Introduction: Since H. Pylori has been isolated in stomach and duodenum, there were individual methodologies to explain the grading according to colonization and density of microorganism. In 1990 Sydney system of classification was proposed at the 9th world congress of gastroenterology in Sydney Australia, based on topo-graphical, morphological and etiological findings. This classification revised in 1994 and updated by experts in Houston Texas. H. Pylori is major cause of chronic gastri-tis results in gastric and peptic ulcer. It also causes MALT lymphoma and malignan-cy. For histopathological examination four specimens, two from antrum and two from corpus are recommended. Objective: To evaluate the Sydney system of classification and grading for H. Pylori in local population.Methodology: 287 cases of biopsies received at the department of pathology Mu-hammad Medical College, Mirpurkhas Sindh Pakistan, during the period of January 2017 to December 2018 were revised. Sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin; Alcian blue and periodic acid Schiff to define H. Pylori and associated pathological changes. The microscopical findings classified according to upgraded Sydney pattern. Results: Out of 287 cases of gastric biopsies 23 (8.0%) were positive for H. Pylori. chronic inflammation present in 168 (58.5%). Neutrophilic activity found in 58 (18.1%). Atrophy without metaplasia observed in 31 (10.8%). Intestinal metaplasia present in 1 (0.3%) cases. Conclusion: Sydney system of grading is best to evaluate chronic gastritis and relia-ble indicator of H. Pylori microorganism. Effect of corrugated wall combined with backward-facing step channel on fluid flow and heat transfer

    Get PDF
The turbulent fluid flow and heat transfer were numerically studied through backward-facing step combined with various corrugated walls. The governing equation was solved using Finite Volume Method (FVM) and the SIMPLE algorithm was applied to investigate the effect of backward-facing step with corrugated downstream on heat transfer characteristics. A constant heat flux was applied on the downstream wall, while the other walls were considered as adiabatic surfaces. Parameters such as corrugated design, amplitude height (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm) and Reynolds number (Re) in the range of 5000 to 20,000 were used. The performance evaluation criteria (PEC) were estimated to show the heat transfer augmentation. The results indicated that using a corrugated wall with a backward-facing step increased significantly the heat transfer accompanied by a slight increase in the skin friction coefficient simultaneously. The best heat transfer augmentation was observed for the trapezoidal corrugation at 4 mm amplitude height and 20 mm pitch diameter. Combining the corrugated wall with backward-facing step enhanced the Nusselt number (Nu) up to 62% at Re = 5000. The performance evaluation criteria increased with the increase of amplitude height until it reached 4 mm and then decreased steeply

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated the development of rapid and trustworthy diagnostic tools. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is the gold standard for detecting SARS-CoV-2 but has cost and time constraints. The sensitivity, specificity, and low cost of electrochemical biosensors make them an attractive alternative for virus detection. This study aims to develop and evaluate a high-performance desktop application for an electrochemical potentiostat-based SARS-CoV-2 test device, with a user-friendly interface that automatically interprets results, to expedite the testing process and improve accessibility, particularly in resource-limited settings. The application was built with the Electron framework and the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript programming languages. Our findings indicate that the developed electrochemical potentiostat-based desktop application demonstrates high accuracy compared to commercial software, achieving rapid detection within 30 seconds. The graphical user interface was found to be straightforward and user-friendly, requiring minimal training for efficient system operation. Our electrochemical potentiostat-based desktop application represents a valuable tool for rapid SARS-CoV-2 testing, particularly in settings with limited resources. This research contributes to developing rapid and reliable diagnostic tools for SARS-CoV-2 and potentially other pandemic-causing viruses, addressing the pressing need for improved public health surveillance and response strategies

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to improve the classification accuracy of the C4.5 Algorithm utilizing the forward selection technique. Breast Cancer from the UCI Machine Learning Repository is the dataset utilized. There are 286 records in the dataset with nine attributes and one class (label). The suggested model was evaluated with two existing classification models (C4.5 and Naïve Bayes) using the RapidMiner program. The procedure consists of multiple stages, the first of which consists of selecting the dominant trait using the feature selection technique (weight by information gain). The second step is forward selection based on the outcome of feature selection. Before processing, the dataset is separated into training and testing halves, where the ratios of comparison are 70:30, 80:20, and 90:10. The final step is examining the output. The experimental results demonstrate that the forward selection methodology employing the C4.5 (C4.5 + FS method outperforms the C4.5 and Naïve Bayes classification techniques. C4.5 + FS (Split Data 70:30) has an accuracy value of 76.74%, C4.5 + FS (Split Data 80:20) has an accuracy value of 78.95%, C4.5 + FS (Split Data 90:10) has an accuracy value of 78.57%, C4.5 (Split Data 70:30) has an accuracy value of 65.12%, and Naïve Bayes (Split Data is 70:30) has an accuracy value 85.55%. In comparison to typical classification algorithms (C4.5 and Naïve Bayes), the average accuracy values increased by 12.97% and 8.32%, respectively. In terms of precision, recall, and F-measure, the forward selection strategy utilizing the C4.5 method beat all other classification techniques, achieving 79.84%, 92.50%, and 85.55%, respectively. In addition, the results demonstrated an increase in the average Area Under Curve (AUC) from 0.628 to 0.732%. Therefore, it can be inferred that the forward selection strategy can be applied to the Breast Cancer Data Set in order to increase the accuracy value of classification method C4.5.
