    Get PDF
I explored the potential of Sentiment Analysis (SA) infore casting successful initial coin offerings (ICOs). The aim is to determine if the SA and Twitter data alone, and in combination with TORD, a publicly available database Paul P. 2021, can evaluate the success of ICOs. Hence, I provided background information on the initial coin offering (ICO) market and cryptocurrencies, followed by a thorough literature review on SA and the main success factors of ICOs.Then, I finally presented the research project results, including the use of SA methodologies, data cleaning, graphical, and predictive analysis. Along with the conclusions with personal insights on the result

Detection and drug delivery from superhydrophobic materials

The wetting of a rough material is controlled by surface chemistry and morphology, the liquid phase, solutes, and surfactants that affect the surface tension with the gas phase, and environmental conditions such as temperature and pressure. Materials with high (>150Ëš) apparent contact angles are known as superhydrophobic and are very resistant to wetting. However, in complex biological mixtures eventually protein adsorbs, fouling the surface and facilitating wetting on time scales from seconds to months. The work here uses the partially-wetted (Cassie-Baxter) to fully-wetted (Wenzel) state transition to control drug delivery and to perform surfactant detection via surface tension using hydrophobic and superhydrophobic materials. First there is an overview of the physics of the non-wetting state and the transition to wetting. Then there is a review of how wetting can be controlled by outside stimuli and applications of these materials. Next there is work presented on controlling drug release using superhydrophobic materials with controlled wetting rates, with both in vitro and in vivo results. Then there is work on developing a sensor based on this wetting state transition and its applications toward detecting solute levels in biological fluids for point-of-care diagnosis. Finally, there is work presented on using these sensors for detecting the alcohol content in wine and spirits

One of nutritious problems susceptibly encountred in the world nowadays is kid’s stunting. Stunting is a failure of growth condition and cronical nutritious problems caused by poor nutritious supply because of improper meal provisions in long term growth consumptions. Stunting could be primarily prevented by increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through consuming moringa oleifera regularly. This study is intended to know the impact of education towards mother’s knowledge about stunting prevention through regular moringa oleifera consumption. This research applied a quasi experimental design by generating non equivalent control group which complied two groups; 30 subjects (mothers) were considered as treatment group; whereas, other 30 subjects (mothers) were taken as control group. Thus sampling technique applied was consecutive sampling. The study showed that there was a significant impact on education score after intervention towards the treatment group (p=0,000); whereas there was no significant difference on the control group (p=0,184). The statistical analysis applied was independent sample t-test which showed that education was significantly impacted the increase of mother’s knowledge (p=0,000). It means that education had impact towards mother’s knowledge about stunting prevention using moringa oleifera

Background: Coronavirus (COVID19) is a world public health emergency. The coronavirus transmission is highly fast that health workers are at high risk of contracting COVID-19. It raises excessive anxiety for nurses when caring for COVID-19 patients, so one way to help reduce the fears and worries nurses face is by providing support and motivation from their families.Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and nurses’ motivation in caring for Patients with COVID19.Methods: The method used was correlational quantitative, involving 84 nurses caring for Patients with COVID19.Result: The results of the spearman rank test showed a p-value of 0,001 ≤ α 0,05, which indicated a relationship between family support and the motivation of nurses in caring for Patients with COVID19. Furthermore, the coefficient correlation (r = 0,362) had a low level of relationship with a positive direction of the relationship. Conclusion: It can be concluded that family support is very important in the psychological dimension by positively affecting nurses' work motivation

Supplementary data to this article can be found online at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.reactfunctpolym.2020.104664.In this work, zein, a by-product of the agricultural industry of corn, was used to impart hydrophobicity and antimicrobial activity to textiles. The cotton textiles were functionalized with zein in two different forms, free or as particles. The optimized coating conditions which rendered the highest hydrophobic character to the textiles were found to be 50g/L zein in the free form prepared with 70% ethanol. To enhance the antimicrobial activity of the coated textiles, ellagic acid was encapsulated into the zein particles. These presented stable diameters, between 300 and 450nm, and positive surface charge revealing high encapsulation efficiency. After textiles coating, the controlled release of ellagic acid was tested against different mimetic biologic solutions. The release profile was dependent on the ethanol concentration, on the sweat solution pH and on the external media used during dialysis. The functionalized textiles revealed differentiated antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli (Gram-negative) and Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive). For E. coli the activity was mainly related with the action of zein while for S. aureus a combined effect between the protein and the ellagic acid was observed. The results herein presented pave the way for the development of new zein-based products for a wide range of applications. This study was supported by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the scope of the strategic funding of UIDB/04469/2020 unit and BioTecNorte operation (NORTE-01-0145-FEDER000004) funded by European Regional Development Fund under the scope of Norte2020 - Programa Operacional Regional do Norte. Kalashnikov enculturation: The Soviet contribution to small arms proliferation and the disintegration of the non-state threshold

honors thesisCollege of HumanitiesInternational StudiesMarjorie CastleThe purpose of this paper is to closely examine the legacy of the policies and actions taken by the Soviet Union during the Cold War in order to determine its contributions to current levels of small arms and light weapons (SALW) proliferation around the globe. This examination confirms as reality the perception of the Soviet Union as the primary propagator of indiscriminate small arms proliferation in the post-Cold War era. As such, the Soviet Union was a chief contributor to the current situation of global insecurity perpetuated by the creation of extensively armed and violent societies known commonly as Kalashnikov Cultures. In examining the impact of Soviet policies on SALW proliferation, this paper utilizes the concept of the "Non-State Threshold" at which, when intact, small arms and light weapons are effectively segregated between legitimate state and illegitimate nonstate actors, and when breached, indiscriminate spread occurs. The Non-State Threshold will be applied to the years during and immediately following the Cold War to determine under which conditions indiscriminate SALW proliferation occurred, and to facilitate a clearer understanding of how Soviet policies and actions allowed for the permeation of the Threshold by increasing the availability, ease of acquisition, and appeal of SALW to non-state actors and illegitimate groups. This paper demonstrates how the legacy of Soviet policies has facilitated the creation of dangerously armed, rogue societies, supporting the claim that it is the actions of the Soviet Union specifically that have disproportionately contributed to the creation of Kalashnikov Cultures
