Processo de formação continuada de professores de educação física em contexto educacional inclusivo

The aims of this study were to track how Physical Education teachers deal with students with special needs and to understand how a continuing education program may contribute to cope the challenges related with the inclusion process. The research was based on the focalization group methodological suppositions. Sixteen Physical Education teachers of the public educational system of Londrina constituted the Study/Work Group focusing on the issues related to the intervention of the Physical Education teacher in inclusive school environments. The meetings were carried out every other week during the years 2002 and 2003. Data collection was carried out by means of: collective interviews, observation and analysis of classes recorded in VHS, and reflective field diaries. The treatment given to the data collected included Group photography, radiography, and cinematography. The results indicated important oppositions to be overcome in the school environment - the opposition between theory and practice for instance - reflecting on the educational assistance given by teachers of Physical Education to students with special needs. Final considerations suggest procedures related to the implementation of continuing formation programs as well as the accomplishment of research in a relational perspective in educational contexts that intend to be inclusive.O estudo objetivou acompanhar como professores do componente curricular Educação Física lidam em suas aulas com a proposta de inclusão escolar de alunos que apresentam necessidades educacionais especiais e em que medida um programa de formação continuada pode contribuir para o enfrentamento desta situação. A pesquisa assentou-se em pressupostos metodológicos do grupo de focalização. Dezesseis professores de Educação Física, da rede pública municipal de ensino de Londrina, constituíram Grupo de Estudo/Trabalho com foco nas questões relativas à intervenção do professor de Educação Física em ambientes escolares inclusivos. Foram realizados encontros quinzenais durante os anos 2002 e 2003. Para efeito de coleta de dados foram adotados na dinâmica do Grupo: entrevistas coletivas, observações e análises de aulas registradas em VHS e diários de campo reflexivos. O tratamento dos dados coletados configurou fotografia, radiografia e cinematografia do Grupo. Os resultados encontrados indicam contradi ções importantes de serem superadas no ambiente escolar - como a contradição teoria versus prática, por exemplo - e que refletem no atendimento educacional prestado por professores de Educação Física a alunos com necessidades especiais. A título de considerações finais indica-se procedimentos relacionados à implementação de programas de formação continuada, assim como à realização de pesquisas numa perspectiva relacional em contextos educacionais que se pretendem inclusivos

The V471A polymorphism in autophagy-related gene ATG7 modifies age at onset specifically in Italian Huntington disease patients

The cause of Huntington disease (HD) is a polyglutamine repeat expansion of more than 36 units in the huntingtin protein, which is inversely correlated with the age at onset of the disease. However, additional genetic factors are believed to modify the course and the age at onset of HD. Recently, we identified the V471A polymorphism in the autophagy-related gene ATG7, a key component of the autophagy pathway that plays an important role in HD pathogenesis, to be associated with the age at onset in a large group of European Huntington disease patients. To confirm this association in a second independent patient cohort, we analysed the ATG7 V471A polymorphism in additional 1,464 European HD patients of the “REGISTRY” cohort from the European Huntington Disease Network (EHDN). In the entire REGISTRY cohort we could not confirm a modifying effect of the ATG7 V471A polymorphism. However, analysing a modifying effect of ATG7 in these REGISTRY patients and in patients of our previous HD cohort according to their ethnic origin, we identified a significant effect of the ATG7 V471A polymorphism on the HD age at onset only in the Italian population (327 patients). In these Italian patients, the polymorphism is associated with a 6-years earlier disease onset and thus seems to have an aggravating effect. We could specify the role of ATG7 as a genetic modifier for HD particularly in the Italian population. This result affirms the modifying influence of the autophagic pathway on the course of HD, but also suggests population-specific modifying mechanisms in HD pathogenesis
