The XII century towers, a benchmark of the Rome countryside almost cancelled. The safeguard plan by low cost uav and terrestrial DSM photogrammetry surveying and 3D Web GIS applications
âGiving a bird-fly look at the Rome countryside, throughout the Middle Age central period, it would show as if the multiple city
towers has been widely spread around the territoryâ on a radial range of maximum thirty kilometers far from the Capitol Hill center
(Carocci and Vendittelli, 2004).
This is the consequence of the phenomenon identified with the âIncasalamentoâ neologism, described in depth in the following
paper, intended as the general process of expansion of the urban society interests outside the downtown limits, started from the half
of the XII and developed through all the XIII century, slowing down and ending in the following years. From the XIX century till
today the architectural finds of this reality have raised the interest of many national and international scientists, which aimed to study
and catalog them all to create a complete framework that, cause of its extension, didnât allow yet attempting any element by element
detailed analysis. From the described situation has started our plan of intervention, we will apply integrated survey methods and
technologies of terrestrial and UAV near stereo-photogrammetry, by the use of low cost drones, more than action cameras and reflex
on extensible rods, integrated and referenced with GPS and topographic survey. In the final project we intend to produce some 3D
scaled and textured surface models of any artifact (almost two hundreds were firstly observed still standing), to singularly study the
dimensions and structure, to analyze the building materials and details and to formulate an hypothesis about any function, based even
on the position along the territory. These models, successively georeferenced, will be imported into a 2D and 3D WebGIS and
organized in layers made visible on basemaps of reference, as much as on historical maps
Asymptotic stability of the Cauchy and Jensen functional equations
The aim of this note is to investigate the asymptotic stability behaviour of
the Cauchy and Jensen functional equations. Our main results show that if these
equations hold for large arguments with small error, then they are also valid
everywhere with a new error term which is a constant multiple of the original
error term. As consequences, we also obtain results of hyperstability character
for these two functional equations
Microalgae potential in the capture of CO2 emission
In a perspective projected to reduce the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases, in which carbon dioxide is the master, the use of microalgae is an effective and decisive response. The review describes the bio circularity of the process of abatement of carbon dioxide through biofixation in algal biomass, highlighting the potential of its reuse in the production of high value-added products
VOICe THeRApy FOR LARyNgeAL HeMIpLegIA: THe ROLe OF TIMINg OF INITIATION OF THeRApy
Objective: Laryngeal hemiplegia, also known as vocal fold paralysis, causes severe communicative disability. Although voice therapy is commonly considered to be beneficial for improving the voice quality in several voice disorders, there are only a few papers that present scientific evidence of the effectiveness of voice therapy in treating the disabilities of laryngeal hemiplegia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of voice therapy in patients with laryngeal hemiplegia and to evaluate the role of the time gap between onset of laryngeal hemiplegia and initiation of therapy. Design: A prospective study comparing subjects treated either within or more than 3 months after the onset of laryngeal hemiplegia. Subjects: The study involved 30 laryngeal patients with hemiplegia (16 males, 14 females, age range 15â80 years). Methods: All patients underwent videolaryngostroboscopy, maximum phonation time measurement, GIRBAS perceptual evaluation, Voice Handicap Index self-assessment and Multi-Dimensional Voice Program voice analysis before and after therapy. Results: In all tests, there were significant improvements in voice quality, both in the group treated within 3 months after the onset of laryngeal hemiplegia and in the group treated after this time. Conclusion: Voice therapy is effective in treating laryn geal hemiplegia even if treatment is delayed by more than 3 months from onset of laryngeal hemiplegia
Convergence of Discrete-Time Cellular Neural Networks with Application to Image Processing
The paper considers a class of discrete-time cellular neural networks (DT-CNNs) obtained by applying Euler's discretization scheme to standard CNNs. Let T be the DT-CNN interconnection matrix which is defined by the feedback cloning template. The paper shows that a DT-CNN is convergent, i.e. each solution tends to an equilibrium point, when T is symmetric and, in the case where T + En is not positive-semidefinite, the step size of Euler's discretization scheme does not exceed a given bound (En is the n Ă n unit matrix). It is shown that two relevant properties hold as a consequence of the local and space-invariant interconnecting structure of a DT-CNN, namely: (1) the bound on the step size can be easily estimated via the elements of the DT-CNN feedback cloning template only; (2) the bound is independent of the DT-CNN dimension. These two properties make DT-CNNs very effective in view of computer simulations and for the practical applications to high-dimensional processing tasks. The obtained results are proved via Lyapunov approach and LaSalle's Invariance Principle in combination with some fundamental inequalities enjoyed by the projection operator on a convex set. The results are compared with previous ones in the literature on the convergence of DT-CNNs and also with those obtained for different neural network models as the Brain-State-in-a-Box model. Finally, the results on convergence are illustrated via the application to some relevant 2D and 1D DT-CNNs for image processing tasks
Drift of invariant manifolds and transient chaos in memristor Chua's circuit
The article shows that transient chaos phenomena can be observed in a generalized memristor Chua's circuit where a nonlinear resistor is introduced to better model the real memristor behaviour. The flux-charge analysis method is used to explain the origin of transient chaos, that is attributed to the drift of the index of the memristor circuit invariant manifolds caused by the charge flowing into the nonlinear resistor
