciones sobre calidad. Presenta el término de predictores de calidad seguido de una descripción de los modelos de evaluación de la calidad más conocidos en el mundo. Propone diez indicadores de calidad para la educación superior y   concluye con una propuesta de definición de calidad, centrando la atención en el egresado como producto del sistema, para provocar una reflexión sobre la misma por parte de los lectores y estudiosos del tema. This article begins by assessing what the term multidimensional quality in higher education. A brief philosophical and sociological view of the quality of education is also presented and an analysis of various definitions of quality. It presents the term predictors of quality followed by a description of assessment models of the best-known quality in the world. It proposes ten quality indicators for higher education and concludes with a proposed definition of quality, focusing on the graduate as a product of the system, to provoke reflection on it by readers and scholars
